Choosing "shoulder season" between winter and before the start of summer is the absolute best. We've made the trip for the last three years. This was our first time at the Grand Bliss; we'd previously stayed at the Grand Mayan. The pools are a very short walk over to the Grand Mayan. Although the rooms were better appointed, the primary difference was the service. Check in and Check out were effortless. Any problems with the room - the batteries in the door lock needed changing - were immediately and personally handled by the desk staff.

This was one of our best vacations ever!

Room Tip: We traveled with owners. According to the management, the ocean side rooms are reserved for owners...

A beautiful 2 year old building with a grand lobby, really huge with plenty of places to sit and relax. The 2 bedroom 2 bath suite we had looked out on the golf course and new train station. We were on the 8th floor of the 9 story building (models only on the 9th floor). The suite was well equipped with 3 large flat screen tv's and dining plates, etc for 10, but a table only for 4 and a snack bar for 2.
The bedrooms had king size beds, couches and lots of pillows and counter space. Each bedroom also had a hot tub with sliding privacy doors that opened from the bathroom to the bedroom. The walk in tiled showers are huge, with rain shower head and lots of hot water.
The kitchen has a four burner counter top, no oven, a microwave, blender, toaster and an excellent lime squeezer! Two small fridges are under the snack bar and have a combined large capacity.
The pools for the Grand Bliss are under construction, but the Grand Mayan and Mayan Palace pools are available on either side of the Grand Bliss. The Grand Mayan pool complex is closest with a great lazy river ride, especially when the wave generator is pushing the water.
Plenty of palapas and lounges on the beach.
We enjoyed off site restaurants in nearby, walkable Nuevo Vallarta. My favorite is 8 Tostadas, but we also enjoyed Eddie's and Por Que No. At Sunset Village, Napolitos is also good.

We just got home from The Grand Bliss last night. We had an awesome vacation!!! We had 2 master suites with ocean views. We had some family friends go with us and have 3 kids, ages 17, 5 and 18 months. There was something for everyone! We spent a lot of time at the Grand Mayan pools, water slide, lazy rivers and wave pools. We also spent time at the kids club area, the beach and the gym. We upgraded to The Grand Luxxe and were able to go hang out over there, too. The food was much better over there and served to you pool side which was awesome! The service everywhere was great, but exceptional at The Grand Luxxe.

The beds in The Grand Bliss are so much more comfortable than the Mayan Palace!! The kids loved the "dipping" pool on the deck. Gorgeous sunset views! Housekeeping service was incredible...everyone was simply awesome, friendly and extremely helpful! We did go to the local store (mexican version of Wal-Mart) and get a lot of groceries. Cooked our own fajitas a couple of nights. There is no salt, pepper or any kind of sharp knife in the place, but it wasn't a big deal.

This really was one of the best trips we have ever had. We can't wait to go back!!! And not once from the time we got VIP treatment at the airport to the time to got back on the plane did any of us feel unsafe or threatened. This resort is completely safe, security everywhere, cameras everywhere and who comes and goes is always monitored.

Room Tip: Ocean view rooms are awesome! Just ask kindly for what you want and you are almost always accommoda...

We have just returned from a wonderful two vacation at the Grand Bliss in Nuevo Vallarta. We are owners but this review is not intended to sell you anything. From our vacationing experience during the last thirty years, I will give my highest recommendation for all of the Mayan Resorts we have stayed (Acapulco, PV Marina, Nuevo Vallarta, San Jose del Cabo and the Riviera Maya). From the time you are picked up at the airport until you check out, the service is extraordinary. The personnel at the front desk, pool or reception area are all very polite and courteous.

Although we own at the Grand Luxxe, we chose the Grand Bliss because of its location. We could walk a few minutes over to the Grand Mayan to use its pools, wave pool, and lazy river or walk a few more minutes through beautiful pathways to our favorite the Mayan Pool and the adjacent adult pool. Although a lot of construction was going on, it was not offensive and did not interfere with our stay. Usually we split our time between Nuevo and the Maya Palace at the Marina. During out two weeks we had only one meal at the resort, one at the marina (Marsico's green awning), one in downtown PV (Pipi's homemade guacolmole and the best margaritas-try the coconut), and the remainder were at local nearby restaurants (Eddie's, Eddie's new place Porque No, La Coin des Amis, Marsico's 8 Tostado's, and La Dolce Vita). On a recommendation we took a taxi to Bucerias to have dinner at Mezzogiorno. We were not disappointed and it was well worth the trip.

The following is for those who have read reviews about the aggressive timeshare presentations. After you check in, you will go to a desk where they will place bands on your wrists. It is here you will approached to go to breakfast and presentation that is to be 90 minutes. In the last thirty years, my wife and I have probably attended 50 or more of these and NOT ONE has lasted only 90 minutes; be prepared for several hours. At the resort they will offer a 10% discount on your charges and around 50% off excursions and other activities. Outside the resort we have been offered $500-$700 to attend. When making your decision, always place a value on your vacation time. If you decide to attend, realize these are sales persons whose JOB is to sell their product to you and do whatever it takes to make a sale. If you are a regular vacationer and want to to be guaranteed a first-class resort with a lot of amenities, then attend the presentation and I am sure the product can sell itself. If you are not interested, just politely say no and walk away and enjoy your vacation. My wife and I are not sales persons for the Mayan Resorts or any other resort-just a couple of people who have enjoyed our timeshare vacations with family, friends and by ourselves. We have attended presentations where we have purchased something that met our needs and walked away from others that did not. We can honestly say that we do not regret one dollar of the money we have spent to purchase our timeshares that have provided us with a lifetime of memories in which we can say we are glad we did it instead of we wished we would have. There are many great timeshare products available. Do research (It took us 5 years before we made or first purchase). Then select the one that best suits your needs and enjoy a lifetime of vacations to places you have only dreamed about. We have had no difficulties in dealing with any of the exchange compies: RCI, HSI, SFX, and Interval International. If you cannont do whatever you need to do on-line, all have very professional customer service representatives to help in making exchanges or selecting a vacation location.

The above is meant to be helpful and not a lecture from some old XXXX who has nothing better to do than write reviews for Trip Advisor.

Room Tip: The odd numbered rooms are ocean front; even number rooms face the golf course.

We recently stayed at the Grand Bliss during Easter Week. We exchanged our normal resort (Playa Royale) for a change. We heard many good thing about the Mayan Resort properties so we wanted to check it out.
Pro's:
1. Great rooms. Good size. We stayed in a 2-bedroom suite, Ocean view, in the middle of the building. We had great views of the ocean and the 'pond' in front of the property.
2. Cleaning staff was great. Rooms were cleaned everyday, they cleaned the dishes, etc in the morning and had a turndown service at night.
3. The building itself is relatively quiet since there are no restaurants directly on this property or a pool. You have to either go to the Grand Luxxe, Grand Mayan or Mayan Palace.
4. Staff overall was very friendly. Most of the people at the property were very friendly.
5. Golf Cart/Shuttle service. Will take you to the various properties or to the front gate.
6. The walkways to the various properties and pools had lots of vegetation. You could be walking on a path next to the road, but with so many trees and bushes, it gave the impression that you were walking in a tropical forest.
7. Great for Kids. The lazy river, the water slide, wave pool are all great for kids. Also, the 'child care' is only 150 pesos from 9:30am until 4:30p, They feed the kids a great meal, do activities, and usually take them to the pool. The kids loved this and had a great time. Staff is great.
Cons
1. Not a full kitchen. We had two small refrigerators and no oven. We heard that the Grand Luxxe has full refrigertor/freezer.
2. Concierege. It seems that they do not know where restaurants are located. We asked about a sushi restaurant around the corner and the concierge did not know what we were talking about. We asked someone else at the Welcome Desk and they helped.
3. Bracelets and Access. It seems that if you ask 3 people the same question you get three different answers. We were told since we were part of the Registry Collection that we could have access to the Gym/Spa. The 2 gyms I saw has marginal equipment. They had older Life Fitness quiptment and the Gym area was in an area. Wet were later told we would have to pay $15/day. We were told that internet was not free yet I was able to log-in to free WiFi each day. Also, we were not sure if we had access to the Grand Luxxe pool or not. They are mutiple colors and types of bracelets and it is seems to be very confusing to the various properties
4. Pool Chairs. It seems that you have to wake up early in the morning and reserve some your spot by the pool. WTH??? It states on the 'Rules and Regulations" that is not allowed. Yet if you don't put some towels, clothes, shoes, etc on some chairs by the pool the you will not have any place to stay.
5. Noise. So while we had a great view of the Ocean the resort has 2 Ladies Nights. These were held on the beach and the noise was so loud that we could hear the music until 3am. We were told that when we checked-out that they had similar complaints and would be changing either the event or the venue.

There is a lot to do on the property. The restaurants are OK. The food at the pool is good and not too expensive. The wait-staff is friendly and considerate.

We have been owners with the Mayan properties for 12 years, recently upgraded to Grand Bliss and this was the first year to actually stay in Grand Bliss and our ocean view room was perfect. The amenities are a step above the Grand Mayan, much nicer beds and upgraded kitchens, however, they do not provide an oven, only microwave and cook top burners. The staff is most accommodating and there is never a shortage of staff. Make a phone request and someone is at your door in less than 5 minutes. The grounds are immaculate and the lobby is beautiful with fresh flowers in abundance. Restaurants on the property and at the pools are very pricey but there are several very good, more reasonably priced restaurants within a short walk just off the property; Eddie's, Guido's and the Artist Cafe right at the marina. Buy food, snacks, water, alcohol and soft drinks at Walmart or Mega.

Room Tip: Ocean view rooms are prime property....ask for one but don't be surprised if you don't get i...

This is a Time Share resort BUT if you can come as an owner, guest or rent a week and AVOID the time share people this is a GREAT resort... Amazing pools, restaurants, golf, gym, spa, etc. The grounds are truely amazing and even though construction is going on this part of the resort is untouched and quiet with great two bedroom suites. I am an owner and have heard HORROR stories from the time share side, but we are happy and love the product. You can come here and NOT SEE OR ATTEND a time share presentation if you rent or are a guest of an owner just say no thank you to the 10% discount, simple.

It is a great resort with SO much for families to do, great golf and 20 min outside downtown PV.

Room Tip: Ask for a high floor Ocean rooms go to those that make their reservations most ahead of time but the...
