“Location, food and service great”
Reviewed May 12, 2013

We sat overlooking the marina waterway. There was a nice breeze, no bugs and a pleasant temperature. The service was attentative but not pushy. The food and wine were excellent. It was a little pricy but worth it. We had three courses and the mahi-mahi was the best. It was easy to converse, not loud at all.

“Combine Two Restaurants”
Reviewed April 25, 2013

From all of the reviews that I have read, I believe the restaurant that is being called Primo 159 is actually the same restaurant as the #12 restaurant on your best list of restaurants Prime 159. All the reviews are accurate though...it is a very nice restaurant. Please combine these ratings with Prime 159.

“Primo is Primero!”
Reviewed April 15, 2013 via mobile

Not sure why this ranked so low on the list of restaurants in Nuevo Vallarta. It was a fabulous place to eat! The view is not great, but the open air terrace on the canal is lovely. Entrees include fish, steak, chicken and pasta choices. They use fresh ingredients and have several organic options. I had a delicious steak salad and great garlic mashed potatoes. Staff was friendly and service was superb.

“When In Mexico, Do What Mexicans Do!”
Reviewed April 4, 2013

Let's face it, looking for an American style steakhouse in Porto Vallarta will yield you Mexican beef at American prices! It is expensive, looks good, service is great but..it goes without saying, when in Mexico, do what the Mexicans do! A good traditional Arachera (mexican marinated skirt steak) can be superb but, favorite American cuts like Filet, Strip and Porterhouse are average at best.
Even so, the rock rocks. Mind you, this is not an appetizer, it is enough for a meal unless your are a defensive tackle in the NFL. The beef strips served with hot rock are tender and plentiful.
Another pleasant surprise is the Mexican wine. Mexican wines are not very well known internationally but the good ones are as good or better than their Argentinean or Chilean cousins.
