I recently returned from a trip to Puerto Vallarta. The highlight of the whole week was a dive with two of Vallarta Adventure's dive masters. The assigned DM for the dive was Charly. Accompanying us though was Peter; out for a dive on his day off (these guys are serious about their diving). We had 70 to 80 feet of visiblility and 86 degree water temp. And that was at 90ft. We saw all the usual species of fish for the area, including several types of moray eels, octopus, etc. PLUS four quite large manta rays. The largest had a wing span of at least 15 ft. They clearly were as interested in us as we were with them. They circled us for twenty minutes, or more at distances close enough to touch. We would have spent even more time with them, but finally had to surface due to running low on gas. I am intentionally not identifying the dive site; but Charly, or Peter can take you there if you ask for them to lead your dive! They are both very knowledgable, safety concious, and tons of fun to spend the day with!!! And if you should go out in a speed boat I strongly recommend seeing if you can get Joaquin as boat captain. He adds to the enjoyment of the trip and along with Charly, or Peter will see that you make it back in. I have some awesome photos of the dive that Peter took, but unfortunately they all exceed the size limit of this web site (5MB), so you'll just have to go out with Charly, or Peter and take your own.
