“Great all inclusive!”
Reviewed February 12, 2013

This hotel is perfect for a relaxing and quiet vacation. Great all inclusive, Excellent food, Rooms are spacious and fully equipped they even have full kitchen with island (stove, oven, fridge, dishwasher, etc). I loved the private pool in our suite (PH 624), it is really private although you might hear the neighbors if they're also on their pool. The vip section in the beach is a really nice touch, it has all inclusive food and drink service most of the day which makes it even more comfortable.

Hotel service was mostly good, although tipping is expected (and they automatically charge you 10% tip on all room service).

Room Tip: Penthouse rooms are really worth the money, the private pool really is private you cant see neighbor...

My husband and I recently spent one week at the Marival Residences & World Spa in Nuevo Vallarta. WOW!!!! We had an awesome time. This resort is definitely luxury at its finest......the room was like an apartment - very spacious, clean, and beautifully decorated. The resort itself is fairly small, but it was perfect for what we wanted......a quiet, relaxing time together for our honeymoon. Although the resort is not directly on the ocean, the pool area is gorgeous and we never had to fight for chairs. And if you want to be on the beach, they will drive you down to the sister resort or you can walk....just a little stroll down the road. I cannot say enough about the food......it was excellent!!! Every meal we had was awesome, and the staff was always very friendly and courteous. I don't think I have a single complaint! We would definitely go back!!!

My wife and I vacationed at this resort last August for 8 days. We had booked a 1 bedroom penthouse suite. Check-in was great, they invited us both into the lobby bar where we sat and completed our check-in (nice touch). I was happy to get a braided coloured string bracelet to show we belonged to the hotel as oppose to the dreaded 1" wide plastic hospital type all-inclusive bracelet that you can't take off which is a magnet to every timeshare agent in PV.
Up to our room, we were on the top floor main building last room on the end. We opened our door and WOW! Exceeded all expectations! It was huge and looked impeccable. Full kitchen, dinning room table, large sitting area, 2 bathrooms and 1 beautiful bedroom. There was a large patio on the main floor whcih we never used as we always headed up the stairs leading to the rooftop private patio with plunge pool. We were also on the very end, so we had this huge side window looking north up the bay which was very very nice, even opened the room up more. Very happy with room!
Shortly after getting settled we headed down to the pool, where we were greeted by Fernandez, one of the poolside wait staff. He treated us like gold. Always noticed us right away everyday when we walked to the pool, knew where we enjoyed sitting and would have 2 loungers ready for us with fresh towels and exactly what we wanted to drink. Our glass was never empty. The gentleman is a huge asset to this hotel. It wasn't until our second last day we realized that we hadn't even gone to the beach, we honestly could have gone without seeing it this time as we enjoyed the poolside and pool so much.
We always rent a vehicle whereever we go so we drove ourselves down to the Marival (we had stayed there before) and it was very nice, yes they have a VIP section roped off for you and again the great service from Marival Residences & World Spa spilled over to us here. We spent a few hours there and enjoyed it.
My family are addicted to spas, so of course we had to go. Beautiful facility, and wonderful treatments, a must.
The food... what can I say. My family and I have been fortunate to sample many many chefs from around the world, from Thailand, to Dubai, To Europe, to US & Canada, and beyond. From 3 star Michelin chefs, to carts on the beaches. We did not have 1 bad meal here. Even the room service was amazing. From the lobster mac&cheese, to the Tapas on the roof top, to the tacos Fernandez made us himself... all have lead us to one thing...we are coming back this July for 12 nights but this time bring our kids as they grew tired of just hearing our stories of the great service and amazing food.
We honestly enjoyed the hotel so much we didn't really leave the hotel that much, which is definitly not like us as to why we always rent a vehicle everywhere we go. We just really really enjoyed our time here.
Reggie (the PR guy) showed us one of the villas when we were there, as we thought maybe bringing the kids back, but this time we opted for a 2 bedroom penthouse suite. Can't wait for July!!!
If you are on the fence about this resort, don't be, you will be very happy you stayed here.

The reception at the hotel was unimpressive. We were met in the lobby by a young girl who was very nice but didn’t know much about the hotel. Food was average the room was great. Large two bedroom with huge balcony and incredible view. First thing you see when you walk in the room is this floor to ceiling view of the ocean and horizon. it’s nice to eat in the family area, relax on the balcony and just enjoy the sunrises and sunsets. No free internet which is a bummer. You can pay for one day or three. it works out to between 11 and 15 dollars a day depending on the peso. My wife told me they advertised twice daily maid service but they only did it once.

We were warned about room service. TIP: they try to get you to tip on the delivery but you should know there is a 10 percent tip automatically charged to you room for all room service that no one tells you about.

All the excursions were really fun and the staff running them are excellent. Bring tip money. The center was a 4 dollar taxi ride each way from the hotel. We did the dolphin, sea lion, zip line and snorkeling. Every excursions leaves from the center.

We had done it all before but the excursions that stood out were the superman zip line and the sea lion encounter. The superman zip line, they will proudly tell you is the second longest in the world and largest in Mexico. It reaches up to 60 miles an hour. Pay the extra and don’t miss it. It is an hour drive into the hilly jungle to get there but it is well worth it. You get to repel off a tower about 30 feet up and you can ride the water slide at the end. They make you where your shoes on the slide. What’s the deal with that. TIP: when you go to the dolphin encounter you can pay a little extra and actually ride the dolphin. We didn’t do this but it looked like fun.

Food: Every time you order anything to eat or drink they make you sign a receipt that is zeroed out. Really cheesy. After a while it gets VERY annoying. We have stayed at seven all inclusive and never had to sign anything after eating or drinking something. The strange thing is sometimes they seemed not to care and other times they made a big deal about it. I think the real reason they do it is to try to guilt you into tipping. We couldn’t find anything about tipping but we tipped. It was definitely expected. TIP: Bring a giant roll of ones and tip someone by the pool well when you first get there and your drink will never be empty .

There are three places to eat and only one inside with air conditioning. We were there in August and the heat and humidity at night were brutal. The food is very average and so is the service. If you are going for that reason alone, don’t.

My favorite meal was the seared ahi tuna and the items at the roof top, outdoor eating area. They have a tapas menu that has some interesting and tasty items. Un like other all-inclusive resorts, no premium alcohol is included.

Beach: I strongly recommend that if walking distance to the beach is important to you, you should consider going somewhere else. We knew it going in and were prepared for it. I have never stayed at a beach hotel let alone an all-inclusive that wasn’t walking distance to the beach. You need to catch a golf cart/van/taxi for a quick ride four hotels down the road to the sister property, walk through the hotel, turn to the left and walk a block or two to the roped off beach area. Wow. On the way back, there is usually a crowd waiting for a ride so you sit on the steps in front of the hotel waiting. You get in the van and the seats are wet and smelly from all the people sitting on them with wet swim suits. Not ideal . The service at the beach area was excellent. They really hustled to get you what you want. Limited umbrellas though and if you don’t get one the sun is relentless.

In the summer it rains a lot and apparently that causes jelly fish and sting rays to come into shore. I thought they were kidding but we saw multiple people get stung in water up to their knees. They put up the dreaded "blue flag" and no one can use the kayak, boogie boards or sail boats. We stayed for eight days and the entire time the blue flag was up. Our sons were very disappointed.
If you like really warm water, this is the place for you. Much like Ixtapa in the summer time, the water is 87 degrees in the pool and the ocean. For me, anything much above 75 degrees doesn’t provide any relief on really hot days.

Tip: We had read that they added stuff to your bill at check out and sure enough the added charges to ours. We asked twice and where told they would take care of it but when I went to pay it hadn’t been removed. Hopefully it won’t appear on the credit card bill.

Over all our family had fun. It was a mix or good and not so good. I probably would not return just because there are much better all-inclusive in Mexico at the same cost. Have fun!

We stayed in the hotel the week of January 31-February 7. It was a great hotel -- one of the best we've stayed in while in Mexico. The food in the restaurant on the top had the best tapas, but every restaurant was great! Food service was just outstanding in all areas of the hotel. Carlos, our pool man, took great care of the 16 of us in our party. He is a great representative for the hotel, We stayed in the villas (3 couples) but others stayed in the hotel. The villa was nice, but I liked the rooms (3rd floor and above) better. People were very friendly - front desk had an edge, but with 200 people checking in at the same time I get it. We also had free excursions. Some of our group went to the zip lines (bring a coat - cold in the AM) and the catamaran trip. Great time.

My husband and I spent a week at this resort! Felt like a VIP from the time we arrived till the time we left! Our suite was beautiful! The food was excellent and the service amazing! This resort is not on the beach but they have a shuttle to take you to their sister resort a few minutes away, where they have a VIP section exclusively for you! No plastic glasses or paper plates here....talk about being pampered! We were also offered 4 free excursions of our choice! All in all this resort was the best there is and I can't wait to go back!!!!.

Room Tip: If you want a view of the ocean ask for the top floor.... We stayed on the 1 st floor, in a side uni...

Just spent a week at Marival Residences. Fabulous food and service in an all inclusive. From the Free tours and Unlimited Golf, everything was top notch. Excellent Food and Drinks as well as private VIP oceanfront beach at sister resort make this a vacation anyone would love. Staff is very friendly and always helpful. The grounds and rooms were alway immaculate and never anything out of place. A little quiet but if seeking more action, a two minute golf cart ride to Sister resort provides all action you desire and can return to quiet, relaxing atmosphere of Residence when you want. Rooms are spacious and filled with every amenity desired including full kitchen, dining room table, and some have private pool and deck. All have spacious balcony. We stayed on 6th floor so had private pool and deck. Just amazing. Can't wait to return to Marival for another go around. Bed was very comfortable but a little firmer than normal at hotels. Food choices were plentiful and no reservations required but never a wait. Al a carte or buffet. We loved breakfast menu. No card for towels or shortage of chairs like at most all inclusives. Everything is provided with no hassle. Drinks all upper shelf as well as food. Concierge always helpful and always someone there.

Room Tip: Rooms on fourth floor or above have Ocean View. Sixth floor penthouses best with private pool and...
