“Loved the Hard Rock Hotel”
Reviewed April 2, 2013

My husband an dI stayed at the Hard Rock Hotel for a week in March. The weather was very nice and hot. We were able to get a chair at the pool whenever we happened to want one. The only negative I can think of is the pool chairs were very hard to get comfortable on if you wanted to lay on your stomach. The hotel was not very busy when we were there (which we loved)so we were able to eat at a different hotel almost every night. The food was amazing, especially the steak at the Romantic Dinner. Great!! The staff at all the restaurants were amazing. We also went to Rhythm of the Night tour and saw whales on the way. The other tour we took was the zip lining. We thought it was great value for 32.00. Another day we walked along the beautiful beach to the town of Bucerius. Had fun browsing through the shops. We also used the spa 5 times. Pepe was great and treated my husband to his first pedicure, which he loved. All in all we had the best time at Hard Rock Puerto Vallarta. All the staff were so genuine and caring and we felt so lucky to get to stay there. We will definitely be going back and hopefully bringing our whole family.

Hola SherriB950,

We are super happy to know that you and your husband spent an entire week party-rocking with us: thanks for sharing your Rock experience.

It is very encouraging to learn you savored the exquisite food we’ve got to offer; kudos especially to the chef of the Romantic Dinner. Thank you too for taking the time to acknowledge our Hard Rocker Pepe, he put in a lot of hard work to ensure our guests leave with great memories. Isn't he the best?

We hope to see you soon so we can roll out the runway for you.

We just arrived back last night from 7 days in the Hard Rock Vallarta. This was a wonderful, wonderful trip!! The location was wonderful, the beach is beautiful and boogie boarding so fun. The pool was relaxing they made sure you were never without at drink, especially Lenon and Roberto at the swim up bar, and if you were at the side of the pool, Omar and Juan made sure you had water all the time if you weren't ready for a drink. The pool had some many activities, there was always something going on for our teenagers and us if we choose too. The food was excellent and kept our 14 year old bottomless pit of a son gleefully happy the whole time. The staff was all so helpful, with whatever you needed, setting up the zipline tour!! Which was entertaining right from the start of the 45 minute ride there. The staff at the zipline was great as well, even getting our nervous 16 daughter to try it, and then she never looked back. The also helped with the chartering of a boat for a snorkel/fishing trip. This turned out amazing as we ended up seeing whales, manta rays and enormous sea turtle. To crowning bonus of the trip was both our 14 year old and our friends 14 year old boy caught good sized jack fish which made their trip. The only suggestion I would have is get rid of the huge jacuzzi in the room and put in bigger beds. The doubles were a little tight for our family, we did get a cot for our son, and my daughter and I shared, but there is no way I could have shared with my husband. The jacuzzi might be great for couples but maybe some rooms for families are a thought. That being said we would return to the Hard Rock in a heart beat, and I'm already thinking about next year.

The Hard Rock Hotel Vallarta is a beautiful hotel with amazing staff. We are a young couple in our early twenties travelling from Ontario, Canada. We travelled from February 1 to February 8, 2013. We had a wonderful vacation and would highly recommend this hotel to anyone. The hotel is beautiful - modern style with unique decor and very clean. We had a very nice room with a walk in shower, double jacuzzi, safe, in-room bar, well stocked fridge, and a very comfortable bed! Also, a great view overlooking the pool and a partial oceanview. It appeared that the majority of the rooms would have a nice view. The beach is beautiful - darker sand but very clean. It is a wide and long beach - able to walk over an hour one direction - sand packs well so it is great for both walking and running. The staff truly go above and beyond to ensure your stay is perfect - far too many wonderful staff members to name. The service we received during our stay was outstanding and it was a pleasure meeting and chatting with the Hard Rock team including the entertainment crew, specifically Diego, Ricardo and Silvia, and the bartenders, specifically Octavio and Gabriel, as well as the servers, reception, room service, etc. We loved having unlimited a la carte dinning and it was really great that we did not have to make reservations. There was always lots to do at the hotel which was all included - live bands, bike tours to marina (dolphins, sea lions, etc.) and small zoo (tiger, crocodile, etc.), kayaking, boogie boarding, volleyball, cooking lessons, trivia, and other various games/activities. Liverpool band was awesome and we were fortunate to see them play three times during our stay. The hotel offered many perks which we really enjoyed such as 24 hour room service, turn down service, free calls back to Canada, free Wifi everywhere on the resort, two tickets to Juanes (live band), and a $1500 credit to be used towards spa services, tours, dinners/wine, etc. You do have to pay a 16% service fee but this was still a great offer. A manicure and pedicure using resort credit only cost $11 rather than the full $75. In summary, this resort was fantastic - definitely our best vacation experience yet! Do not hesitate to book the Hard Rock Vallarta - it is a true 5 star! Thanks to the hotel and staff for an unforgettable experience - we look forward to returning! Rock On!!

My mom and I went to the Hard Rock over my spring break this year. Overall, it was amazing! The weather was beautiful in March! The staff was amazing, but in particular Jonathan, Diego, Silvia, and Recardo make the place a lot of fun. The food is all-inclusive and very good, but does get old after a while. My mom's only complaint was that there was no mirror in the bedroom, only in the bathroom. Also, it was March Madness time, and we are huge Duke fans, but we couldn't watch any of the games, because they did not have CBS or ESPN.

Room Tip: Tip the person at the front desk, when you first get there, because he will do nice things for you...

As a party of 9 ranging from 5 years old to 70, this spot worked well to keep everyone happy, fed, safe and busy. We loved the beach (the beach sparkles with gold!) and spent hours each day boogie boarding, with trips to the poolside to swim and fill up on delicious snacks and drinks. The kids loved the poolside pizza oven and ever present ice cream. By the third day, some of the staff recognized our party and made everyone feel welcome, particularly Norma in Fiesta/Marketplace and Gloria and the two Juans in Ciao. We appreciated Adrian's attention to safety at the board/kayak hut, and appreciated Jaime welcoming us and helping organize us on the ziplining outing as well as on our departure. We used resort credit to swim with dolphins (amazing!), massage (amazing!) and ziplining (amazing!). The only negative comment was around arranging the transportation back home. We missed our Canjet briefing due to a minor medical event, and the man at the Guest Services desk could not have been more unhelpful -- directing us to an unoccupied area of binders try to set up the return transportation on our own. Fortunately, the front desk staff, always unflappable, provided assistance in this matter. Thank you!

Room Tip: We loved the ocean view; but I would guess it was noisier than the garden view rooms. If you like t...

We recently went on a quick (4 night) trip to Hard Rock Vallarta. We are members of the Palace Resorts and have been to many of the Palace family including Hard Rock Punta Cana and Moon Palace. We came to Vallarta sooner in the season than we usually travel so it was definitely emptier than we had ever seen any of the resorts before. We thought this was great because we had no trouble getting into restaurants, booking excursions and spa, getting wonderful service, getting chairs by the pool and beach, etc. This resort is small and more like a hotel which was fine for us for the 4 days. We had an ocean view room with a king-sized bed which was very comfortable. Our room was cleaned every time we returned to it. We loved the food in Zen and Ciao especially. I had an aromatherapy massage which I thought was wonderful. We went on the "Rhythms of the Night" tour which we thought was wonderful! The entertainment and music was just great. The only thing I would tell you is that our particular tour saw the performance first and then had dinner so we didn't eat until about 9-9:30. For a person who is a regular 6:00 dinner person, this was a little rough. The other tour we went on (through Vallarta Adventures), and our primary reason for visiting Puerto Vallarta, was the whale watching tour. As we were there March 14-18, we knew we were toward the end of whale watching season, but took the chance anyway. We took the tour in the morning because we were told that it was the best time to see whales. We had an amazing experience. We saw a male breeching several times. We also saw a mating pack. Toward the end we saw a momma and baby whale and the baby breeched several times. We will never forget the awesome experience. The only other time we left the resort was to take a taxi to the shopping area called Malecon. We were told it was the nice, new area. It was quite a ways away. When we got there, I could immediately tell it was not what I had in mind. At each store, there were people standing in front hounding you to come in, handing you come kind of pamphlet for something. Also beware of places that offer tequila tasting - a lot of them are trying to sell you timeshares. I would not return to this shopping area again. All in all, we loved the Hard Rock and would love to return to this resort in the future with our daughter or some other friends.

Room Tip: We loved our ocean view room but the balcony was small - it did not have chairs on it.

The resort is located in an excellent area. Definately the newer, cleaner, and more up to date area. There was some construction going on, but nothing that really bothered any of us in our group of 23 we traveled with (6 families). We chose this place since it was a Palalce Resort and our group stayed at Cozumel Palace last year and had the best vacation and most relaxing time. The set-up is roughly the same as the other Palace Resorts I've been to, excellent food and drinks (good quality liquor when you ask for it), and the service was pretty good. The main difference in the service is that HR is slightly bigger than some of the other Palace Resorts so you don't get that one on one feel and service there like you do at some of the smaller Palace Resorts. As an example, when we've stayed at Cozumel Palace, any time of the day you might want something to eat, all you do is ask and they will find a way to accomodate you if at all possible. At HR, you could only at at the places open the set hours they were open; there was no grill or kitchen open to order from at any random time you'd like. There were places open to eat, but you had to go find those. At Coz Palace, you just ordered what you wanted and they would go make it and bring it to you! The rooms were clean and nice for the most part. The hotel was very clean and the pool and beach areas were always clean and well taken care of. There were activites for kids and adults to enjoy, but most of our kids were entertained simply by the pools and ocean. Speaking of the ocean, the first day in the water, many of our kids were cut by a hiden rope out in the water. They were fairly bad cuts too. I think the rope was out there to divide waters or show HR swimming area verses other areas, which is not a bad idea, but it would be nice to be warned about the rope being there. We arrived at the resort about 1 PM and there were no rooms ready for us. Some of us had to wait until about 4 to finally check in. This was strange as it appeared to be MAYBE 20% full the whole time we were at the resort. I also asked about using my resort credits to upgrade my room like it says you are supposed to be able to do....that is not accurate. They don't want you to use your credits for room upgrades so they tell you they have no larger rooms available. That's BS because as I noted they were far from full and only using half the resort while we were there. The resort credits are "okay", but not quite what you have in mind. Our interpretation of the credits: They jack the price way up on what you want to do, then make you pay a 16% tax to use the credits. Example: We went on their very poor zip lining tour. It cost us $99 per person thru their resort credits. That was fine to use up $99 of credits per person for this, but then we also had to spend $16 per person of our own money on the trip. (So it actually was 83.00 of credits and 16.00 of my cash to pay the $99. The bad part is the lady sitting next to us on the trip was staying at a different resort and she only paid $27 per person for her zip line trip with us!

All in all, the HR Vallarta is not a bad place to stay! There are a lot of good things to it. Our problem is that we were all spoiled after staying in Cozumel last year at Cozumel Palace. Vallarta is also WAY different then Cozumel. Different temps (Vallarta was pretty cold actually), different terrain (we loved the mountain views in Vallerat), different water (Pacific is not near as pretty and clear).

Room Tip: All rooms appear to be good, but when traveling with a family it is tough. 2 double beds are pretty...
