Their water is always dirty brown don't let them tell you its from the rainy season. Their water looks like this year around.

the beach was long and the sand was very soft! The water wasn't as blue as the Caribbean side (Cancun area). There were also lot's of sting rays in the water in the mornings so we couldn't really swim in the ocean until the afternoon. The water was almost as warm as the air! The waves weren't very big, so body surfing wasn't that great however that could just be the time of year that we were there. The beach wasn't too crowded which was nice and the sunsets were gorgeous!

The water is warm but not clear because there is a nearby river running into it. Fun to jump in the waves and body surf.

If you just want to swim around it is worth the visit. Few beaches with hard rocks and sea shells but most of the areas are clean and sand is soft. Water is completely black, so forget snorkeling. Vendors are limited so you won't be bothered much once you say no. Unlike other places where street vendors won't leave you alone.
