Stayed July 17 to July 24

Grounds and hallways and common areas were always clean. There were grounds crews removing brown branches from the palm trees daily. The beach was kept pretty clean as well. The waves were pretty big so there was lots of sand stirred up but the water was nice and warm. There was a noticeable undertow. The pool could have been a lot cleaner by just skimming the floating bugs and palm tree bits and also sweeping up straws and lemon slices etc.

All the staff we encountered form the front desk to the grounds crews, cleaning staff, entertainers, restaurants, bars were always pleasant with a genuine smile and hola!

The room was clean but on the small side with small beds that had a mattress protector under the sheets that was loud every time anyone stirred in the night. Our air conditioner was not very strong and took 3 days to lower the temperature 1.5 degrees to where it was just comfortable. The room darkening curtains were helpful keeping the heat out. The shower stall and the toilet stall both had doors but the overall bathroom area with the sink and closet had no door or visual break to the rest of the room so anyone stepping out of the shower would be in full view of other people in the room. We travelled as Husband, Wife and one son so this would have been awkward except we brought a Dollar Store shower liner curtain and removable self adhesive hooks to improvise and it was crude but worked very well. The safe didn't work properly on two occasions and the ceiling fan stopped working one day as well but all were fixed quickly each time. There was a disgusting swewer smell in our room and outside the in the little hall leading up to our door that got progressively worse each day until we asked for help from our Sunwing Rep to help communicate this to the front desk. The next morning the smell was nearly all gone. The hallways echo loudly so sleeping is difficult when there are loud drunks or groups going by at night.

We really liked;
- The overall cleanliness
- Staff
- Food quality and selection at the buffet including 4 egg/omlette stations in the morning, lots of fresh fruit
- Loungers were always available at the pool and beach area.
- The Mexican and Steakhouse restaurants
- There was a nice breeze at the lunch buffet which is located in the steakhouse building.

We did not like;
- The foul sewer smell in the room
- Loud, small beds
- The bar fridge was not restocked as regularly as it should have been
- Bugs and bites when out lounging around

We enjoyed our stay at RIU Jalisco but would not return to this one, perhaps we would try a different RIU.

Room Tip: - Bring insect repellant - Bring an inexpensive shower liner curtain and removable self adhesive hooks for additional bathroom privacy

We stayed at this resort in for our wedding vow renewal and absolutely loved it!! Beautiful property, wonderful staff. The food was alright and you could always find something to eat and I've found that to be the same at every all-inclusive resort. The beach is absolutely gorgeous....there isn't drink service on the beach but getting your own drink isn't that much of a struggle. All in all I would highly recommend this property and RIU in general as this was the 4th RIU property I have stay at.. Can't wait to return to the Riu Jalisco this November!!!

Room Tip: The higher floors have the best views

Worst resort I've every stay! The room was just "touched up" NOT cleaned at ALL (dirty sheets, unopened waters and sodas in their mini fridge, dirty glasses). Disgusting! AC wasn't working and had to wait over an hour to get it fix. Their adult pool is NOT an adult pool...was full of kids including babies in regular diapers! The resort does offer a kids pool which that water looks much cleaner (clear) than the adult pool. I made numerous complaints and nothing was done and the kids remained in the pool, dirty pool. You're better off swimming in the ocean. The bars, including the pool bar was crowded with kids, what's up with that?! Took over 15 minutes to get a drink. The front desk and management staff don't seem to care for their guests as nothing was done to remedy the situation. The restaurant and bar staff, on the other hand, are pleasant in spite of their labor conditions, they are overworked and understaff. Their sports bar was also crowded with kids of all ages! This might be a great resort for springbreakers but definately not for couples or families. The food is ok except for breakfast they serve the same food everyday I was there, 5 days.

The sea - not clear liked we hoped, not like you would imagine. The water was wavey which inturn mixed the sand in the water making it not still and crystal clear like the pictures and that beach you want so much. However, still very nice. Be ready to walk for an hour down the beach to a bar. We saw turtle hatchlings entering the sea in the late morning. We witnessed a large turtle digging it's hole, laying it's eggs in the sand, filling it's hole back in and then go back in the sea, this was around 11:45pm.

Hotel - not much different to all the others, free bottles of alcohol in your room. Fridge with soft drinks and water. I couldn't find an ice machine to work on any floor! Food was good we thought. Entertainment was ok, we liked the Michael Jackson show. Staff were pleasant. Suitable for disabled. We didn't like the main pool, too many people and felt cramped, so we never spent any time by the pool.

Out & about - this made our holiday, we spent a lot of time out and about. We have never felt so safe and welcome, many times we got into a taxi and went to the 'old town' and which is full of bars, restaurants, stalls and the beach. Everyone speaks English and very friendly, they are greatfull for your visit. Taxis are very cheap.

Must do - you really must go to the 'Rythum of the night' show on a small island, the excursion tickets include a boat to the island, candlelit dinner, drinks and show. See my review and others.

Stayed at Club hotel RIU Jalisco for a second time after 3 years since the fist time we were here. This time for a grown ups - family weekend kind of holiday. The premises are in good condition and I must mention very elder friendly hotel, (my grandparents loved it ). I myself liked a lot the hotel layout overall. Service was very good and super friendly. We were able to check in almost 3 hours earlier (big thanks to front desk staff for that !!!). Rooms are fine, (view was nice). AC worked just fine and cleanliness was up to expected. As A foodie kind of guy I must say I'm not a big fan of buffets in general, but bearing in mind what I was getting into (all inclusive type of hotel) I have to say breakfast buffet was pretty good and food was tasty (specially when it came to "Mexican-breakfast options") but servers were not able to keep up with the guests flow and did not have tables ready and set on time. Had to keep asking for stuff. Lunch time restaurants were average, nothing worth mentioning. speciality restaurants (the Italian one in particular) was super nice and good, I was positively surprise by how good the servers and the whole experience dining there was. Do I recommend this hotel? Ofc yes !, will I be back? I would like to !
