I couldn't say enough about this place. WE loved it!
If you are a spring breaker, this place won't be for you. Crazy college crap not tolerated!
A great place place for adults only. Well kept facility, professional staff, love having room service available.

Room Tip: quieter in the 2nd tower, mountain view.

Travelled March 1-8 by Air Transat

First and foremost the staff are the most accommodating and friendly that we have encountered anywhere and we have been to a lot of resorts including Sandals, Couples and Riu's to name a few.
Secondly the food is good - no contest - good. The only items that we would not chose again were those that had the 'Mole sauce' on them in the a la carte 'Le Patio' restaurant because it came across as having a bitter overtone, otherwise everything was good. A tip for ordering food at the a la carte restaurants is that unless you are prepared to gorge yourself do not order Starters, salads, soup and a Main because you will not be able to eat it all. Portion sizes are very large. I can eat BUT when I cannot eat a Starter of beef carpaccio, ceviche and a main of fish and vegetables - the portions are large!

This is a very well maintained property and kept clean by the staff regardless of how hard the clients try to mess it up. Even the beach had pickers that made it hard to even find a cigarette butt.

The beach is soft sand but the ocean is always rough meaning 3 - 5 foot waves all the time and beware of the snakes, we saw 3 during our stay and heard of another. These creatures should not be taken for granted since they are venomous.

The resort shares its pools with condo owners which did not affect us because we prefer the beach but we did observe chairs with towels draped on them for the entire day with no one using them at all. It is easy to distinguish the condo owners since their towels are generally different from the resort colour.

Beware of the 'Time share' people in the Lobby. The resort uses them as a very lame orientation of the property but don't be fooled as they immediately set you down to try to have you visit other (their) location in return for useless coupons for wine?or meals? If corralled, challenge them that they are 'Time share' and they drop you quickly.

AIRPORT TIP; Don't stop walking until you are outside the terminal which is where your real travel agent contact is. Everyone inside is 'Time share".

We stayed on the first floor immediately above the buffet and overlooking the pools, no problems, no noise.

Room Tip: Try to get an ocean view room otherwise you would just look at trees and traffic.

Dear guest.
I would like to thank you for your comments and tips for future travelers. I would like to inform you that during winter season waves might increase their size. Hopefully, this condition will be over by spring time (April). We are very pleased to know that you have enjoyed your stay at the resort.
All of the Dreams Villamagna staff will be happy to see you back again in your home away from home.

Went with 7 other people in February 2014 and it was very enjoyable. The hotel was very clean and the rooms were really cool. We had a jacuzzi tub for two on the balcony of our room that we enjoyed multiple nights.

My favourite part, however was the staff. Extremely friendly, kind and always very helpful.

The staff involved in the entertainment (activities during the day and shows/events at night) put in long hours that made me feel guilty (I would see them arrive at 9am and leave at 10:30pm..) but they were great at their jobs!

If you are into an all-inclusive, this is a pretty great one. The food was great and the breakfast buffet was by far the best!

I'd recommend considering what you want in the trip, however. If you want to lounge on the beach, in the pool and have a great and relaxing time, this is the perfect place. However, it is in the middle of Nuevo Vallarta, which is sort of a….strange resort town so it doesn't have really anywhere cool to walk around outside of the resort, aside from golf courses.. That said, it is really simple to get to Puerto Vallarta to walk around some cool neighbourhoods!

My family and I recently spent a week at Dreams Villamagna. Overall we had a great vacation and it was well worth the money, however there were definite pros & cons we noticed throughout the trip. The pros made the whole experience worthwhile, while the cons sometimes really tested our mantra of "relax, you're on vacation!" Since everyone has different things that bother them, I recommend people weigh the pros & cons carefully to determine if this is the right resort for them.

Pros:
Rooms were big and clean. There was plenty of room for the four of us (our room had a king size bed and a double, and there was room for a cot or two if needed). The housekeeping staff was great and always kept the room clean. Our room didn't have any strange odor. Another thing that was great was that our room had it's own wireless router, so we always had a strong signal. The balconies were also very large.
The Explorer's Club was awesome! Mimi, Juliana and Francia were great. Our kids (3 & 6) loved it. They actually didn't want to eat dinner with us and preferred the dinner & movie with the Explorer's Club. One of the reasons we picked this resort was because it was the only one whose kids club started at age 3.
The pools were great. They were very large and heated. The one closest to the beach was cold, but the other two got progressively warmer as you got closer to the hotel. The drink service at the pools was also excellent. Someone usually came by at least every 20 minutes to see if we needed anything.
The staff overall were great. They were friendly and worked very hard.
Most of the steak, chicken and seafood dishes we ate were tasty and well prepared. The food wasn't gourmet quality because it was an all-inclusive, but many items were still delicious.
The beach was kept very clean and the vendors weren't pushy. The waiters offered drink service on the beach.
The sushi bar on the roof was great. There was plenty of seating and a great view of the sunset.

Cons
The layout of the rooms offered no bathroom privacy. The divider sheet should really extend all the way from one wall to the next. The glass walls enclosing the shower and toilet are still pretty see-through. Seemed more appropriate for an adults-only vacation than a family resort.
While the staff worked hard, it seemed like there weren't enough of them, particularly in the restaurants. We often had to wait a long time for coffee or other beverages just because the poor waiters were running around with too many tables to cover.
The restaurants themselves seemed to have some basic execution issues, and little things were always going wrong. A few issues we found were: Portofino randomly letting some guests in right away while telling others to wait, while several tables sat empty; the Caribbean buffet ran out of ribs halfway through dinner, and they had to close the grill station for 15 minutes; the lunch buffet had an impressive looking prime rib at the carving station, but I was told it was too cold to eat, and they took it back to the kitchen to heat it up (which took longer than the rest of our lunch); one night we ate at the Seaside Grill and they didn't have enough menus for all the guests; one day for lunch we got kids' menus and crayons, which was great, but that was the first time we had seen them after being there for 6 days; Oceana took over 15 minutes to bring a dessert which was nothing more than a scoop of ice cream and some chopped fruit. I know these seem nit-picky. We tried to roll with it and remind ourselves we're on vacation, but the issues seemed pretty consistent.
In regards to the food itself, while some dishes were good as mentioned above, for some reason pork was always overcooked and dried out. The bacon-wrapped pork my wife ordered at Portofino was so tough she couldn't eat it. Sometimes the buffet trays were not changed out as often as they should have been (one morning this lead to pancakes being tougher than leather).
The concierge staff all seemed to be Vacation Club representatives (who are the people trying to sell the timeshares). They're not pushy if you tell them you're not interested, but we tended to avoid asking them anything because we were afraid of another timeshare pitch.
The one down-side of the pool is the fact that there simply weren't enough chairs. There was room for twice as many chairs than what was there. They were never really crowded, so if there were more chairs, there wouldn't be any need for claiming the spot you wanted early in the morning.

Again, definitely weigh the pros & cons to see if this place is right for you. We had a great time and would recommend this place to anyone going on a family vacation, but would mention the points above as caveats. We may go back, or we may try different places with kids clubs,

If anyone from the hotel management is reading this, the main message I want them to know is that there is a great, hard-working team at Dreams Villamagna. They try hard to make sure the guests have everything they need. The hotel needs to hire more staff and improve on execution problems, particularly in the restaurants.

We stayed at Dreams in 3/2014 and enjoyed our visit. The food at the Portofino Rest. was excellent. I especially enjoyed the crab balls, tuna fillet, and carpacio seafood salad. Service was excellent, waiters very friendly and attentive. The activities were fun. We enjoyed the bike tours, Blackjack, Zumba class, Spanish language instruction, and stretching. The exercise room is spacious with TVs. They have an old squeaky elliptical that otherwise suited my needs, 2 Schwinn spinning bikes in good condition, and two good treadmills. The weight machines half functioned. Free weights, and balance balls were good. Plenty of cold water to drink. I thought from an ad online that they had Hobie Cat sail boats, but there are none at the Dreams Nuevo V., and only a broken one at the Dreams PV.

Room Tip: Higher rooms have less noise after 9 PM
