We stayed at Dreams Villamagna from March 30 to April 6 with my son, daughter-in-law and 2 small boys(18 months & 4 years). Overall we found the resort very nice, clean an well kept. the rooms were lovely with comfortable King beds and nice showers as well as a jetted tub on each balcony. Rooms were very clean and well furnished and mini bars were replenished daily. my husband & I paid a bit more for the Preferred Club upgrade and did not really find it to be good value for the $$ spent. The rooms were pretty much the same with the only added benefit being morning coffee and snacks and daily drinks and snacks the lobby area on the P.Club floor. We also received evening turn down service which was nice but again not worth the extra $$. Air conditioning was GREAT. You hardly could hear it running and the room was always a consistently comfortable temperature with no hot or cold spots.

The service in the hotel and around the pool and beach areas was good. Very friendly staff always ready to help though they sometimes seemed to have "favorite" groups. No complaints about the service.

Room service 24 hrs a day was a nice option as was the fact that no reservations were required at the restaurants. The one area of improvement would be the food selection. Overall the quality of food was pretty good but selection and variety were limited. For instance, the Seaside Grille had burgers, hot dogs, fries and nacho chips for lunch but no salads or desserts or ice cream or any other choices. Oceana was probably our favorite lunch spot with A La Carte menu for lunch. Oscar the waiter was always ready to get us whatever we wanted with our small kids. Portofino was disappointing with poorly cooked pasta. not good for an "Italian" restaurant. The buffet was OK but with limited selection though the breakfast Omelette bar was excellent. I did not have the opportunity to try El Patio though my son said it was pretty good. Overall - for the caliber of the resort we have been to less expensive resorts and had much better food.

Bars were good for the most part. Fili in the Lobby bar was great. Drink variety was good as well. Evening Entertainment was limited but of good quality. We did not use the daily activity services much so no comment there. Not much in the way of nightlife here. No disco. The Gohan roof top lounge was very nice.

We had to use the services of the resort doctor and were treated well and provided with good care for our young grandson who was ill with fever and tonsillitis.

Overall we had a great vacation at this resort but the upgrade was not really worth the extra $$ and the food selection and quality could be improved.

Room Tip: Oceanview is nice but don't bother with the P. Club upgrade.

We have been to Mexico a number of times, Pacific and Caribbean. We stayed in Nuevo Vallarta last year in March for 2 weeks and we loved it. 10 mile beach, nice hotel, great food and most of the guests were Canadian. Some friends we met last year at the Riu Pallace suggested the Dreams Villamagna for this year as they had stayed there before and found it great.

They advertize this Hotel as a 5 star, not even close, in our oppinion this is a 3 star hotel at best, very short of staff, very short on supplies. There are 360 rooms between the condo's and the hotel which share the pool. The were very short of chairs and umbella's. I counted 140 chairs and 19 umbella's for approximately 700 people. The patio chairs and umbrella's were literally falling apart, they had security managing the chairs and umbellas and we wittnessed people fighting over the same, not a plesant experience.

This is the first time I've stayed at a Dreams hotel. I'd come back again. Service staff were amazing...very friendly and always willing to help.
Food was good at all restaurants, my favorite had to be Oceana. Roof top sushi bar had a view to die for, perfect spot to watch a sunset.
If you want some shopping best way is via the bus..it takes you to downtown Puerta Vallarta which is a must see. For two people it cost about $7 round trip vs $50 via taxi.
The beach was a blast lots of good waves and great sand.

Worth a visit.

29 in our group age ranging from 5 yrs to 80 years. We had a fantastic time. 24 hour room service was the best part for the teens as well as all the planned activities for the day. Bungee trampoline, Olympics on the beach, volleyball, yoga, zumba, arts and crafts. Mitch, Johny, Bboy were the best hosts anyone could have. Every day the whole staff made sure to ask if we needed anything. The nightly entertainment was appealing to all. Favorites- the hypnotist, circus, fire show. Rooms were clean and beautiful. Favorite restaurants- El Patio for breakfast and Seaside Grill for Dinners. Arturo from Apple Vacations was excellent. He lined up our transportation and exccursions with never any problems. Our hats go off to the whole staff at Dreams Villamagna for making this family vacation one of the best!

Room Tip: ocean view is the way to go!

We stayed at Dreams from March 24-31, 2013. This was our third stay at Dreams Villamagna. The past two times here we loved the place (2009 and 2011). This experience was disappointing to say the least. Since we have been here three times now, I think my review is pretty honest. We were sincerely thinking about purchasing a timeshare...

The positives:

The location is wonderful.
The beach is great.
The resort is quiet - if that is what you are looking for.
The rooms are clean and the oceanview rooms are wonderful!
Room service 24 hrs a day is nice.
No wristbands or reservations is important to us.
The staff is very pleasant and helpful.
It's fairly close to Bucerias (2 hour walk on the beach or 10 min cab) where we like to go to "Fat Boys" to enjoy some drinks and good food.

The negatives:

The food was a significant decline from the last two times we were here. (You can read my 2011 review on this place to note the difference in our experience)

Our first dinner at El Patio was pretty good. However, our dinner at Portofino the following night was not good at all. I had the minestrone soup to start and it was not good. The veggies were not cooked and were hard. It had no flavour. Then I had the veal. Big mistake! I'm not sure what kind of meat it was but it was supposed to be veal wrapped in ham and cheese. I couldn't even cut it with a knife and it was like a big ball of fat! Ewww!

After that, we had a few snacks at Oceana ( I did like their burgers) and we ate at the Sea Side Grill one night and the filet steak was pretty good. However, two days before the end of our trip, it was the Mexican buffet night (Friday night) and so we went down for the buffet. I couldn't find much to eat except the tortilla soup (I liked it at El Patio and it was the same) and the rice. My husband had a plate of food - mostly meat - chicken, pulled pork, etc. Big mistake! That night he felt "funny" and woke up with a stomach ache. All day Saturday he laid in bed feeling terrible! And then the vomiting started. It went right into the next day when we had to board our plane to leave. He was even still sick at the airport when we were boarding. Needless to say, it was not a great end of the trip. The staff at Dreams did call on Saturday night to see how my husband was doing as I had told our 8th floor concierge that he was ill. That was very nice of them but still did not make our final days very enjoyable. As he was laid up in bed, I didn't do too much alone at the resort since I was a bit concerned about my husband. :(

One of the most important things for an all-inclusive is the food. A person spends a lot of time and money on the resort and the food needs to be top-notch in a 5 star. We are not picky eaters but food has to be good. This was so disappointing for us that our favorite holiday spot has declined so much is the past two years. We have bragged to many of our friends about this place.

Sadly, we won't be going back to Dreams Villamagna.

Room Tip: Oceanview rooms cannot be beat.

We just finished up our 5th trip here, we keep coming back because of the location and the staff. They have great staff just to mention a few would be Julio, Fransico, & Boni. We love walking the beach it is one of few resorts that don't crowd in the people around the pools, Lots of space and lots of activities for all ages.

I love Dreams Nuevo Vallarta! I found it to be the perfect combination of a beach resort for the entire family and spa type work-out activities for me. I started each day with Yoga on the beach with Pato. A great class combining yoga and beautiful scenery with a mediatative aspect. After yoga we went to a wonderful breakfast buffet with my favorite "green juice" and lots of fresh fruit- as well as great omelets and salsas for the mexican specialties. Jesus made sure we were always well taken care of. The beach is beautiful, with miles of beautiful shore to explore and great waves for boogie boarding. My teenagers are happy playing volleyball on the beach and making friends in the pool. After all of the eating and drinking I was especially thankful for the high energy Zumba class at the end of the day. Lots of great music and laughing. Thanks to Dreams and the great staff for the wonderful memories.
