“Peace in the centre of the State Capital..”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 25, 2012

Having seen Jalapa in 1987, the only change in the place is that there is much more vehicular traffic [ and it is a place that can get congested ] and lots more people..BUT the city has been well maintained by the administrators and the park and Zocalo have been the recipients of this care and attention; so it is a welcome rest spot after walking around, what is definitely, an interesting city. Walk up the hilly area of the city and wander around some of the quaint alleys and lanes; some of which are reminicent of European towns!

“The park was near the hotel.”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 26, 2012

It affords views of the part of the city below. It is nice, but if it had more vegetation, it would be even nicer.

“Good park to walk around right in downtown”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 1, 2012

It's right in downtown. Beside the cathedral and has a nice area where you can see the lower part of the city

“Great for people watching”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 26, 2012

This is the heart of the centro historico, a great place to sit and watch the people. It's got a lot of very tall trees that shade the whole park, and her you can try an "esquite," a cup of steamed corn kernels prepared with mayonaise, lemon, parmesan cheese, and chile powder as hot or mild as you request.

“A nice park that acts like a main plaza”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 9, 2010

Much is crammed into the center of Xalapa including this park. Across the street in one direction is the city government building and across another street is the state government building. Cross another street is the large city library. Kitty corner is the cathedral with the main street running through all these. The park is about the size of a very large city block and feels like a terrace with a good view of part of the city facing still another direction because of the hills that are in Xalapa. There is no zocalo in Xalapa so this park sort of becomes a replacement for the missing main plaza. The park includes the normal benches, food stalls, balloon sellers, and more. If you walk to the rear side of the park and look down you will find El Agora which is a cultural center and includes an art gallery, information office, and small outdoor theatre for musical shows.
