“Impressive”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 27, 2014

We stayed 2 nights at Best Western Hotel Ceballos on our visit to Colima.
Our room (106) was a beautiful large room with ornate high ceilng, sitting area, flat screen TV, safe, refrigerator, A/C, large comfortable bed and spacious bathroom on the second floor with a small balcony overlooking a side street. The room was spotless, in excellent condition and was quiet until 7 am when the Cathedral bells will wake you up. For the quality of that room, the room rate was reasonable.
WiFi in the room was strong.
The bathroom had plenty of hot water, good water pressure and all toiletries provided.

The hotel is located in an old colonial building in the historical center by "Liberty Square", a square surrounded by colonial buildings, the Governor's house, the Regional History Museum and the Cathedral, sadly all the buildings are in need of repair.

The hotel has a restaurant with outside seating, the menu is reasonable priced, the quality could be improved.
The staff, especially the front desk staff was very helpful and friendly. When you arrive you will be greeted with a cold drink and towel to refresh yourselves, a nice touch.
The hotel provides parking which is in the back of the hotel and is secure, they can also arrange a sightseeing tour if you so desire.
Overall we found our room at Hotel Ceballos to be impressive, a title well earned.

We dropped in without a reservation but were pleased to be accommodated. The hotel is somewhat dated, and not in a nice historical way. Our room had no window and the air conditioning was difficult to control. But the hotel had several positive points: 1) internet worked reasonably well almost everywhere. 2) there was free secure parking in the rear of the hotel. 3) the hotel put out a pot of coffee for early risers, very important as restaurants are slow to open. 4) the hotel is located nicely on the main square, with the cathedral in view 5) many of the staff speak some English 6) They have CNN in English!. So the hotel is no gem but they make up for some of the quirks with the little things that other hoteliers seem to forget. As well, it was cost more than we thought the windowless interior room ought to cost. We did not try the spa/workout facility nor the swimming pool.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a window to permit some natural air flow. Our air conditioner was lousy!

The hotel is very nice. I enjoyed my stay however the food in the breakfast restaurant and the restaurant on the street both owned and operated by the hotel are terrible. The food is sub standard but the employees, waiters and waitresses, are very nice. I suggest you eat elsewhere but stay at this hotel. Try and not get a room close to the street or the church bells will wake you early-----VERY EARLY!

this hotel is located right on the plaza at the centre of the city. this makes for convenience in visiting local museums and experiencing life in the square. We found the roof top pool-exercise room and reading room a welcome relaxing area. The buffet breakfast was excellent.

Room Tip: We were assigned a room in the interior with only a pretend window onto a corridor. I thought that w...

At first glance the hotel doesn't look like the big deal but something changes during the stay maybe it's the colonial magic that can turns it into a great place, very peaceful specially out of tourists season (except for exterior noise) so you can either be grumpy about it, or just see the big picture and acknowledge the colonial beauty of the hotel and enjoy it.

We spent two nights at the hotel in late July 2013. It was a very nice visit, and was our second visit in the past few years. My wife was born in Colima. The hotel is centrally located and faces the plaza and one of the main cathedrals. We would highly recommend this hotel.

The only problem was the wifi reception. We had to step outside the room into the sala area for better reception. We survived though.

Room Tip: Rooms close to the plaza are very nice.

I have stayed in this hotel a few times and every time has been a good experience, but the Mexican Independence Day was the best. This hotel is perfectly located to watch the "grito" and fireworks. They have a party in the roof where they serve Mexican snacks and lots of Mexican beer and, of course, Tequila. Friendly staff, clean rooms, traditionally decorated and their breakfast buffet is yummy. I highly recommend it.
