“Loved it! Fabulous view!”
Reviewed March 17, 2011

Dream Weaver is a colorful little inn, very clean, and in a great location. Oscar was wonderful, very helpful. Plenty of parking along the front and up the street. We had the top floor which has its own patio overlooking the ocean across the park. It was quiet at night. Sitting out on the patio during the evenings, with a drink in hand, looking out at the great view, it couldn't be beat…so relaxing! We highly recommend staying there and will definitely be returning!

We had the chance to visit this place and if there is something I regret is not writing this review the first time we went there..
We have no kids so we have a french poodle dog that we love as daugther ; ) this ppl welcomed us with my dog, we stayed in the casita # 2 as always, CLEAN and had everything we needed, the price is reasonable and this guys are just like family in Rocky Point.. excellent service and the the close warm feeling we were looking for, some other Hotels are awsome and Huge, they spend THOUSANDS to make me go there, and Dreamweaver inn just gave us nice service to make us go back over and over and over.. we plan to go back again soon! Thank you so much!!..

If you are staying in this great town for the first time this is the place. Sure it is not a high-rise condo, no pool, buffet, etc. but you are in Old Port where are the best seafood restaurants (we loved Mary's), bars, and views in the entire area. The people who run this hotel are absolutely fantastic, down-to-earth family with good pointers, always willing to help, and make your stay super easy. Big plus: PETS are OK! Free Wi-Fi! $50 +- / night.
Decor is Rustic Old Mexico/Contemporary Mexico/Santa Fe/Beach with modern remote controlled AC, fans, refrigerator, coffee machine, microwave: Clean & Comfortable.
Our favorites in town were:
The Fish Taco
Mary's Seafood (upstairs)
Cholla Bay Beach
Old Port
Las Conchas Beach
Miramar Beach (awesome shell picking)
We just fell in love with this fantastic town, its wonderful people, yummy food. Thank you Puerto Penasco and Mexico, we'll be back for more (maybe be next weekend....?)...

For the past 8 years we have owned a condo in Puerto Penasco [PP] and the past 5 years a home in Santo Tomas. We recently sold the PP condo as we only used it a couple of days per month. We began missing the occasional night spent in PP and one day while walking in the Malecon [Old Port] found the Dream Weaver Inn [DWI]. We toured the facilities with Oscar, the manager, found the facility superb and with rooms starting at $30 we obviously stayed a night. Since then, one month ago, we have rented 7 rooms for ourselves and family at the DWI. Oscar, Lupita and their son, Anthony , treat us as old friends and make sure everything is right for us plus the expense is a fraction of the costs of our condo.
We have stayed at most of the Sandy Beach resorts paying as much as $200 per night and found the experience less to our liking than staying at the quaint personal DWI Sweet to have an Old Mexico feeling while hanging right in the heart of the Malecon. The entire facility is well done with true Mexican flair. Recommended Highly and Honestly.....

As a first time traveler to the Puerto Penasco area, I decided to scout out for quaint place to rest my soul. As I was walking upstairs to the plaza, I was drawn to the statue of Luis Donaldo Colosio M., which I later found out was the patron saint and modern day "robin hood" of the community. Now this is where things get interesting because beyond his right shoulder, I could faintly see a vacancy sign next to a cute red building. When I walked in I was warmly greeted by Lupita and shortly after her husband Oscar who show me an available room. It was the perfect size for a weary traveler. Their generosity was immediately felt when they offer me some homemade cookies, right for the oven! I told the owner,Diane, that if the big chain hotels can advertise their cinnamon rolls they can definitely advertise their yummy oatmeal cookies!! A comfortable atmosphere is always key for me when traveling and also feeling part of the rich culture puts this inn in a class by itself. When you there make sure you spend some time downstairs so you can see the "statue" and then ask Dianne about the story on where is came from..amazing!

The Puerto Penasco community has a lot of civic energy at the plaza. Music, arts, film and on the day I was leaving, a parades are just a few things that are hosted around the plaza. The actual parade we witness was for the celebration of the first day of Spring. The location of the Inn overlooks the plaza which makes a wonderful place to see all the action. So when you want a home away from home in beautiful location let Dream Weaver Inn be that destination for your soul.

God Bless,
KC

After staying on sandy beach at one of the resort hotels, i knew we wouldn't go back, and was so fortunate to find dream weaver -- on sandy beach we were treated with discourtesy and indifference, with a room that was marginally cleaned -- at dream weaver, oscar and lupita treat you like one of the family -- it is obvious that they have a caring attitude towards both the clientele and the facility -- this follows from the love and creativity which went into the creation of dream weaver, both by the artist/creator, and the craftsmen who did the construction -- no two rooms are alike -- our first stay was in the second story suite with the view of the ocean, our second was downstairs, with the handpainted sofa, and the stone bathroom -- during our second stay we bought our 14 yr old daughter, who was just thrilled to stay there, and to be so close to the "malecon", the waterfront where the local people bring their children to walk on a weekend night, surrounded by local street vendors who are selling various treats, such as coconut, sliced open with fresh cooked shrimp, or fresh corn on the cob -- oscar also recommended a dinner at Fredericko's, just down the street, where we got to pick out our just caught enormous fish, then have Juan cook it perfectly -- absolutely the best fish dinner we have ever had, all for $18 for 3 -- our neighbor went next door to the restaurant and bought fresh shrimp, brought it back to his suite, and barbequed it on the terrace -- yes, the terrace has a lovely view of the ocean sunset, and for more privacy, the downstairs courtyard catches the morning sun

what more can i say? -- obviously, we love the place -- before dream weaver, i expected we would not be returning to penasco -- now we are already making plans for our anniversary!

Perfect place for us.

We stumbled on this place, walking around and loved how cute it is. The hosts J.R. set us gringos right at ease.

If you refrain from visiting Puerto Penasco because of the news and fear, you are missing out on a great opportunity to broaden your horizons and embrace another culture. It is not America so you do need to be aware….J.R. will help you out… it is a good test of your character…. to see if you can set your judgments aside and be a gracious guest in Mexico.

Having a friend in Mexico is priceless, it takes all that fear based thinking out and you can just relax and enjoy the culture. I would not hesitate to stay at Dreamweaver alone or with my daughters…it was that comfortable and safe feeling.

We don’t have the money to stay in the fancy resorts so we often stay in old port at $50.00/night. The rooms we have always been clean, but not quiet, not quaint and certainly not with a host that would help us around town.

If you let J.R. know what you he need will do everything in his power to assist you, he won’t look down at you if you tell him you are a bit nervous. We had him tell us where to eat, where to buy good cigars ect... he accommodated us at every turn.

Our rate was $65.00 and worth every penny. I am sure it is more on busy times, and food is optional/for a fee but we felt it was a fair rate. He gave us a great rate for a month, so thinking long term and you can’t beat the fare. Next time you go, stay at Dreamweaver and save some of that hotel money to charter a boat, fish with guide or buy from the “local artisans” J.R. will tell you who to buy from.

Some of you wrote that it was too small and not close to the beach. Okay if you want sand at your door…but you will pay more and may not get a nicer room. The rooms are small, but amazingly cute….this is a very intimate with great ocean views from the patio. A 10minute walk or a 5minute drive puts you on the beach. If you want to stroll along the shores and shops they are all right down the street. Don’t be so lazy…the walk will do you good.

We plan on making this our winter hide out…so reserve us a spot by the fire.
