Our family of 7 stayed for 4 nights over the Christmas holiday. We were a little disappointed that the room was not ready for an early check-in as we had requested but we find this very typical of many hotels so we were not too put out. They did agree to let us drop off our luggage/coolers in the room and then we went out to lunch while they prepared the room.

The room was on the 12th floor and was absolutely beautiful. We also found it well equiped which was a good thing as we always eat in when staying in Rocky Point (except for maybe a lunch out occassionally). Everything appeared well maintained although it was slow and at times appeared a little short staffed (example, we had daily housekeeping which was a little late a couple of days although they did a great job).

We visited the La Maria bar area a couple of times and we always visit it on Christmas Day in the evening for dessert. We found the service to be good and the desserts were all very tasty. I'm glad that our visit was pleasant as some of the other reviews were less than stellar. This is our 3rd visit to Las Palomas and we have had a great time on all 3 occassions - knock on wood!

We have just returned from a 3 night stay in that beautiful hotel. What so beautiful sunset views from our balcony!!! We loved that place, the beach, the restaurants and the mexican food.
But what made us happier was the warm people working there. From my call to reserve a room to the time when we checked out the employees were always very kind.
One day during our staying we got a problem with the heater, something was working bad; my husband called the operator and she immediately sent a maitenance guy. He was very nice and in less than 15 minutes he made the heater to work perfectly.

My chilndren were so happy in the kids club playing games, watching movies and having fun; unfortunately we had to come back home; but we are planning to stay again in Las Palomas in our next trip to Puerto Peñasco. It is a first class hotel.

We have just returned from a week at the Las Palomas in Rocky Point. The resort was incredible and the condo we rented (VRBO) was absolutely beautiful. We consult TripAdvisor regularly and are seasoned travelers. Due to some bad reviews, we went to the resort with anticipation, but not expecting too much. We have come to realize that some people are simply never happy.

Our stay was perfect. The condos are privately owned and this unit was decorated/appointed with no expense spared. I realize that this may not be the case for each unit, but we recommend this property without reservation.

Las Palomas offers a credit and wrist bands when you check-in to ensure a hassle free experience when you want drinks, food, etc. charged to your unit. We used what we wanted and then received a friendly refund of the unused monies at check-out. The restaurant at Phase I is not to be missed; excellent food and very reasonable (dinner for two with four excellent cocktails for $40.00).

We ventured into town for groceries and some sight seeing, but really couldn't wait to get back to the peace and tranquility of the hotel. The pool can be a bit noisy at times, but if you are on the upper floors, the sound is not a problem.

The pools are lovely. There is a lazy river and multiple levels of swimming areas. The main pool is heated (almost a bit too much for a refreshing dip) and the other pools are not. The unheated pools are very cold in December, and we found it too cold to enjoy. Only wish was that there was a medium-temperature pool to enjoy. You may want to bring your own beach towels; hard to come by unless you visit the towel booth very early in the morning.

Overall, this property was very enjoyable and one of the nicest places we have visited. I am very picky and have written some unfavorable reviews here before. Las Palomas is wonderful and we will be going back on our next break!

Additionally, we went to the Friendly Dolphin, as a result of several recommendations - AMAZING FOOD and very attentive staff. Worth the drive into town to experience this locals favorite.

My husband, my 2 year old son, my sister, brother in law and my parents decided to spend our Christmas in Rocky Point and we wanted to make it really nice so we booked the Penthouse Suite at Las Palomas for 5 days and 4 nights. It was the worst idea we could have had. The room was dirty and all the furniture very dusty. It was a very cold weekend and the doors to the outside patio didn't close properly so we had lots of wind coming into the living room. The heater in the Master and 3rd bedroom didn't work and it was uncomfortably cold at night. Our first day we didn't have hot water and the DVD player didn't work so we couldn't watch all the movies we brought from home. Maintenance came up fixed the water but told us someone would come back the next day for the DVD but they never did. The microwave didn't work and on our second day we didn't have water in our room. Housekeeping never showed up on our second day either. Our room phone didn't work so we couldn't call the front desk and had to go down there every time we had an issue which was all day every day. We were told by front desk agents that they are having huge issues with management right now being changed and nothing works at this hotel. Even thou owners pay over $400 a month for HOA nothing is maintained. Most machines at the gym don't work and even the fire alarm had no batteries and kept beeping. Nobody takes responsibility for anything here and customer service is awful. For each issue we had it took many trips to the front desk and nothing was taken care of. I feel bad for people that invested their money thinking this would be a great place. If they keep up the bad work it will be worse than a super 8 within the next year. I will never stay here again and I will never recommend a friend to stay here either.

Do not stay at Las Palomas if you want to return home with all of your belongings. Every day when housekeeping cleaned our room, stuff went missing. The first day it was jeans. We reported it to the front desk. We requested no one enter the room but the next day while we were gone, housekeeping still cleaned our room and two shirts, a bracelet and a pair of earings went missing. We again complained to the front desk, were assured the matter would be resolved, but it never was. Upon check out, we were told there was nothing that could be done. I am disappointed to say we will never return to Las Palomas because of this issue.

I stayed in a very nice 2 bedroom condo at Las Palomas. I have no problems with the unit itself. My bad experience came from the service provided at Las Palomas. I was there during a slow time and my boyfriend and I were the only two people at the swim up bar for most of the trip. Three guys worked behind the bar and we had to BEG them to wait on us even though there were no others customers. My boyfriend gave them a 25 dollar tip the first day there and told them to take care of us the rest of the week......they still ignored us. The front desk was poorly staffed. It took forever to check in. They were rude too. I would recommend anyone to stay at one of the Sonoran resorts instead of Las Palomas. We had much better experiences there.

Beautiful room and property. Spectacular view. The beach is right in front of you.

Advertised internet access. If you have a wire and can plug into the phone, I believe you can get internet access in your room. However, to get consistent WIFI, you must take your laptop to the lobby.

Snack bars/casual dining not consistently open as scheduled (open later and closed earlier).

The place is a kind of a maze. Hard to figure out where you are going. Needs a lot more signs. People that work there not all that helpful...I think there is a big language barrier.

Sewage smell along the beach...depends on day and direction of wind.

Las Palomas, and Rocky Point for that matter, are no bargain anymore. If you live in AZ, spend a little more time in the car and go to San Diego. San Diego really doesn't cost that much more (especially if you can Priceline it). It's a lot safer, more pleasant and doesn't smell as bad. You also don't have to wait in a customs line (dealing with beggars and squeegee guys) to get home.
