Spent one night at the damson dene room 31 , hotel needs a make over all abit old and tatty stains on the carpet, door handles missing, marks on the Walls and radiator.Pool area ok and breakfast was fine, girl on reception was very rude and needs a lesson on customer service. We stayed here as the hotel is dog friendly and that's the only good thing about the hotel, felt like I needed a good scrub when I left to wash the dirty and the smell of the hotel off me .

Room Tip: Choose a room in a different hotel.

We are very disappointed to read this review, as it is simply untrue! Having checked room 31 personally, I can assure future guests that it is comfortable, spacious and in fine condition.
The comments made about our reception staff are also untrue, as it was certainly not the case that they were rude. As seen from earlier reviews, our reception staff are invariably welcoming and delightful.

I have just returned from a two nights stay. Found the hotel a bit tricky to find as it isn't located against a street number, sat nav took me to general area o.k,but it is in a secluded spot so we eventually found a kind lady who gave us directions.
Our impressions of the hotel were very good ,the room was a little bit small but very clean and not a big problem for a short break. The quality of the food was excellent and the fixed priced three course dinner very good value, very pleasing rural views from the resturant. The staff were all very pleasant and could not be faulted in their roles.
Our only problem and that was nothing to do the condition of or service from the hotel was it's location. We found because of it's situation on a narrow country road which had no pavements
walking would be dangerous and it is absolutely essential to have a car to get around the area, the nearest other little country pub was around seven miles away.
If you are happy to just chill out at the hotel for a few days you can't go far wrong with this hotel.

We stopped three nights on a KGB deal. We were made to feel very welcome from start to finish. The room was cosy, but gave us all the room we needed. The bed was a double (we prefer king-size). The bathroom was very clean, breakfast was good too. We'll be back again, and soon

Having bought an Internet deal, we stayed 2 nights at the Damson Dene, everything was value for money the staff where pleasant and helpful, food was good and again value for money as it was higher end dinning we chose from the standard menu but we had plenty of options to pay supplements for the A la carte (bit pricey) the bar was designed to have several snugs which we found nice and private, the Bar had a good choice of drinks and even had a special brew Beer named after the hotel and brewed locally the pool was a nice addition with steam room,Sauna and Jacuzzi, while your there get some pampering from the salon we had for treatments and I would say she has a great training behind her. the views are exceptional and the grounds are delightful. now the not so good: heating doesn't come on till after 7 pm, for us it never did so it was cold in the late afternoon and when getting ready for the evening meal.the hotel is tired but I can see its a difficult market. would we recommend it? Yes if you get a bargain deal then yes, full price look for better!

Room Tip: we had an upgrade over looking the duck pond excellent view!

We have just spent 3 nights at the Damson Dene hotel and have had a great time. The hotel is welcoming, comfortable and homely. The staff are friendly and eager to make your stay as pleasant as possible, our room had a comfy bed and all the facilities you would expect in a 3 star hotel. The spa and gym facilities are excellent and we indulged in a number of treatments which were delivered by a a qualified therapist. The food was lovely, tasty, well cooked and extra generous portions. We are already planning our next visit... The only things that would have improved our stay are, the bath panel in our room (37) had lots of mould and mildew and needs replacing and the shower was difficult to control. Whilst we enjoyed the food we had we felt the menu was repetative for example the same soup was offered 3 nights running.
