We booked the hotel whilst travelling on the motorway from Somerset the receptionist was very good and patient. We had seen the hotel on the program on chanel 4 and decided to give it a try mainly through curiosity. It needs to be stressed that the hotel was nothing like how it is portrayed on the program we turned our one night stay into a two night break making full use of the DBB offers that the hotel offered. On the second day the staff moved us to room 1 with a four poster bed and a jucuzzi bath at no extra charge and the move happened whilst we were out walking. The hotel is clean and tidy and Wayne and his team run a very good establishment. We made full use of the facilities at the hotel especially the swimming pool. We had our dog with us on the trip and all the staff made him very welcome. The hotel is very handy for all the places to visit in the lakes. We will definitely return to this lovely hotel and the warm staff. I do believe that channel 4 were looking for stories and the hotel got sucked into this. This really is a friendly and very comfortable hotel you must give it a try. One more thing a new chef had started when we arrived and the food was excellent. Well done to Wayne and the team

Stayed here for a short break in May. Having watched one episode of 'Hotel' we came with a very open mind. The hotel had lovely gardens, indoor pool, health suite and beautician. On arrival we had a very warm welcome and were served afternoon tea in the lounge.

We booked a basic room and this was more than adequate and very clean. Most of the guests were returning guests to the hotel and I wondered if this was the same hotel as on the t.v. It was and I cannot believe that what was shown was a true reflection of this hotel or the type of guest using it.

We had one evening meal here which was table d'hote, reasonable selection but was well cooked and hot. I would say overpriced.

myself and my other half went to the damson dene for one night only. We got an excellent deal £50 each on the Sunday super saver you get a three course dinner and a full english breakfast . We went just to chill out and relax. We discovered the damson dene on channel 4 their was a fly on the wall series where they set camera's up around the hotel and you got to see all the goings on. (It is being repeated on more 4 on a monday night )so when we actually got to see it in the flesh we was pleasantly surprised as it was portrayed as a bit of a faulty towers but their was nothing faulty about it it was run very well. The staff was really nice and really helpful, Wayne the hotel manager was was lovely too and so was his dog 'fly'. The hotel has small but adequate gardens and you can see them from the restaurant and bar. The menu in the restaurant had something for everyone. Our room was basic and clean the bed was comfortable and we had a lovely view. It was a little bit noisy throughout the night with the doors banging from time to time but overall it was a pleasant stay. There is also a gym and pool if your into keeping fit. We didnt go into windermere centre where their are bars and restaurants but i believe it was only about 3 miles away. We would go back to the damson dene and stay a bit longer and make more of our time seeing the sights their. If you are looking for somewhere reasonably priced and want to get away from it all then the Damson Dene is 'PERFECT'.

My daughter and I were looking for a relaxing homely hotel as a base to go walking with the dog in the south lake district and couldn't have picked a better hotel.
I have stayed in many grand establishments in the UK and abroad and it has been a long time since I stayed in a 3star hotel so it was with some trepidation that I booked our twin room at the Damson Dene.
I had nothing to worry about.
From the minute we arrived we were made to feel at home
We had seen the TV program and read the mixed reviews but all we found was a clean, friendly, well run hotel with staff who are welcoming, friendly, efficient and attentive.
Set in a lovely location close to Bowness and Lake Windermere the views from the restaurant are delightful. Breakfast was terrific, dinner was a delight and nothing was too much to ask of the staff. The guests lounge is spacious, cool and relaxing with a wonderful traditional log fire centre piece. We have a big dog and most 4star hotels are just not accommodating;the Damson positively welcomes your pooch. Our only downside was the fact that there is no air conditioning so rooms can get hot, although this may be indicative of just how spoilt I have become!
TV stardom has certainly not gone to anyone's head and the focus of all the staff is on how they can make your stay an enjoyable one. Big thanks to Wayne (the manager) and his terrific team of players.
I would recommend this hotel to anyone and look forward to my return.
