We arrived just before 6.00 pm on a very busy Saturday evening without a booking. A table for 2 was found for us in a small room with a huge open fire...just lovely. Thank-you very much. We recommend that you book before you go, of course.

Thank Alan S

Service, food and wine all excellent. We had three courses and the best bottle of red we'd tasted in a while and it was all very reasonable all things considered...

We attended a wedding at the local church and then the wedding breakfast at the punch bowl. Lovely setting, beautiful food and very nice staff make this an ideal venue for any wedding.

Lunch yesterday (Sunday). It is not often I am spoiled for choice on a menu, I do not eat meat and am gluten and dairy free. At the Punchbowl I had so much choice I struggled to decide. The chef has been awarded young chef of the year, and it is well deserved. The food was excellent. The service was excellent, and if it was a little pricey, it was worth it. The staff were so helpful, friendly and relaxed. We got to taste the beer before deciding which to have. Three of us ate, three courses each, all different, all an imaginative blend of ingredients, beautifully presented, all excellent. We will be back!

We hadn't been here for some time but found the food even better than we expected. The room we had was comfortabl, spacious, with a lovely bathroom - fluffy towels, robes and underfloor heating. Staff were excellent, as was the service. The meal was imaginative and tasty. i had crab pancake followed by salmon and prawns in a curry oil with saffron potatoes - it was delicious. My partner had a fabulous salad of smoked duck, rhubarb and blood orange - it was excellent. His main course of guinea fowl was just right too. If you want huge portions it may not be for you, but I thought it was just right and a couple nearby just shared some starters so they are very accommodating. Coupled with a lovely fire on a cold night, it was a relaxed evening.
It,s convenient for the lakes, quite near Windermere but in a small village without anything else but lovely scenery.
