“Last minute bargain”

We stay a night at Sella park before a days walking, we did not arrive until mid evening and as it was only a short stay had no real preconceived ideas of what to expect. What we found was a delightful country house set in beautiful grounds (unfortunately we did not have time to explore these) the room was perfect and the staff very friendly. We ate in the restaurant and although the menu slightly limited the food was gorgeous. This is definitely a hotel we will re visit.

We were travelling from cairnryan and had arranged to check in around 10.30pm. This wasn't an issue. The night watchman welcomed us and even offered us a sandwich and to open the bar. as we were tired we declined and were shown up to room.
The room was very big, plenty of space. Spotlessly clean and lovely and warm. Massive big comfy bed. Lots of tea/coffee supplies including fresh coffee and hot chocolate. Plenty of toilettries in bathroom also, sewing kit and shoe cleaning kit
Wifi was excellent too
We had a very good nights sleep. Heard no noise at all.
Breakfast was great and plenty of it.

Only issue was the 3 flights of stairs each time to room. but its an old building with lots of character

My partner and I stayed at the hotel for a famiy wedding and cannot fault it at all. The staff were brilliant, very friendly and helpful (particularly Victoria), the hotel, grounds and marquee are beautiful and such a lovely setting for a wedding. The room we stayed in (Room 6) was lovely, really spacious with a very comfortable bed and big bathroom. Everywhere was very clean and comfortable - I would recommend this hotel for all occasions.

Beautiful hotel, set in gorgeous gardens. The rooms were huge, big comfy bed and a great bathroom. Had everything we could have needed and more. A great base for exploring the Western Lakes. The staff were very friendly and couldn't do enough for us. The food was some of the best we've ever had, a little expensive but you get what you pay for. Overall, a lovely break and we'd love to go back!!

We spent one night at this hotel, when we booked on the internet form we asked for "Soya milk" as I have a dairy intolerance and also a low room as both myself and friend have trouble climbing stairs. On arrival the duty manager who was also the receptionist advised us that they did not have low rooms except one out in the annex, and also didn't have any "Soya" as it was raining we declined the outside room, so he said our room was up a few stairs, after 2 flights up a corridor up another few steps and then up a few more steps and at the end of this corridor was Room 5.
The room was large and the heating was on all night, as it was very windy and raining hard we could not leave a window open so found it very stuffy.
The breakfast was nice but a bit of a disaster, we received a pot of tea which had the tea bag in but no hot water, we then received our breakfast less the toast as this had been burnt,we received our toast after we had finished.
We will not be staying at this hotel again.

Great place to stay, rooms are huge and very clean, amenities are great and food is excellent. Food and drink are a bit expensive but food portions are large and cooked to a good standard.
Service is great, the staff are very friendly and only too happy to help.
It is just outside the Lake District but only a few minutes and you are in the fells or at the seaside or the lakes.
Extensive gardens that are very nice to walk around.

An excellent place to stay if you are wanting to stop in the Lake District..A place with history, with substantial gardens and views.. The rooms are spacious and have all the amenities. The food is excellent and the costs are reasonable.Well worth a visit.

Room Tip: We took up three rooms and all were very good. The family room being a bit larger might be worth th...
