“2 night stay at Orton Hall”

On arrival we found the Clarendon room was very clean & Stephanie had left us fresh milk & biscuits. Very clear instructions on how to use the electric heating etc. When my wife had a bath & tried the jacuzzi she felt cold water pumping through as opposed to heated water with which she had filled the bath with first. Bearing in mind that it is a period home, decoration wise it did appear a little tired & due a bit of an update/tlc. The top (cutlery) drawer in the kitchen was not secure when pulled out & needs to have the runners fixed, so it opens & closes properly. The furniture was nice & comfy. The bed was very comfortable.

The 3 stars are given for the bath issue (which might be down to being less familiar with the use of it) & also for the general appearance which in my opinion needs freshening up. That said we had a very pleasant break staying there. Thanks Stephanie.

Hello Tony, thanks for taking the time to write a review and to let us know about the drawer and the bath - it's always helpful. We'll review the instructions on how to use the jacuzzi so this won't happen next time. We're glad you enjoyed your stay and hope you'll come back and visit us again very soon.

“A lovely Home away from Home”
Reviewed April 20, 2017 for a stay in April 2017

We recently stayed at Orton Hall during the Easter break. The property is a beautiful period house, full of character, with sprawling gardens and woods to the back. The location is ideal in that you can enjoy quiet countryside walks through the village and surrounding areas while at the same time being within short driving distance of all major tourist attractions.
We chose the Clarendon suite which offers a pretty view of the front lawns. The resident rabbits are a delight to watch while having your morning cuppa by the bay windows. The suite is clean, cozy, well maintained and well furnished and has everything you need should you just wish to stay in..a well equipped kitchen, comfortable bedroom and a relaxing spa bath.
Stephanie is very hospitable, helpful and quick to revert and ensures that your stay is as comfortable as possible.
We had an excellent holiday and hope to be back very soon.

Comfortable, cosy, quiet and convenient. Everything we needed and more. Loved the squirrels in the grounds, a delight to see each day. Lovely touch from Stephanie, leaving us milk and cookies as a welcoming gift. Thank you!

“Fabulous weekend”

Orton Hall set in the beautiful Cumbrian countryside with its impressive sweeping driveway and sprawling lawns dotted with grazing rabbits and wildlife is a must visit! We stayed for a long weekend in the very well appointed Clarendon Suite (we did have a choice of other Suites, but have to say we were very glad we chose the Clarendon) The Clarendon has fabulous views across the front lawn, which we could view whilst eating our breakfast from the dining table in the bay window. Whilst we could have dined in due to the very well equipped kitchen (and taken advantage of the sky tv) we opted to eat out at a couple of great eateries locally- tasted one of the best lamb dishes I have ever eaten in The Black Swan, which is just a ten minute drive away! The bedroom was well furnished and the bed was particularly comfortable, just as well after a long day walking in the beautiful Lakeland Countryside. Bathroom was a great size, supplied with fluffy towels and a heated towel rail. All in all we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Orton Hall, especially the Clarendon Suite, and would have no hesitation in recommending it to others, we will certainly be visiting again soon!

“Great and relaxing place to stay”
Reviewed June 30, 2015 for a stay in June 2015

The hall is a typical Lakeland hall, with a lot of character and lovely grounds. The communal areas are a bonus as it makes you feel that you really are lord of the manor. The Clarendon Suite is very well appointed with everything you could need and I didn't come across anything that I needed that wasn't available. The bedroom was cosy and had a really comfortable bed whilst the kitchen and bathroom were both perfectly up to their respective jobs. The best part is the lounge though where you can sit in the window on a raised platform and just look out over the garden and the fountain and watch the clouds scurry past. The whole area is nice and quiet and there are other suites available if you want to make up a group. You can even use a spa/gym, which is a little way away but worth the effort. Stephanie, the owner, is lovely and I came home knowing that I would be going back.

First class accommodation..clean,well equipped..and absolutely spotlessly clean...2 constructive criticisms..could do with a king size bed instead of a double..and shower head could also be higher up...oh and make sure you take advantage of the free spa visit as it's brilliant.
Apart from that we just can't fault it and will definitely be returning..Stephanie the owner is very easy to deal with...thank you.
