Just got back after 6 nights. New to all this so i was sitting on the fence as to whether we would enjoy it. It was better than centre parcs! We had fun and reaaallly relaxed. You do have to get organised with wood, water etc. But once you are set up then it was time to light the fire and have a glass of wine. Met lots of lovely families and our children made lots of friends. We went out most days and came back at all different times to friendly faces and the children loved that bit. We stayed in the village which i preferred. Oh and if you wanted a quiet night, thats ok too it was not noisy, very chilled and plesent. Will be doing it again.

We booked 2 Yurts during the June half term. We arrived late and got lost in the area. Gave Zoe a call and she was very helpful and gave us direction to the camp. Upon arrival we received a warm welcome from her.

The weather was not perfect, but we still enjoyed the stay. The children had plenty to do and explore. The surrounding woods were interesting and had an excellent assault course with good climbs and a zip wire.

The facilities were of a high standard; we had plenty of wood for the fire and the bathrooms were always clean with plenty of hot water on tap.

The Yurts were well equipped and the beds were very comfortable.

Overall we were very happy with our stay and would recommend it to others.

We stayed at Yurt Camp at the end of March. We were very lucky with the weather as it was the first sunny weekend of Spring. Yurt Camp is peaceful and quiet, there have been comments on traffic noise but you do not seem to notice this. If you are used to camping then Yurt camp feels like luxury with a proper bed and log burner that keeps the yurt warm and cosy at night. The management are friendly and helpful and not intrusive. Cooking on the fire pit adds to the experience and the surrounding woodlands are beautiful. Showers are warm and facilities are good. We will definitely be back!

Room Tip: If you want to be close to the shower blocks then chose a yurt in the village area, we chose a yurt...

We had a great time staying at Yurtcamp. It is very laid back and in a beautiful setting. Main criticism would be the standard of cleanliness in the shower/toilet block - it was nice and clean when we arrived on Friday but by the Sunday morning there were no paper towels the floors were filthy and there was little or no toilet tissue. However, the water was always hot and plentiful.

The Yurt itself was comfortable but it would be nice to fill in some of the gaps in the floorboards so that you didnt get quite so much draft. Very well equipped with cutlery, crockery etc., but take plenty of firelighters and charcoal if you want to light a fire outside in the fire pit. The quilts and pillows were very tired but the sheets/pillowcases were very clean.

The Cafe is very good - food and service excellent and the staff were very pleasant indeed.

There is an 11pm curfew for noise and when this was not adhered to the owners took action and it didnt happen again.

If you choose to stay here I would advise a yurt in the village if it is likely to be wet and muddy but in the dry weather the secluded woodland yurts would be nice.

All in all it is a good place to stay - very central to get either to the coast or onto Dartmoor.

Room Tip: Yurt 2 or 14

Stayed for 3 nights in March and we really enjoyed it. The yurts themselves were really nice and very different to the usual camping or hotel experience. We opted for a secluded yurt and got a spot which was like something from a postcard with 360 degree forest and our own little campfire/picnic area. I would return, I would also recommend both mountain biking (in the nearby national park - amazing) and kite buggying in Torquay which isn't too far either. If the main thing you are looking for is an outdoor experience with a whack of comfort then I would say this is a good option.

Room Tip: Go secluded!

I stayed here with a group of friends in two yurts over new year. Overall a great time was had by all and we would probably all return.

Yurts were nice and tastefully decorated but perhaps lacking in a few luxuries - something on the floor would have been good to stop some of the draft coming up through the floorboards. The two yurts weren't consistently done out - one of them had a felt layer underneath the canvas which helped keep it warm and which the other yurt didn't have. The beds were comfy and we were warm enough in our sleeping bags along with duvets provided, but it was relatively mild and I think if it had been much colder (like last winter) we would have been fed up!

Each yurt had 3 paraffin lanterns which were hit and miss and none of them lasted from 4pm when it got dark until bedtime which was a shame. We improvised with candles in glass bottles so were ok but I don't know why gas or battery powered lights aren't provided? A torch is essential as there was no lighting on the outside paths which we found a bit strange.

The log-burner in the yurt was good and we were provided with plenty of logs, although the matches provided were fairly damp. I would definitely recommend biting the bullet and buying some firelighters as they make life a lot easier!!

The NYE party was great - mulled cider was provided and the food was really nice. The bar's cheap and has an ok selection. The music that was on was good but we were able to change it if we wanted since all of the other party-goers had left by midnight! Breakfast in the cafe was good.

Toilets and showers were clean although a shelf in the showers would have been handy!

The yurts are near to some good walks and not far from supermarkets, pubs and the beach so very well located. The road noise can be heard but it didn't bother us.

Room Tip: We went for a yurt in the little village area of the camp but the woodland yurts looked nice but ver...

Stayed here with my partner last year. Thought it would be something different to do and we were excited. When we arrived it was very quiet! Arrived at reception and had to call the owners to say we had arrived! They checked us in and showed us to our yurt, we had opted for a secluded yurt as we thought it would be busy, we were in fact the ONLY people there for the whole week!!! The yurt was really sweet inside, nice big bed. We deciced to go for a walk around, but when we left the yurt we relised it wouldn't lock, so we called the owners who came to have a look, they said it was fixed, but as soon as they left we pushed the door and it was not locked!? That night we slept with the bed against the door and got drunk! I slept very well. Next morning maintence guy came out to fix door, still wasn't fixed but said we could move to another yurt and we got to take our pick seeing as noone else was staying, chose one close to the toilets, bit annoying having to move all our stuff though. We made a camp fire and it was a nice and relaxing evening. That night we noticed there were alot of bugs in the yurt and i also found a tic embedded in my leg which was horrible!!! Next morning we both decided to leave yurtcamp early, there wasnt alot to do and it was so quiet, also the cafe was not open. I would return, but would choose my dates wisely and wouldn't neccessarily book a secluded yurt.
