Not a lot to say, excellent place, excellent service, excellent food and even good espresso.
This place is a diamond in the London countryside, seriously recommended for business and family trips over.
I've also been told they do pizza in a wood oven during the weekend!

This is a hugely poncey pub for people who wish they knew Kate. if you like straw hats and red jeans you are in, unremarkable average pizzas cooked by annoying man with beard in what I recall they claim to be an old kiln (looks pretty new brick to me). Overall complaint ( save for braying toffs) is ridiculous queuing up to order average food. Staff unhelpful also. Hopefully will never have to be brought here again

Having eventually found the place, a bit out of the way, we firstly had a drink in the small area. Good selection of Ales and wines to choose from.
The restaurant is quite basic, but has a nice feel to it.
The Sunday menu was not extensive, which I like, but had an interesting variety of choice.
Out of our table of 4 2 shared the fish platter was was excellent, if a little overpriced for what was on offer, while the others had soup which was also superb.
For the main, again 2 shared, having the Muntjac with vegetables, while 1 had the belly pork and the other the Chicken. All meals were cooked to perfection and as tasty as could be, especially the Muntjac.
We ended the meal with coffee and deserts all of which were of a similar standard to the previous courses.

Overall the bill came to £190, which included service charge (why do places do this!), which for four excellent 3 course meals and drinks wasn't too bad.

Will definitely be revisiting - As long as we can find the place.

I first became interested in the Pot Kiln as a result of the TV series sometime ago, which featured the owner / chef Mike. I have been several times on business and privately. You need a good map or GPS or both to find it although it is only 15 minutes from Reading.

Here you will find game and fresh wild salmon ...all beautifully cooked and before the feast you can enjoy some drinks in the pub bar. In summer it is delightful to sit and have a few drinks on the wooden benches outside. This is a place for locals but also Royals very occasionally have visited as it is so special.

I would highly recommend this place as a break from Central London eating ....its a good day out!.
