Spent 2 weeks here after a trip through Southern Sulawesi and enjoyed the resort tremendously. The bungalows are lovely and spacious (pay a little extra and go for one of the ones right by the beach – it's well worth it!), the food is excellent (at least 3 courses for lunch and dinner, always with a wide choice of western and Asian dishes), staff and management are extremely friendly and helpful (where else does the general manager buy you cigarettes when he goes to the mainland?). As for the diving in Bunaken Underwater National Park: Simply wonderful. Lots of critters, spectacular drop-offs and great visibility!

We have just returned from a fantastic time spent at Siladen. As first time divers we were looking for a place that provided a great all round facility and we certainly found it.
The accommodation and food was excellent, and the care with which we were received was fantastic. The diving school was very well run and our instructor had the patience and professionalism that we were looking for. We feel fortunate that we were lucky enough to find Siladen for our first diving experience.

My friend and I were looking for a quiet oasis in Indonesia, and we found it on Siladen island and the Siladen Spa and Resort. First and foremost, the customer service is top notch. For example, thanks to the airline, our luggage was mistakenly transferred to another destination. But Siladen staff and owner did everything they could to make things better for us. They offered us free t-shirts and the very next day, they boated back to shore, drove to the airport, retrieve our bags, and brought them to us...at no cost! They were responsive to our questions. The air conditioner didn't work well when we arrived but it was immediately fixed when brought to the attention of the front desk. I'm not sure where the chef got his training but the food was fantastic. We were not pressured to dive at all, which was great!!! I was able to join the divers and snorkle while my friend stay on the beach and relaxed. The resort is next to a tiny village, which guests are welcome to explore (was very interesting). And the highlight for us were the breathtaking sunsets!!! The resort faces west and has right in front of it a perfectly coned volcano (Manado Tua). The sun sets immediately to the right of the volcano, making the scenery postcard perfect. The rooms were very comfortable and clean, though a tad dark. Highly recommended and will definitely try to return. Many Thanks to the owner and the Siladen staff for what was a highlight of our three week vacation in Indonesia.

We spent a week at Siladen and had a wonderful time. The natural setting of the resort on the small island of Siladen is beautiful. The rooms are large and comfortable with good air conditioning. The food is excellent - the best we've had in any dive resort in the last 26 years. The resort's location in the Bunaken Marine Park makes for a short boat ride to all of the dive sites. The boat crew was competent and friendly. We were impressed with how carefully they handled cameras and dive gear. The diving was excellent - lots of healthy hard and soft coral, abundant reef fish and small colorful critters. We first dove Bunaken in 1998 and the reefs are as healthy today as they were then.

we just returned from a two-weeks-stay and we enjoyed it a lot! we had 30 dives in the bunaken marine park and all of them where nice, well-guided by a team that takes care of everything, that is organised professionally and seems to enjoy what they are doing. this also applies for the "land"-staff and is - to me - a sign that management and team cooperate in a good way.

the friendliness of all of the staff is breath-taking and let's you forget some of the minor issues.

after having read some of the older reviews i can just confirm most of the positive aspects. and yes, there is some garbage in the sea, if one sees the currents in the area this is not a big surprise, it did at least not affect the diving and the siladen beach was - at least in fort of the resort - always clean.

if you expect nightlife then you should not come to siladen, if you can and want to afford it, get a beach villa instead of a garden villa.

if you expect the big stuff like mantas, whalesharks or big schools of fish etc. then bunaken is the wrong area. there is one big school of barracudas, that's it. but the area is know for the small stuff, pygmy seahorses, nudies of all kinds, and the corals are just beautiful.

if you expect to be able to swim in the sea 24 hours a day , then you'd better stay away.

snorkling is great if you join the dive trips, i doubt that snorkling close to the jetty pays off, especially also due to the currents you might have to expect there.

all in all a very nice and special place, maybe a bit overpriced, but this definitely is also a matter of taste.

Great facility , great food, great staff, well organized diving according to our request.

We had a fantastic stay there. The beach party is really a great experience sharing back with the local community.

To find something that could be improve i could probably mention the pool but my daughters had a great time in it.

I cannot wait until i can go there again

We stayed 16 days, and had a wonderful time. We did not expect a top-end resort, and so could enjoy the beach, diving and resort. but if you expect top-end resort and world-class diving, you might be disappointed

Staff are the friendliest I have experienced in S/E Asia ever. Make sure you learn some words of Bahasa Indonesia and you will have a wonderful time chatting with the locals.

The food is very nice, with a huge variety. Drinks are relatively expensive, and dont expect that your favorite soft drink or ice cubes are available every time.

The Diving is good, but far from excellent. Hardly any bigger fish apart from the rare reef shark and Barakudas at Barakuda point. Corrals are very nice but only in depth range of 3 to 12 meters, hardly any big schools of reef fish to be found. You will love it only if you are a Makro-Fan. But even for Makro fans I would say the Philipines offer better diving.
On the other hand, night dives are very good due to the enormous variety of crabs etc. Far better what you can expect from e.g. Egypt or Maledives and about as good as Philipines

The Dive staff are the best I have experienced in S/E Asia. These guys will take care of anything. The only thing left to you is the diving itself. On the downside, it is guided diving only, and guides will poke around with sticks to show you all the little critters which I do not like at all. Leave them alone...

The beach is ok, but there is no swimming on low tide. With high tide comes the rubbish. Dont expect the Maledives, Thai beaches etc. Also, dont expect to have a kilometer long nice sandy beach for a romantic walk.

Snorkeling is good, but the current can be strong. For Snorkeling, you have to go to the old jetty (10 mins walk). Rubbish can be an issue here as well.

The Spa is nice but relatively expensive.
