“WONDERFUL!”

Our stay at the Haven was just Wonderful! We went as a family with 2 adults and 3 children and it was loved by all.
It was much bigger than I expected and very clean and comfortable. Everything we needed was provided and much more! The Wifi was excellent and it was a lovely touch having the incoming calls only landline as neither of our mobiles had a signal. We had a small question so I emailed the owner and she called straight away and it was sorted out!
The area is lovely and we found lots to do with the kids (as well as making lots of sandcastles!) and they loved the little park just round the corner with views of the sea!
The views are AMAZING and it was so peaceful and relaxing but yet so exciting for the kids to be so close to the sea! We were blessed with lovely sunny weather for most of our stay.
We did find it quite difficult to find the property until I remembered a review I had read about it being accessed via the neighbours garden. We had a food delivery from Asda which was the only supermarket that would deliver to the postcode.
We would recommend and I am sure we will return!

“Lovely location”

We stayed at The Haven for one week from 11th April 2015, what sells this cottage is the beautiful location so peaceful and quiet right beside the beach. The cottage was clean and had been freshly painted. The cottage benefits from very good Wi-Fi. Although there is no phone signal there is a landline which will receive incoming calls. There is a very large fridge which was very handy.
The three bed rooms benefit from beautiful views of the sea, there is no bunk beds in the third room as in the photo, and this is now a single bed with pull out underneath.
The cottage is accessed through a neighbour’s garden which we didn’t realise and it took us a wee while to find the entrance. The cottage although in such a beautiful location would benefit we felt from a little upgrading such as central heating although there is a mixture of different plug in heaters and a calor gas heater which we could move around . Also a wardrobe to hang up clothes would be handy and the T.V. was very small but the lovely view made up for this.
When booking I would recommend you book through a booking company i.e. trip adviser as we booked through the owners website it took us a few emails before we got a reply. We booked in January 2015 for our stay at Easter and paid in full in February then we realised we had not received our 10% off as stated on the owners site. We were told this would be returned to us when the good housekeeping deposit was returned after out stay. This was returned three weeks after our stay after us having to ask for both good housekeeping and or 10% off.
The Haven is set in such a lovely location not to be beaten. We really enjoyed the conservatory listening to the sea and looking at the night sky.

“Stunning location”
Reviewed April 9, 2015 for a stay in April 2015

Great views. Ideal if you looking to get away from it all. Very relaxing. Nothing but the sound of the sea and the birds. The cottage is a decent size for 5 adults with 3 bedrooms, bathroom, kitchen/living room, conservatory and utility room. All rooms have sea views. My favourite was the conservatory. Parking and a nice enclosed garden so safe for young children. Gate leads directly onto beach. Mostly stones and rocks with a stretch of sand when the tide is out. The only thing I would complain about is towels not being provided and a welcome pack would have been nice. Also access to the cottage is via neighbours drive which wasn't mentioned. Other then that we had a fantastic holiday

“Fantastic Family Getaway”
Reviewed July 6, 2014 for a stay in July 2014

Rented the cottage 28th June - 4th July 2014 for 2 adults and 3 children aged 7, 6 and 1. Booking was easy and straightforward. Reading the reviews and online description we were very excited, and were not disappointed.

Cottage was much bigger than anticipated, well equipped and clean. Kids were over the moon with the bunk beds, the beach and the very large enclosed garden.

Husband spent most nights (in between world cup games) out trying to catch a sea bass (as the garden gate is directly onto the beach). This suited me brilliantly. Young baby put to bed after an exhausting day of fresh air, older 2 kids watching their DVDs (tv is a dvd combi - but bring your own DVDs) and I worked my way through book after book (loads of book within the cottage for you to borrow which was excellent). Hubby did catch dogfish, bleny and flouder.

Great wildlife around: gannets and terns diving into the sea, ravens, buzzards and kestrels along the hillsides and swallows & blackbirds nesting in the grounds, along with Curlews, oyster catchers and ring plovers on the beach. Rabbits also in the garden, which the kids loved.

During our visit we went to Isle of Whithorn and ate in the Steam Packet Inn (ok pub grub), The Ryan Centre in Stranraer for the swimming/flumes, Agnew Park (stranraer), park beside kings green caravan park and The Clansman in Port William (brilliant food - early bird menu for us - booking a must as we seen plenty of people turned away - lasagne delicious! and great portions). We also tried the StrEatery retro caravan restaurant which was okay. Kids didn't like the cheese or the tomato sauce so they didn't eat much, and was quite expensive at £14 for 2 burgers & 1 chips, however service and views were great. We didn't make it to the Monreith Animal Park which is only 5 minutes along the road.

All-in-all a fabulous time had in and around the cottage. This is a perfect location for a stress-free time out.

Any recommendations? Hmmm a hairdryer would be a welcome addition as I forgot mine, and a better tin opener - really struggled and had to use hubby's army knife.

Bonus? All amenities provided are great. The washing machine meant all washings could be done before heading home. Also, buckets, spades, badminton rackets & kite for the kids to play with.

Would we return? Absolutely - no question of a doubt!!

I have been to a few places in my lifetime but nothing can compare to the peace and tranquility of THE HAVEN. I went with my daughter and my grand daughter and grand son, who suffers with autism and adhd. We all had a wonderful time from start to finish. The Haven offers great base for seeing the wonders of Galloway. You will find yourself watching the sea and the changes. The birds will capture you and you will be forever searching the view from the conservatory to find something new.For those who seek peace and calm, this has it all. Thanks to Jo and her family. J Smith x
