“very good food”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 26, 2012

we have been very positively delighted about this place, since the food was really fresh and very tasty, and the prices were really not exgerrated. However, the service seemed at times to be a bit overwhelmed.

“outstanding”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 23, 2012

excellent food- mostly local, fresh and organic. everything served with huge salads with fruit and flowers- beautifully presented, There is a set menu but one course is plenty- I would be amazed that anyone could manage four or five. excellent friendly service- stunning location, interesting if quiet little village for a walk afterwards, up to the ruined castle. Good value too- we ate all over the dordogne and this was the best place by far for the price. You can order a la carte and they bring you nut and fruit nibbles while you wait. highly recommended.

“French 'rustic' food at its best”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 2, 2012

If you are looking to dine on local produce you can do no better than this place. The prices are very fare considering you are in a very 'touristy' area. I would advise to try and book a table as it gets VERY busy and you may have to wait a while before getting seated if you don't.

“Perfect Dordogne experience”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 26, 2011

Stumbled this restaurant driving back from a trip to Racamadour.

The restaurant serves a limited menu, dressing up local produce that it sells in the adjacent rustic shop. The effect is a perfect showcase of local food.

We ate the three course menu for €17 with a €9 bottle of Bergerac - the centerpiece being a vast but lightly dressed salad with fois gras, gesiers, and duckbbreast with salad leaves and tomato, sprinkled with walnuts and delicate slices of nectarine, raspberries, strawberries and edible flowers.

Next, a small plate of goats cheese with local honey and nectarine, and finally walnut tart and walnut ice-cream.

Finally good coffee with a plateful of caramelized walnuts and a fruity local raspberry liqueur.

Nothing sophisticated here, but eaten on a rustic table with a heavenly view below the castle, and only French for company, it was a truly memorable meal.

Hearty food; heartily recommended.
