We visited this resort in April and had an awesome time. It was by far the best resort we have visited. That being said it was the first time we had traveled to Mexico. The food was great and the service was really good, with the exception of the front desk workers who seem a little cranky.

As far as the a la carte restaurants, they were all good but our favorite by a long shot was the Sushi restaurant and the worse being the Mexican.
Beach was beautiful, but if you have been to Cuba... the beaches are not as nice.
The only thing that my wife and I missed at this resort compared to others we have visited was that there was not a lobby bar to hang out at in the evenings.

I'm going to try to keep this short and sweet. Go to this resort if the price is right. It's pretty awesome. The food is great, great selection, great room service, great beach and an adults only side (pool/swing up bar), very friendly and helpful staff. We would visit again! We had 34 guests for our wedding any everyone had excellent things to say about the resort for the most part.

Room Tip: pick the rooms that are higher up. we had 645 and it was great!

We stayed for a 10 days at this resort and all I can say is I'm already looking to return to this resort next year cause everything is faultless the bar staff are friendly and always looking after you and if you are an un cultured person like my self you won't need to venture out of the resort but only for an exception to go to coco bongo one of the best nightclubs in the world but back to the resort all the staff are friendly once you have tipped them a couple of times on the holiday expect them to know what you like to drink and expect them to offer you a better service then thoughs who don't the rooms we stayed in had fantastic views of the dolphin marina and the rest of the family we went with also had fantastic views and all we can say is the food is delicious try out the themed evenings they provide and even if you have a fussy eater in your group there is always something for everyone , but try to avoid the warm orange juice at anytime but apart from that a faultless andllwell organised resort and plus the entertainment staff are amazing there.

Room Tip: If you can definately go for the deluxe ocean view rooms they are to die for

My daughter and I visited this resort during our Canada spring break. I was a bit nervous about travelling without my husband but felt very safe at all times in this resort. This was very important to me and at no time did I feel otherwise. The town is gated and the resort has a staff person monitoring everyone that comes and goes. We walked into the small town on our own and it was all good.

Our room in the resort was very clean and was well taken care of by the gentleman that cleaned our room everyday. The turn down staff was there every evenings to ask about our needs. Excellent service here! We did have a room that was ocean view delux; we were on the side so I was a bit disappointed with not being able to look out into the ocean but more of a side view of the pool and part of the ocean along the beach. Still nice but not what I was expecting.

The resort itself is on the smaller side. The pool is quite small and there is only one for the family (the adult side has a pool of their own which is much nicer!) and a small hot tub for family. The ocean was protected in a cove so even if the waves in the ocean were on the larger size you didn't feel much in the protected area. However if you are looking for a good, deep swim in this cove - this is not for you. It is not very deep in the sandy area and more suited for children. Fish all around to see near the rocky area.

The restaurants were great - the food was good. After 10 days I was a bit bored with the selection - the buffet could use a better selection of fruits and plain vegetables. If you plan on going into the restaurants; go early. After 7pm you will have a long wait, sometimes up to 1.5 hours. The Oceana restaurant is for adults only but they did have 2 nights out of our 10 that children could go. I really enjoyed this!

The dolphins are just around the back and you can go anytime and enjoy watching them. The walk around the marina is also enjoyable. There are bikes you can take and go for a bike ride. If you are bored at this resort; it is your own fault. They have an entertainment group that is on the go all day and into the evening.

They have a market night that you can buy trinkets and jewelry. I found the sellers to be extremely aggressive and made just looking quite difficult and uncomfortable. If you want vanilla, buy it at the hotel store. I did not know this and walked into town to the pharmacy and paid double.

I brought with us both US money and Pesos. The hotel store takes pesos. The market sellers take both and the sellers in the town take both.

All in all, a very nice hotel, no complaints about anything.

Room Tip: If you retire early; do not book ocean side. The entertainment goes on to close to midnight and is...

My wife and I took our daughters (twins age 8) for a six day vacation to Dreams Puerto Aventuras. This was our third time in the Riviera Maya with the girls. Last year we stayed at Dreams Tulum. We absolutely loved this resort. The resort itself, is considerably smaller than any other resorts we have stayed at. This was conveniant because we were literally a minute walk from room to beach! The beach was perfect, nice soft, white sands, perfect entry into the water. We did some snorkelling from the beach near the rocks on the inlet and saw some amazing sea life (sting rays, sea anemone, etc..) The resort had a big inflated rock wall and trampoline in the water for the kids! They loved it. There are fish everywhere as you enter the crystal clear ocean. The resort also has a beautiful natural pool that has some amazing wildlife in/near it. Iguanas and crabs on the rocks surrounding it, and beautiful fish in it.
We actually decided to do the welcome breakfast on the second day. They paid for our cab ride to and from Dreams Puerto Aventuras to Dreams Tulum, we were promised a few things for our time, 1.) 2 for 1 for the kids to do the Dolphin experience 2.) Two hundred dollars resort cash that we could also use for the Dolphins and 3.) a 90 minute, no pressure presentation/breakfast that guaranteed us to be done in 90 minutes. They made good on all of those promises. We were back at the resort by 10:45am with our Dolphin coupon, resort money in hand!! The presentation was indeed exactly 90 minutes and came with no pressure to buy.
The dolphin experience was amazing as well (see my review for Dolphin Discovery) We used all our coupons and did very well with cost, we did buy the pictures which upped the total cost, but worth it!
The food was delicious, every morning we ate at the buffet. There is an omelet and made-to-order egg station that rarely had a line longer than a couple of minutes. There were always different options on the bufet.
For lunch, our girls preferred the barefoot grill and usually just had a burger or a hot dog, it was quick so they could get right back in the pool or ocean. I LOVED the fish tacos at the Sea Side Grill, nothing but deliciousness!!
Dinner presented us with our toughest choice every night. We ate at the Sea Side one night. I actually used a 20 dollar hotel coupon and purchased lobster for a small price, again, delicious! Portofino was our favorite (men, back a pair of long pants) it's the only restaurant with a dress code, but well worth it! On the last night, we were treated to a very special treat. We got there right at 6 when it opened, my wife was poured a glass of red wine and we were greated by our fantastic waiters and then the chef came out and described to us the specialty for the evening. It was hand-made gnocchi. We ordered it as an appetizer (per his suggestion). He brought it out to us and presented it individually to each of us. It was AMAZING!! Our view was of the ocean and it was a fantastic way to end the trip!
Staff- I can't say in enough words just how fantastic, friendly, amazing, hard-working the staff at Dreams is. This hotel and the family of resorts for that matter, has some of the best staff in the world. We are always treated like kings, queens, and princesses on our trips to the Dreams resorts and this was no different. Wait service on the beach was amazing, if you wanted a bucket of beer, they'd bring it to you in a matter of minutes, the swim-up bar was amazing. Domingo, our bartender for most of the trip was very friendly and always made up frozen drinks for my girls. Alberto, at the Sea Side Grill worked extra hard to serve us with a smile. Willy, the waiter was Awesome!! The rooms were always cleaned and the fridge was always stocked. We were greeted with smiles and "holas" everywhere we went.
Honestly, we probably would consider a buy-in to the Dreams family of resorts as part of their exclusive club package, but we could not afford a down-payment that is required, we travel quite a bit and use our extra spending money for new trips.
We will continue to suggest Dreams/Secrets/etc.. to our traveling friends. As you can tell by my review we can not say enough good things about this resort. We will be returning to Dreams Puerto Aventuras again next year! We are counting down the days until next Spring Break.

Before I end this post, let me give a quick word of advice to new travelers who read the negative comments in this thread. Take them for what they are worth. I believe that some people are just negative by nature and will find the littlest thing to complain about, then they let that little thing ruin their entire trip. There are far too many negative people in this world and if they can't enjoy a week in paradise, then that is sad.

Dreams Puerto Aventuras is FANTASTIC!! GO.. ENJOY!

Room Tip: Ask for the first floor. Our room was on the first floor and it was a short walk everywhere.

We just returned from a 7 night stay at Dreams Puerto Aventuras in Riviera Maya Mexico. The resort is one hour south of Cancun airport. We had an amazing vacation. All inclusive is the way to go! We booked an ocean view deluxe room. Beautiful view, beautiful room. The beach was beautiful. It's located in a cove which was a concern of mine not having access to a big beach, but it was perfect. The beach was never too crowded where you felt you were on top of people. The restaurants were great and we never waited for a table (at 6pm). I liked that none of the restaurants took reservations. you didn't feel the pressure to book reservations days in advance. There were plenty of activities on and off the beach for families. We did 3 excursions. We swam the royal swim with the dolphins at the resort. Amazing! We also did the sea safari excursion which included an inflatable 20 person speed boat to two snorkel locations followed by lunch on a beautiful private beach. The last excursion we did was the ATV four wheeler through the jungle/zip lining through the jungle and swimming in an underground cave. Had a great time! All excursions we did were scheduled for 8am or 9am departure which was nice. We were back at the resort by 2pm. Would highly recommened Puerto Aventuras. Food and service was great!

Room Tip: Deluxe Ocean View was spectacular
