We stayed at the Dreams Puerto Aventuras location from February 4 to 15, 2012. We had a wonderful holiday, the service was second to none. We had requested a room on a higher floor, and away from the elevators so that we would not have to hear everyone walking past on their way back to their rooms late at night, as we are early to bed. Our requests were met and our room was perfect. Sometimes it was a little noisy because of the adult pool - depending on the guests who are staying at the same time as you. Some guests enjoyed the alcohol a little too much and it got pretty noisy, most times it was quiet. But everyone was just having fun so we can't complain.
I'm not sure where the last reviewer from Florida stayed, but there is definitely an indoor bar. We enjoyed drinks there on several nights, got to know some of the other guests, and played a few games of pool. The beach is small and the water is shallow, but we really enjoyed just standing in the water with our drinks in hand, watching the many fish. The size of the beach ensured that we never missed anything.
We were lucky enough to be there for the Superbowl party - and do the staff at Dreams ever know how to put on a party! It was a wonderful time - food was great and the company was even better.
The only downside for us is that the buffet is very small (at least compared to what we are used to) and considering we are just too darn lazy to make the effort to get even a little bit dressed up, we got a little bored with the food. We really have no one to blame but ourselves because there are certainly a lot of choices, and we didn't have to try everything in the buffet in the first few days - it just didn't work for us.
We are thinking about going back though - if only for the Superbowl party!

My husband and I stayed for six days and five nights at the Dreams in Puerto Aventuras for our honeymoon. We stayed this past June. Aside from a little rain on the last couple days, our trip was amazing. We really enjoyed the food at all of the restaurants. The Mexican restaurant was absolutely beautiful, but the Sushi Bar was our absolute favorite. We went there several times. Aside from the food, we really enjoyed the water activities that they offered at the beach and spent a lot of time in the pool bar. On the adult side, Cesar and Fabian were the best bartenders! They made it entertaining every day and both could make excellent drinks! We didn't go to any of the entertainment that was provided. A lot of it is family-centered, but we weren't really interested in that anyway. We went for relaxation! Overall, we really loved the result and intend to go back one day. Highly recommend it!

Room Tip: Our room had a marina view and it was beautiful!

We just got back from a 6 night stay and without a doubt Dreams was the low point on the trip. 2 years ago we stayed at the RIU Palace Mexico and thought this would be simular but Dreams is truly not at the same level. Even if there weren't issues the place simply is not as nice.

The beach is tiny and by tiny I mean the smallest I have ever seen at a hotel. There is also no inside bar which are two pretty weak points for any resort. The bar at the pool was okay at best. I really couldn't believe how slow they were.

Now, for our personal experiences. The first day we got there our sheets had to be replaced due to blood stains on them. Nice, huh? The keys to the room had to be replaced 7 times and they even had to change the locks on the door twice. The first time they told me it was due to the Air Conditioning being on so cold but the problem there is in our room the AC was either on or off because the thermostat didn't work at all. If the AC was off the rooms got so damp that the floor would be wet and even slippery. I live in FL so know what humidity is but this was just not the same at all. There was mold all over our bathroom as well. On the last day we left for an excursion so were gone from 8-5. When we came back the key again didn't work and they again replaced the lock. Now, that day no one came and cleaned our room or restocked the fridge so the staff knew the lock was not working but did nothing. So we had to deal with it upon our return. This took them two hours + so on our last night we were unable to clean up and go to dinner till they were done. By then it was too late to go out so we had to order room service. I also asked if they could let us do to dinner and do it when we got back and they would not. On top of that our room phone didn't work and when I asked a staff member to look at it he also could not get it to work then told me to go to the concierge and they would make my calls..

None of these trip are cheap but it sure does stink when you save up and get this kind of treatment from a place named "dreams".

I agree with another reviewer. The best case scenario Dreams PA is a 3-3 1/2 star but in our particular case they just dropped to ball way to much and would honestly have to improve drastically to suck.

Room Tip: Go to another resort.

Dear Guest,

We thank you for taking the time to share your comments with us here on TripAdvisor. We are sorry to hear that you're expectations were not met during your stay here with us.

It appears from your review that you do not get the chance to experience our inside Desires bar which is located within the main lobby and is open throughout the day and night until 1am.
Our beach is smaller than some of the other beaches in this area as we are located within a private cove however this does mean that our beach is private and the ocean extremely calm which most of our guests do tend to prefer.

Regarding your presonal experiences, there are several points that you mention that we do not have a record of you reporting. Please feel free to contact us directly to discuss these matters further as it is certainly not in keeping with how we treat our guests.

With the key issue, as we do have electronic keys certain factors can mean that the keys unprogram themselves. This can occur if the keys are placed in a bag next to a cel phone or digital camera due to the magnetic strip. We apologize for any inconveniences this may have caused you.

We hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back to our resort in the near future and change the poor perception you seen to have.

Sincerely,

Dreams Puerto Aventuras Resort & Spa

We travelled to Dreams Puertos Aventuras over Christmas 2011 & New Years of 2012. We paid additional for a Superior ocean view but ended up with a pool view. Rather then crediting us the differance back we had to spend many hours negotiating food, beverage & services in order to make up the differance. We will say that the restaurant & service staff were fantastic however conceirge & front desk service was terrible. The absolute worst thing was that upon check out they charged my Husbands credit card for additional room/service charges & then proceeded to charge my card as well. At no time had I signed for this charge nor did I provide a pre-authorized signature. Upon our return to Canada & discovery of the double charged we immediatly contacted the Hotel & they advised us they could see the error & would reverse the charge. My Husband sent emails & called almost daily with no results. In dealing with our credit card company we were able to provide proof that the charge occurred twice at which time they reversed the charge. Then the hotel provided a frauduent receipt with a forged signature which has placed the charge back into dispute. The siuation is going on 7 months old & it is still not resolved. I have indicated to my credit card company that upon completion of the invistigation & reversal of the charge that they seriously investiage this establishment for grounds of fraud, forgery & theft. I have travelled to the Mayan many times trust me this is a sub-standard resort operated by thieves. Travellers beware!!!

Room Tip: Just don't go!!!

Having returned from our 7 nights at the Dreams I have to say we had a great time.
The rooms were nice and large and clean. There was a good choice of resturants, which was great (including an adult only one) we tried all but the Mexican as my wife dont like the food!! All the staff were nice and very helpful....Big shout out to the main man "Juan" at the Buffet resturant.

The entertainment wag great the team worked their butts off keeping everyone happy...a special shout out to Kayla and Michael but ALL the guys and girls did an brilliant job. we had a 4th of July celebration party, 2 mexican nights. For the the kids they seemed to show a movie on the beach each evening.

There are 2 pools,1 adult only and a massive jacuzzi/pool right by the beach.
You get 24 hour a day room service, a minibar stocked with beers, soft drinks and water (restocked each day) all included in the package.
The resturant nearest the beach would deliver food to you on the beach or at least let you take food out onto the beach during the day.

My one and only grip is our room did smell of damp but that takes nothing away from our having a great holiday.

All in all ....all though its not a perfect hotel.....i have to say we had a very good time and a great Holiday and will one day return to Mexico.

We had the most amazing time on our 10 year anniversary at Dream Puerto Aventuras. We brought our two girls and they loved it so much they'd like to go every year. The staff was incredibly helpful, sweet and accommodating. Being so close to the town was nice also, you're able to take a short 5 minute walk and enjoy the shops, dolphin, sea lions, and restaurants. We would definitely return to this resort!! We made amazing memories.

The good-Service, drinks, some food and beach. Juan or Jose, the manager of the buffet is truly the best worker and was so personable. Wonderful restaurants especially the Italian Restaurant. Love to Mateo-good luck with your English classes, you are doing just fine. Beautiful wedding area for those of you who may want to do a destination wedding. Very well run hotel and staff. Everyone had a job to do and did it well. Finally the shows in the theatre were awesome.

The bad-Saving of chair spots on the beach and around the pool, why do people do this? It is so rude. We had to take complete full sun chairs on the beach because people put towels in chairs and did not return for hours. Sewer smell around the adult pool, pewwww. Annoying girl in the gift shop who would not make eye contact with anyone. Hey if you are spending $14 for a bottle of Pepto then I expect a little courtesy.

The ugly-No hot water in our room for 6 nights. Yes, you heard it. 6 nights with no hot water. We notified them twice and then decided to accept it but I realized maybe they do not wash their linnens and towels in hot water. Ewwwww-So if you like to shampoo you hair with warm water do not stay here no matter how good a deal you get.

Room Tip: Do not accept a room on the first floor they smell musty and the Theatre is right there so you will...
