“Fantastic Experience”

Loved the Dolphins, they seemed well looked after. I booked direct with Dolphin Discovery so as not to pay booking agent fees, I advise everyone to do this. Transport is included which was great. The only thing that put me off was that there seemed to be alot of Poo in the water where we were swimming, I know the dolphins have to go to the loo but I would have thought it could have been kept a little cleaner.

“Awesome time!”

Awesome experience, a ton of fun. However, the bay had the microscopic jellyfish that just loved me. Had stings all over my arms and legs. Son had a handful and wasn't the least bit excited. But had I known I would have worn sleeves and leggings or something to cover more skin.

Third time swimming with Dolphins, Best experience to date. The trainers are fantastic, the dolphins are very well taken care of, treated like the trainers own kids!

“Huge fail!”
Reviewed January 14, 2013

We booked our package with our Sunwing rep at our hotel for the Tuesday. When we had to change the day because our 6-year-old was sick, we were charged $30 for the transport. On site on the day, we were charge another $30 because they hadn't received our payment. Admittedly this wasn't their fault, but the real problem and major disappointment was when we boarded our catamaran for the second portion of our package. While the crew seemed friendly enough, our guide (the only english speaking person on board) was obnoxious and rude. Once we got out in open water, we asked if they could use the sail only to be told the mast had broken the day before. Then we realized we weren't going out to the coral reef as planned but to a small bay a mere 15 minutes away from the dock where we could snorkel and just hang out on the boat before heading back. We did go into the water but if there were any fish they were invisible to the masked eye... After swimming around for 1/2 an hour we returned to the boat while our guide stayed in the water enjoying his swim! Needless to say we asked to go back to the dock where we explained our disappointment to the staff, only to be told that it was too windy to deploy the sails. So which is it, we asked: too windy or broken? The answer? A blank stare and a shrug. Really??? This package cost us a total of $500 (not including the extra $60) and wasn't worth half that! When we mentioned that it would have been nice to tell us beforehand that the mast was broken/it was too windy and that (for reasons still unexplained) we wouldn't be going to the coral reef) we were told that that's just not how it works. Really??? So you just don't give people what they pay for and that's OK?
The dolphin swim was interesting. We'd never been on one before and, perhaps naively, didn't expect the dolphins to be quite exploited to the extent that they are, so would definitely not repeat the experience.
The whole site is grossly exploitive yet cheap at the same time.
My recommendation is go to Rio Secreto instead. It's cheaper, you'll support the local (emphasis on local) tourism interests and you'll be much, much more amazed!

“Great time!”
Reviewed January 14, 2013

Although a little pricey, we ended up being the only two people booked for our package, so we had lots of time with the 2 dolphins- lots of interaction and lots of pictures! The pictures were expensive- $119 for the CD with all of the pictures- but they took 190 pictures of our session. If we were to do this again, we would book seperate sessions and taken pictures of each other's time with the dolphins to save money
