Both my partner an were slightly nervous about our trip as we are a same sex couple however we had no need to worry, the staff and other holiday makers made us feel so welcome it really made our trip special.

We stayed in the new premium block in room 505, amazing view as we only had one floor above us. The room was cleaned daily with towel art left on the bed nearly every day. We even came up one night to find our beds had been turned down and a bottle of champagne waiting for us, I had mentioned in passing to the concierge that it was our 6th year anniversary, however we were not married. It was a lovely surprise!

The food is great no complaints our favourite was the Italian in the evening and the sandwich place for lunch or the beach BBQ.

Yes the hotel has been open a while and parts look tired however we were on holiday to relax and that's what we did and the staff were perfect and would go out their way to make you happy (I didn't go looking at paint work or checking for broken tiles)

There is building work going on which is no were near any accommodations, this when completed will be the new reception and will be impressive. I think the old reception will become either another restaurant or a lounge.

We would return to this hotel however I would probably book direct to cut out the middle man.

We stayed at this resort from 20 Feb to 7 March, after much research about resorts in Riviera Maya, we decided on this resort, mainly because it was adults only and had great reviews. We booked months in advance, and annoyingly a few months later the hotel started getting negative reviews with a sickness bug going round, we were going to change hotel but so glad we didn't!!! Everything is all good here now!

We had a long 10.5 hour flight from London and on arrival at Cancun, immigration was reasonably quick and we were on our transfer coach. Journey to the resort took about 1.5 hours but was very comfortable. We were greeted with cold towels and taken for group check in, great idea as saves a lot of time, we also had champagne and canapés. After this we were taken to rooms on golf buggies, very efficiently.

We had a basic junior suite, so glad we didn't upgrade, it was perfect, in block 37 on top floor, so quiet. The room has everything you need, and plentiful supply of towels and bottled water everyday. We used the jacuzzi everyday, which filled quickly. Immaculately clean, spacious room. Nice view of palm trees from the balcony. Bed was massive, huge flat screen TV, well stocked minibar (good selection of beer). If you want wine, order by the glass via room service. Air on and ceiling fan were great.

Concierge thatched huts were great, no need to go to the lobby, they will sort anything out for you, books, mags, sun cream etc.

After researching this resort and having been to Negril, Jamaica, I wasn't expecting too much from the beach area, however I was pleasantly surprised, crystal clear water, fish, lovely and calm, better than I had read about. Good for a snorkel about, and nice to take a kayak out. Red flag was flying most days however it was totally calm so no kayaks on those days :-( this is apparently governed by the coastguard and not the resort.

Food was overall very good, breakfast/lunch buffet and order from menu restaurants are as good as any others, you can choose to eat on the beach at picnic tables, outdoors at a table with service and indoors at Arrecifes. Evening meals were a la carte, very high standard with great choice of restaurants, DO NOT FORGET TO ASK FOR GI WINE LIST, the house white and red were not great!!! The quality of wine on GI list were very good and at no extra cost. We saw people ordering and paying extra when there was no need!!! You'd have to be quite a wine buff to want to pay any extra. The Pinot Noir and Sauvignon Blanc were very good and also available at lunch or from the bar. We mainly ate at Arrecifes buffet for breakfast, then beach BBQ and sandwicherie for lunch. Our fave evening restaurants were Gourmet Pub, although menu very strange!!, Klay Talay and Mia Casa. Room service was always prompt, nice for breakfast and lovely coffee. All laid out on the table for you, great service.

The hotel was at full capacity and we ate during peak times, only were given buzzer on three nights out of fourteen, twice we waited 10 mins and the other time we waited 30 mins, we just sat at the bar and had a drink so no probs.

Staff in general were really friendly, always saying hola, they were very grateful for tips although it didn't seem they were asking for tips.

The gardens and ambience of the resort are immaculate with amazing flowers and shrubs, lovely lizards everywhere. It was so peaceful.

The spa and gym are set away from the resort up the main drive, because of this I don't think many people go there, never busy, it's very modern and pristine. Spa prices as usual were very expensive however you can negotiate with spa staff on the beach in the morning. You are provided with bottled water, towels, nuts and fruit etc in the spa.

Daytime activities were varied, volleyball, aqua aerobics, kayaks, snorkelling etc. We went to a few evening shows in the new air conditioned theatre, perfectly good but I think we were spoiled by the amazing shows at the Iberostar Grands!! Good quality live bands after the show at the main beach bar every night. The Mexican night was good but in a compact area and sharing tables, so be prepared to get social!!

We booked with Thomson and flew premium on the dreamliner, was impressed, worth it for the long flight. No delays and smooth transfers.

We had read about extra capacity of the resort with new premium building (which doesn't look very nice), but being honest the resort does cope with it and as we haven't been before we don't know any different. Sun bed situation is a little irritating, fine if you like the sun but we like a little shade and if you want a bed, these are taken before 6am!!! So be prepared for some early starts. However annoying when people reserve them and then don't use them until 11am or 12pm, then spend two hours there, keep them reserved and then don't come back!! This seems to happen at all resorts though so not sure what can be done!!

Overall it was a lovely holiday, better than we expected, very customer focused and very well organised. Amazing food, good drinks although do specify if you would like a particular brand otherwise you get the local version!

Room Tip: Room 3728 in block 37, very quiet, one minute walk to beach and restaurants!

We had the perfect honeymoon here. Relaxed paradise. Lovely food, great room, beautiful place. They tried really hard for all their guests. We felt very relaxed and didn't want to leave. Was much better than 5* resorts we have stayed in in the Caribbean since.

Stayed in this hotel because it received a 98% rating for food and location. Also displayed in reception were 3 awards from Trip advisor. Consequently thought it was a safe bet.
The room had a strong smell of mildew/ damp and was old. There was a Jacuzzi in the room but we wouldn't use at as it did not look clean. The night-time entertainment was very loud and kept us awake. During the day the beach staff were employed in breaking up rocks and moving them to some sort or sea defence set up. That went on all day every day. The pool we used was a lap pool and it was in a sorry state of repair, clearly tiles had been replaced and they were all crooked and stained. Poolside furniture was tired and old with ripped mattresses and stains.
The food was meant to be a la carte, but was of a very ordinary standard. Definitely not a la carte.
Some of the food in fact was inedible. They also offered additional items on the menu, at extra cost, but these too were poor and after all it was supposed to be all inclusive?
Got stuck with a bottle of wine after they gave us a wine list but after ordering were told this was an extra too. That cost us £47.00. Everyone wanted tipping!
The hotel is 20 years old now and is looking it. Don't trust Thomson or First Choice descriptions. They are not accurate.
Plus there is the time share presentation. AVOID.

We have been coming to the Mayan Riviera for many years and finally made our way to Seaside Suites. There are so many reasons for making this our favourite all time resort. To start with from the moment we arrived we were greeted by name. The typical welcome cocktail and cold towel as we arrived. Our room was exactly what we wanted and setup exactly as we had requested.

The room we had was a ground floor swim up right by the beach that came with butler service. Hector made our stay one of the best vacations we have ever had. We arrived stressed and wound up from the crazy winter and moving into a new home. Within a couple of days we were completely relaxed. There was nothing we had to worry about.

We had dinner at a different restaurant each night, upgraded the beach dinner to the private moonlight dinner. OMG what a difference. Instead of the typical beach hut wrapped in fabric on the sand we were in an elevated hut with proper table and chairs on the beach. The dinner comes with an upgraded menu and a great bottle of Cab Sauv. To upgrade the standard candlelight beach dinner to a lobster/steak dinner is an additional $50 USD. To upgrade to the private moonlight dinner which includes the lobster/steak and the bottle of wine is $69 USD.

Our favourite restaurants were Mia Casa (Italian), Klay Talay (Asian Fusion) and La Carreta (Mexican). All restaurants were good we just liked these. There are several buffet style locations for breakfast which are all decent but only the Vida Garden did A La Carte breakfast service. The beach grill was amazing and has a completely different theme each day for lunch. Our room type allowed us to make reservations for dinner, which was a huge benefit. We ate a 7 PM every night and never had to wait for our table. Others could wait 20-30 minutes if they showed up after 7, which many did. It never looked like a problem as most just chatted at the bar until a table was ready. We never saw or heard anyone moan about waiting for a table.

The main beach area to the South has a great beach with lots of sand to walk out into the ocean. Many of the resorts we've been to before have beautiful beaches but very rocky as soon as you step into the water. The South beach is all sand, very few rocks and lots of reefs to explore while snorkelling.

We did do something new this time. We wanted to go to Coba but wanted a private excursion. Through a tour operator the cost was going to be over $400. We rented a car and drove ourselves. Spent $100 on the car, $20 in gas, $10 admission and $80 for the guided tour on trikes. This was so simple and easy to do. It also gave us the ability to stop and go as we pleased not at someone else's time table. We were also able to visit a great place on the road back from Coba to purchase some great ceramic ware and other things. We were a bit nervous leaving the resort on our own for the 1st time but now we feel very comfortable doing it.

We will definitely be returning to Seaside Suites again.
