We just come back from a week at the El dorado Suits resort. Apart from the weather which was not the best but it was expected as it was rain season the rest was just perfect. I have read some of the less positive review and sometimes it makes me wonder what people can pick up when they are bored!
We were had a fantastic room in the premium block, on the 5th floor with a view of the ocean. The room was very spacious, clean and décor was very nice. The bathroom had a very big Jacuzzi bath with a walking shower. My only suggestion would be to have proper door in the toilet, I understand that we should be pretty comfortable with person we are travelling but we do like our privacy occasionally.
What impressed me is how courteous the staff were, they all greeted us when we were walking around the resort and on many occasions they were prompt to anticipate our requests. The service is very personal and in several occasion we would arrive and the staff that had dealt with us the previous day would welcome us back by name. This is what I call service! All the staff made our stay very comfortable and the one that I can remember are:e (Encanacion and Abrham in the buffet breakfast, Angie our concierge, Conrado at the front desk, Ivan our room attended who made some very spectacular art with the towels, the girls on the beach that ensured that our glasses were never empty and of course all the staff at the Italian Restaurant including the very attentive manager.
All the restaurants are pretty good, our favourite was the grill on the beach, the Gastro Pub but most of all the Italian (we went back three times) occasionally we had to wait as we arrived at pick time but that was not an issue. After all we were on holiday and we were pretty relaxed about it so we went for drink at the bar.
The resort has also a SPA and a Gym, the gym is small but does the job. We used it everyday due to the weather. There is an area with a jacuzzi, deep pool, a room with mud and other facilities but to use it there is a charge or over 30 dollars.
The beach itself is nice, the water is pretty shallow but that was ok for us. One of the days we went to turtle beach, we got up pretty early, took the collettivo (a local way to move around which cost 250 pesos per person each way. £1.50) the little bus will drop you on the motorway and the beach is about 5 minute walk. Great experience!!! Highly recommendable.
We also went to play del Carmen but which had very nice beaches but we were not too impressed with the town and in the particular with the main street.
Overall we had an amazing time in Mexico and at the El Dorado Suites resorts. Thank you again to all the staff and management.
