We really loved our stay at El Dorado Seaside Suites and at the end of the holiday we really didn't want to leave after 2 weeks of being absolutely spoilt. The main thing which impressed us about both the hotel and Mexico in general was the friendliness of the people we met. The staff at the hotel are absolutely wonderful, very conscientious, hard-working and so eager to please. There was never a hidden agenda, they were always so open and friendly, in fact we have not been better looked after anywhere else in the world. The first week of our holiday we just did not want to go anywhere and we are not "beach" people. We were so comfortable on our cabana bed by the sea just watching the wildlife (including pelicans diving), swimming, snorkeling and resting. It was the most comfort we have ever experienced at the beach. Many thanks to Luisa for her excellent service, supplying us with an array of interesting non-alcoholic cocktails. It was also quite amazing to watch the staff constantly preening the beach, picking up stones, seaweed etc and raking the sand every evening.

The hotel grounds were absolutely beautiful, so well looked after, it was a pleasure to walk through them trying to spot rare birds, iguanas, little pig-like creatures and racoons. We were usually woken up at 6.00am by the birds but we didn't mind as it was the most beautiful part of the day and we didn't want to waste any of it.

Our room was in block 35 and was perfectly adequate for our needs. It was very large, well appointed and had probably the most comfortable bed we have slept in, except for our's at home. I would say that they could do with some up-grading and we didn't use the jacuzzi, a comfortable seating area would have been more welcome. We did have a couple of problems in the first week but they were dealt with. The main one was a leaking toilet which they could not resolve and they eventually came and replaced the whole thing. Our maid Virginia was lovely and created beautiful towel art for us every day.

We enjoyed eating out in the various restaurants and tried them all except for Arrecifes in the evening. We tended to go there for breakfast and lunch. Aaron (the restaurant host) was fantastic when dealing with our requests for dairy-free dishes and ensured that all his staff were fully aware of the problem and he was backed-up by Jesus and Fabiola who were excellent. Fabiola enjoyed teaching us Spanish, both the language and cooking.

Our favourite restaurant was Mia Casa (Italian) which was very authentic and as good as many we have been to in italy (thanks to Eric and Rafael for excellent service). We also really enjoyed Vida (Latin Fusion) where Ferdinando and Mateo did a great job, and La Carreta (Mexican). The pork tenderloin and guacamole and coriander dips were superb at La Carreta and we enjoyed the sole dishes at Vida. The best margarita I have ever tasted was served at Vida, it is their house welcome drink and is served with a stick of sugar cane. On our last night Roberto at La Carreta did a fantastic display of making Mexican coffee with fire
.
We ate at sandwicherie a few times at lunch time, usually when we were late for lunch as it stays open until 6.00pm. The burgers were surprisingly good especially the Mexican. Pizzas were ok, but not the best. We tended to eat lunch in Vida or Arrecifes as they had lighter options. the beach barbecue was not our 'cup of tea' as it was the only place we ever saw any flies around and didn't want to risk it. Fortunately we did not even have one stomach upset during the whole holiday.

We had a 30 minute massage at the spa which we have never done before, it was wonderful, very relaxing. The new facilities here are really nice and include a small gym, sauna, steam room and hydrotherapy pool.

We enjoyed taking the colectivo (local bus) to various places, Tulum, Akumal and even Playa del Carmen at night. It was totally safe, very cheap, a great way to travel. We also did a catamaran trip booked with the aquatics centre on the beach, Pablo and Alberto were always very helpful.

We are definitely thinking of returning next year but want to find out first about the impact of the addition of 100 more new rooms being built at the resort. The thing that is really special about the resort is its intimacy ie the beach is not crowded and you can still find totally quiet places to relax and stroll in the grounds. We actually walked along the beach to the Palladium next door which seemed too large, crowded and very impersonal. It only emphasised all the advantages of staying at Seaside Suites.

My fiancé and I stayed here the last week in February and I have to say it was absolutely amazing. We have been back for just over a month and we haven’t stopped talking about it and are wishing we had never left!

I could probably write about 2 million words on how amazing this place is – so I will try to control myself and keep this as short, but helpful, as possible!

First things first – how we got here from the airport. We used Lomas Travel. They were excellent. We did not pay to have a private shuttle and just took a communal one and it worked out just fine. Seaside Suites is pretty far from the airport – a good hour + away. With the stops (we stopped at 2 other resorts) it probably took an hour and a half. They sold beer on the bus – 2 for $5 so it was a great start to the vacation! Lomas also has a travel desk at the resort where you can stop by and set up the bus/car to come and pick you up to take you back to the airport. And while we didn’t book any excursions, if you wanted to, you could book them from this desk as well. I would suggest probably researching ahead of time as I’m sure they will try and tell you everything is great but to actually book it you can do that there. And the prices are really reasonable I thought. The only reason we didn’t was because we just wanted to be lazy and relax!

Next the room. We stayed in a room that was very close to a pool, but far from the ocean. The room itself was great. It had a lovely balcony, big closet and lots of drawers, TV, hot tub in the room and a very large bathroom. We barely spent any time in it, except to sleep and shower, but it was very nice! Housekeeping also does towel animals for you during the middle of the day so when you come back to the room before dinner you will have a delightful towel animal (bird, elephant, swan, etc) waiting for you which was always fun.

The pool/ocean scene is next. We didn’t spend much time in the ocean at all. We did book a jet ski/wave runner trip through the outdoor activities kiosk and I would highly recommend that if you are into it! It was just a half hour but it was so much fun! You get to go out far into the crystal blue water and it’s amazing. The beach itself is rough – it’s very rocky/shelly/coral filled. It’s beautiful to look out on, but rough on the feet. So we didn’t spend much time in the beach. The pools were amazing though! They have a ton of cabana beds and loungers throughout the whole resort. You didn’t need to get up at the crack of down to reserve it either – we would get up around 8 and be out by 8:30/9 for breakfast and put our towels on it then and never had a problem. By the second day we had a favorite spot that we went to every day. The water is not heated so it can be a bit chilly on overcast days – but on the days when the sun was blazing it felt so refreshing and nice. They had a swim up bar at the pool we went to which was great. It is super relaxing and unbelievably peaceful to just lay around.

The food. I have to say I was amazed at how delicious everything was. Our two favorite spots for breakfast were Arrecifes and the Sandwicherie. The Sandwicherie you ate outside which was really nice, but Arrecifes had a menu in addition to a delicious spread of fruit, bagels, muffins, cereals, etc. For lunch what we did most was either the BBQ on the beach or the Sandwicherie. There is a BBQ area right on the beach that changes daily – the seagulls can be a bit annoying, and it is windy, but the food was delicious and it’s all being cooked in front of you so it’s great. The Sanwicherie is also outside but has a menu with waiter service. Both are great. For dinner our favorites were Mia Casa and then La Carreta. Mia Casa is Italian – but solidly good Italian. We were skeptical as we are from NJ which has amazing Italian food – but it actually was solidly good. La Carreta is just ridiculously delicious. We ate here our last night and it was definitely our top choice. The other restaurants are all very good. The room service is even delicious. The only thing to note is that portions are relatively small – some restaurants more-so than others. La Carreta and Mia Casa are pretty good portion wise. But some, especially Klay Talay the portions are very small. But it’s all inclusive so if you want more – go for it!

The activities. The resort has a bunch of activities you can do for free. We did almost every show they had at night and enjoyed each one – especially the magician! He was funny and really good. We also did towel folding – which was a blast! So if the activities are for you definitely try them out! It’s free, none of them are very long, and it usually provides some good laughs and good pictures.

The staff. We cannot say enough good things about everyone at this resort. Everyone was SO friendly and accommodating to everything you asked for. They were around enough to make you feel like you could get anything you wanted any time, but not enough to make it feel like they were harassing you or annoying you. Everyone was an absolute delight. And if people saw you multiple times, they remembered your names! It was incredible. The staff here truly is fantastic and deserves so much more praise than this small paragraph they are getting. You will be sure to love everyone that works there!

The candlelight dinner on the beach. My fiancé and I paid extra to have a candlelight dinner on the beach because we knew we weren’t spending money on excursions and this was something special and romantic. I would recommend everyone do this. Especially if you are celebrating anything – honeymoon, engagement, anniversary. Or even if you are just there on vacation – do it. You basically get a 4 course meal right on the ocean at night. It is so private and you get your own waiter and it is just magical. A photographer comes by and takes pictures (which we did buy 2 of) and then you begin this delicious course of food. Portions were big – this was the only dinner I felt like super full after. Our waiter was incredible. So friendly, so professional and just an absolute pleasure. The dinner on the beach isn’t cheap but it is worth every penny. The ocean air, the candles, the privacy, the amazing food – it was one of the best things I’ve ever done. Such a great experience. Request to be as far from everyone as possible – that’s what we did. And it was so romantic and you truly felt on another planet. I could write a whole article on how fantastic this experience was. If you come here, you must do this.

Tipping. It is all inclusive so you don’t necessarily need to tip. That being said, we followed these rules. If it was our waiter at a restaurant, we did not tip. With the exception of when we had the candlelight dinner in which case we tipped actually 20% like we normally would at a high-end restaurant. We were tossing back and forth if we should just do a few dollars, but ultimately he was so incredible, and the amount of care and time he put into our dinner deserved 20%. We also tipped our bartender if we were there for several drinks. So if we went to a bar and got one drink, we wouldn’t. But our pool bartender where we would frequent all day, he got a tip. We also then tipped housekeeping as well as the person who took us jet skiing and the employees who helped us with our bags when we arrive and departed the resort. We also did tip when we had room service. But really it’s up to you. That’s just what we did.

Now I feel like I need a random section so here goes! They have personal concierges – which basically assist you in whatever you need. It sounds like from some people that they had one personal concierge they dealt with the whole time and that they were incredible. We had several and they were all solidly good – but we didn’t exclusively deal with one person. They also do something annoying with a towel exchange. You are given a towel card at the start of your trip and you use this to get towels. Then every time you want a new towel you have to go back to the desk (they have several little cottages with these in them) and get new towels. It was very annoying. I guess people must steal towels or something. They LOVE champagne there. We must have had probably 20 bottles of champagne. They offer it to you all the time. So by the end prepare to be sick of champagne. There is WiFi in your room if you pay for it. I believe we paid $50 for the entire week we were there. For us it was worth it because we would check emails at the start and end of every day. Our cell phones were not international so it was a way to tell loved ones we had arrived safe and just keep in touch with the outside world. We did not get any message treatments but everyone said the spa is amazing – but I cannot comment on that as we did not go. The resort is small, but in a good way. You can easily walk everywhere and don’t need a map or anything. It’s beautifully designed and just a perfect size!

So there you have it – as short of a review as I could possibly do. Hopefully I remembered it all and hopefully it’s helpful!

This place is literally heaven on earth. It is so fantastic. I would recommend it to everyone. We haven’t decided where to go on our honeymoon but I can for sure tell you this will be on the list of possibilities as it is incredible!

Thank you to all of the El Dorado Seaside Suites employees for making our vacation as magical, special, romantic and truly amazing as I ever could have hoped for!!

If you are looking for a gorgeous, quiet, romantic getaway..this is the place. El Dorado Seaside Suites provides the best quality food, service, spa and so much more. If you are a beach fanatic, Mexico might not be the place for you, however if you love peaceful, beautiful manicured grounds, great staff who provide excellent customer service you'll love El Dorado Seaside. We stayed in building 41, which has swimup suites. I cannot believe the negative reviews, and neither should you. Martin at the pool bar was wonderful and makes the atmosphere worth the trip. Bravo to all the quality staff at El Dorado, best vacation so far after our 10th all inclusive.

Room Tip: Great swimups with best sun thru the day would be building 40

This was our first time to El Dorado Seaside and we definitely enjoyed our stay! The resort is very quiet and relaxing and geared for couples. The service was excellent as was the food. The beach was lovely and although it isn't the best I've been to for swimming it's great for snorkling and just cooling off in the water. There were always beach beds and loungers available for us in great spots. The drink service to the beach was excellent - very tasty mojito's!

We ate in all of the restaurants at least once and never had a bad meal. We tried Vida for breakfast when we arrived but stuck to the sandwicherie for breakfast after that because we preferred to eat outside. The beach barbecue always had something tasty for lunch that you could either eat at one of the picnic tables or take back to the beach bed. We tried room service a couple of times and it always arrived within about a half hour. For dinner, each restaurant had a variety of options and we usually ended up eating three or four courses. The wine was ok. I'm ot a picky drinker so it was fine for me. There are bottle options that you can purchase as well. The service at all of the restaurants was very friendly and helpful.

We booked a basic suite and weren't dissapointed. It was large and the bed was very comfortable. Our building was the closest to the construction that is going on at the resort but we were never bothered by it. We were rarely in the room during the day so didn't hear much of it. The jacuzzi was a nice extra that we made use of during a rain storm one afternoon. We really liked our room option as well because we throught that some of the suites closer to the beach and main bar looked a little public. Even though we were further from the beach (which wasn't far) we like the privacy we had in our third floor room.

Overall, I would recommend this resort for any couple looking for an easy, realxing, quiet vacation.

We travelled with Thompson, our daughters aged 20 and 22, came with us . We picked seaside suites because of the wonderful reviews and it was our 25th wedding anniversay and our youngest was turning 21. We were a little concerned with a few poor reviews just before we left, but I can assure you, we have travelled to quite a few far away resorts and this is ceratinly one of the best. Anything the resort does lack, is more than made up for, the wonderful resort staff.
Quick overview

Beach - okay, not perfect, but further away from the main building, there is a nice stretch and the staff work so hard to maintain it and rake it, so your foot prints are the only ones you see.

Rooms - good size and the beds are large and comfortable- very clean, super walk in shower and the room carer was fantastic, friendly and a new creation of towel art everyday

Food - very good, not as noted Paris 5 star, but as good as any resort we have stayed, the wait was only more than 10 minutes once and you can go to the bar and they give you a pager to come when your table is ready. All were good, our favourite was the Asian followed closely by the Mexican. If you want more spice or more anything just ask and they will galdly help. The manager at the Asian made a special effort for us the last night and it really added to the overall trip,. so thank you again. Also hello to Oscar, who runs the open air sandwich area, many thanks for your hard work and the nice touch for helping celebrate our daughters birthday.

Staff - could name people all day, everyone was amazing, best team we have ever met. Special mention for Karen, Jorge and Miguel for working hard to make everyday fun. Not easy when you are working with such diverse age groups, but you do it so well.

Entertainment - very good, certainly better than your average resort, the Mayan night was great and everyone should try to make it once.

Trips - we went to Tulum and Coba to see the Mayan temples, this is a must. Coba you can still climb the temple, but maybe this is the last year. My wife and oldest daughter went to Coco Bongo - did this with the beach team, but might be better with Thompson for this trip, as it seems although we bought gold tickets, Thompson have another area wih better seat and facilties. They enjoyed it, but it is a marathon, getting back at very late. We also did the Fat Cat sailing trip, was good, the people running it work hard make sure you have fun but the weather was not so wonderful that day, but what can you do.

The guests were of mixed ages, but everyone was friendly and well behaved, everyone we spoke to was having a great time and we would recommend seaside suites to any of our friends. The family were already planning another return before we finihed our last drink at the bar, which I also must mention was a varity of special tasters from the main bar staff, help us while away the last sad hour before leaving.

Room Tip: We stayed in the 3700 block , we asked for a top floor room, in a quiet area and for our two rooms to be in the same block, This block covered everything we asked for. It is towards the back, but only 3 minute walk from the activity area and 5 minutes from the reception area. As most people noted there are very few sea view rooms because of the mature palm trees. Swim up suites, again depends on what you perfer, some people didn't leave their room area and loved them, others wanted the company of others so didn't really use them.
