“Luxurious and restful with great service”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 14, 2011

We had a great time at the "adults only" side of Aventura (Aventura Spa), but would go over to the Cove side for the restaurants and shows as well. The grounds were beautiful and the activities/amenities available were great! The service in particular was wonderful; one waiter who stood out to us in particular was Fernando. It was nice to be able to feel like we had a friend there.

All of the staff were incredibly friendly and the food and service were very impressive. The entertainment staff did a great job in the pool areas during the day to get people together to do activities as well as dressing up for different acts for the night time activities. We felt very safe at this resort and found that the emenities they provided made it very easy to stay within it for almost the entire week we were there, except to go to Playa Del Carmen once for a change in the night time activities.

If you go to the Sports Bar in the lobby after dinner make sure to ask for the bartender Alberto - he is a great bartender, fun to talk to and will make sure you have a great night!

I have traveled to many places using my timeshare weeks and this place is the worst. I am not a picky person who looks for every thing that is wry g and then complains. I feel that this place is a rip off and everyone needs to know why.

Arrival
We were placed in a room that had a garden view. We specifically asked for an ocean view and was told that RCI members are only placed I. Garden view rooms; yet RCI never conveyed this and it wasmnot on their website at that time. After many telephones prior to arriving we were still initially placed in these substand rooms. We looked at four other rooms and was finally offered a room on the Spa side (adult side). The four rooms we looked at were allmin different buildings so we were exhausted. The room we took had just been vacated so we had to wait 90 minutes for it tmaybe cleaned. The hotel was maybe twenty percent occupied. Thus, why not give the confirmed guests the best rooms with the best views.

Room
The rooms are very small and they have furniture that requires updating. The bed skirts, curtains and comforter were dirty. The vents were filled with dirt. The beds were very hard. They have sliding glass doors that require two people to open and close. We were told the doors were very heavy because they are made to withstand bad weather.

All Inclusive Food Package
We ate at every restaurant and all of the food was horrible. I know some will find this hard to believe but it was a problem that all of the guests complained about on a consistent basis. The buffet had weird dishes that were nor prepared properly in that the foods were either over or under cooked. The food choices were limited and the food was always Luke warm to cold but never hot. They ran out of food and took a long time to replace the dishes. There were a lot of strange dishes that should not have been prepared for a buffet. The food is not seasoned and the dishes did not look fresh. The pizza was horrible. It looked like they did not throw anything away and like they saved whatever is not eaten for the next day. The dessert cakes were wet and the choice was limited. The restaurants take a long time to serve you and there is a long wait between courses. Even the served food is cold. The lobster dinner is a waste and several people told us that they walked out on the dinner. The alcohol is watered down. The breakfast is edible but could be a lot better in terms of the types of food served and the taste of the dishes. In short, do not waste your money eating at this resort. We were stuck because there is no other place to eat in the area due to the location of the resort.

Room Tip: Al of the rooms are the same unless you are an owner. Ask for a room with a view of the pool and not...

This was our second family vacation to Aventura Cove, and we already cannot wait to return! Everything was absolutely amazing. Carolina in the kids' club was AWESOME! Our two sons loved her. We had intended on them staying at the kids club during our morning massages, but they asked to stay, and stay, and stay....all day!!!! We are recommending Aventura Cove to all of our friends with kids because it was truly the perfect family vacation!!! Thank you for such an outstanding experience.

We transferred to Adventura Cove after arriving at Xpu-Ha palace which was not what we had expected. Adventura Cove is a beautiful resort. The entertainment each night was fabulous and much more than we had expected! Victor and "Jay" both deserve a raise and a vacation. They are part of the entertainment staff and they worked from morning till night to make sure that our teenagers were having a good time. Victor took us on a monkey walk and we actually saw huge spider monkeys in the wild. There was a mother with a baby on her back and a huge male swinging through the trees right over our heads. This was the highlight of our week! ( The wildlife at this resort was much more exciting than the eco resort of Xpu-ha.)
The excursions were great except the zipline. The dolphin experience was right across the street at a beautiful "dolphinarium". It was clean, organized, and a once in a lifetime experience. (you can pay extra and get more "tricks" we didn't and we still were in the water, hands on dolphins, for about 45 min.) Bargain with them for the photos and videos. They are high quality, but the price they give you is ridiculous. Most people got both CD an DVD for about 140.00 for the family.
The tour to Tulum is extremely educational and beautiful - ask if Edgar is your tour guide! He talks the whole time but we learned so much!
There are alot of ziplines. The one that the hotel sends you to is by the airport and not very pretty. You zip over dirt, rocks , and some scrubby trees. If you want a true jungle zipline we heard that the Jungle Maya zipline was the best.
The food is not great and actually all of the families that we met had family members get sick. Diarrehea and vomiting were the symptoms. If we hadn't gotten sick, the food still would have been disappointing. You just don't have many choices. The one restaurant that was open most of the time got very old. To eat in the Mexican restaurant , the boys HAVE TO WEAR PANTS! We didn't bring pants....so no tacos for us.
STUPID RULE FOR A FAMILY RESORT.
The Spa services that we had were all fantastic! However, if you have daughters who want a manicure you should know that they are not allowed to go to the spa. (18 and over) My daughter had to get hers in our hotel. My son,18, really enjoyed his cleansing experience with the Mayan Shaman. We also had the holistic full body massages and they were the best I've ever had.
My husband's biggest complaint was there was no American beer. He got his hands on a Coors light one day and it was like Christmas! The bar tending was very inconsistent. The main bar in the lobby was very nice, but the pool bar and the others were not friendly and many of the drinks were just poured out because they tasted aweful. Room service was the same way - inconsistent. We ordered food 4 different times. 2 times it was good - 2 times it never came. THEY HAVE OREOS - ask for them.
We found out the last 2 days that you could get them and chocolate shakes at the bars! The kids would've loved to have known that all week!
If you get sick.......the gift shop has cold GATORADE to buy!

PS. They will try to sell you a time share - we took the tour and got a 200.00 credit. The tour took 90 min., so it was a quick 200.00 which we applied to our dolphin experience. They only let you use 200 of your 1500 credit towards dolphins, so this was another 200 that we were able to us.

Would we go again?? Probably not. We spent a huge amount of money on this trip and we could not say it was one of our best experiences. The entertainment was great, but the food and drinks caused us to all lose weight on this vacation!

Room Tip: Pool view is an ocean view with a hammock .

We just got back from a week at Aventura Cove Palace and loved it. We travelled with our 11 year-old daughter. Beautiful facility. The pool area is amazing. We found the staff very polite and cooperative. To that end, I have to give a special shout to Victor, out at the pools, who makes everyone immediately feel like a friend. We enjoyed the food generally, as long as you are realistic in what you expect. Really, the biggest downside is that there is no beach at all. They do offer a free shuttle bus to the Palace resort in Playa Del Carmen, where there is a lovely beach (leaving the Cove at 8:50 am and returning at 4:10 pm). We also took a taxi to Xpu-Ha Palace, where we loved the tour of the ecopark (thanks, Edwin!) and hung out at their pool for the afternoon. The fact you can use the facilities at any of the Palace Resorts was a definite plus.

We had a great time at the Cove Palace! The service was outstanding and the staff was always courteous and accommodating. One of the best parts of the trip was the Mundaca restaurant. Our waiter, Eden Morales, was very attentive to our needs, even speaking Spanish with our daughter. After our first time there, he invited us to a special dinner, where they prepared a steak and seafood dinner especially for us. Congrats to Eden and the Manager, Jorge, for the excellent service at Mundaca. We will be back again in the future!!!!
