Dining options: Dinner, Late Night, Breakfast, Lunch, Delivery, Reservations, Takeout
Description: Gringo's Cantina was formerly Gringo Dave's. Dave has sold the place but the new owners have kept the same theme and made it even better. Gringo's offers great food at reasonable prices as well as live music, sports, and Karaoke. The location on the marina overlooking the dolphins is excellant and the staff is great.

Great waitress, Mexican, there both our am's. Had to mike our coffee but that was fine. Food good value. Creepy 30ish guy hawking the restaurant to passerby ("food, bro?" Ew). Good value for the bucks, fresh, tasty.

We stayed in Puerto Aventuras for a week after Christmas this year. We went to many of the restaurants in the area and were unfortunate enough to try Gringo's on New Year's Eve. We initially went just for drinks before dining elsewhere but after a round of margaritas (only bad ones we had in Mexico) and chips and salsa (very good), we were too late to get in anywhere else. Server was virtually non-existent; Food took over an hour to come out and when it did it was inedible. Seriously; all 11 entrees we ordered were terrible. To top it all off, the waiter lost our bill and made up the amount we owed, possibly a fair number but the place is a joke. Do NOT waste your time or money!

Helpful and friendly. Good location. Liked the swing seats. Interesting range of food. I liked the shrimp cerviche but was too much for one person. Coffee surprisingly good for location.

We are part time residence in PA. So we have tried allot of the restaurants in the area. Including Playa Del Carmen , Akumal and PA. So we are well aware of the type of food that is served in the area.

Gringo Dave's was unfortunately a terrible experience for us. We were told by the waitress that the hamburger 's were home made and the drinks were great.
Both statements could not be further from the truth. The burger was dry and from a store bought patty and the drink( Margarita )had a terrible flavor to it. I had to send the drink back.
Not only that the waitress was definately not dressed appropriately. Her shorts were way to short and tight.
Maybe they were having a bad night?? But after our experience we had heard from others about similar experiences. So I guess we are not far off the mark.
Would we go again....NO!
We wish we would have had a better experience...sorry.

We ate here one night, and it was fantastic!
Freshly cooked food to die for - Shrimp tacos and Buffalo wings - shrimp with garlic butter and jalapeno poppers, shrimp stuffed with cheese and wrapped in crispy bacon, and 4 - yes 4 lobster tails!!! - Their drinks are HUGE and very strong, but so nice.
Felt like real Mexican food - hot and spicy and great quality - not to be missed!
Great waitress - nothing too much trouble - so tip her!!!
