This park and temple is about 20 minutes from Kandy and is a great place for a picnic and to take a break from the ruins and temple circuit. The park road culminates at the base a huge tower atop Ambuluwawa Mountain. It is an easy and safe climb with spectacular views -- all the way to the sea on a clear day, I was told..
The foot of the tower holds a park area with a temple/ church dedicated to each major religion of Sri Lanka -- Buddhism, Islam, Hinduism and Christianity.
I did not venture down any trails and enjoyed my visit. The park is visited mostly by Sri Lankans and has little interpretation but not much is needed to enjoy the sun.
You can travel by bus from Kandy and hire a tuktuk driver to take you to the top, but I used a driver (Lucky 0776508265) that I always use out of Kandy. There are no tuk tuk drivers hanging around on the to to bring you back to town, so be sure to get a number or prepare to walk back down.
