Elpitiya Walauwa
Ranked #4 of 10 Gampola B&B and Inns
Reviewed February 2, 2013

This is an ideal starting point for visiting Kandy and the historic temples south of Kandy. Arriving at this estate is a journey back in time. All the architectural details of this estate are well preserved and you have breakfast and dinner in the same dining room (and in fact at the same dining table), where Queen Elisabeth II once had dinner during her visit to Sri Lanka in1954, The estate offers total peace and tranquility and the opportunity to look closely at various spice trees and bushes while strolling around. The service is extremely attentive and the variety of delicious Sri Lankan dishes served for breakfast and dinner is laudable. Guests can use a computer to access the internet and hang out or work in various living rooms.
