There are audio guides in several languages, the staff is really good, the place is wonderful and not visiting this place is as tragic as its story.

The ruins is an UNESCO world heritage site, the cost is R$ 5.00 about 2 Canadian dollars, also have the audio guide in different languages (the cost would be a little more) . The size of the cathedral is amazing, the area surrounding is full of wildlife.

There is not too many things to see, but the ruins are a piece of history, a must see place.
The tickets are cheap and they give discount to students.
You can see everything in about 60 minutes.

The ruins are awesome and the place is finally better taken care of. The ruins are now protected by a park limited by fences, there is a very nice Museum with pieces collected for years by a dedicated employee, there are many choices of guides (we chose an Indian one and it was very instructive to see their view of history), and a light show that did not do much for us. It is part of the history and should be better known.
