Paraiso restaurant serves the 2 beaches on Isla Ixtapa - Playa Varadero (swimming) and Playa Coral (snorkelling). There's a 2 minute walk to cross the island at this location. We spent the day on the Playa Varadero side, on a nice lounger, under a palapa. We ate at a table, facing the ocean which is relatively calm here. The wind did pick up in the afternoon.
We really enjoyed our breaded, fried fillet of fish served with rice, tortillas, salsa and shredded cabbage. The beer was cold; the margarita only so-so. Note: This restaurant has no bread, hence, no sandwiches. This may be the case everywhere. Remember: bread goes bad quickly in warm climate and everything is delivered by boat.
We came here following a recommendation, and we will likely return as the washrooms were rustic but clean.

There are restaurants side by side on Isla Ixtapa but I'm pretty sure this is the one that cooked the fish we caught and delivered it in style. It was as close to perfect a setting as you can ask for. The service was courteous and considerate and the food tasted so good. Is it just because of the setting and people? Don't know because it was just spices on rice and fish but being right on the beach surrounded by Mexican families and foreign visitors alike make it ideal.

The view and food are excellent. Tina, the waitress has been there 24 years and does a great job. Thsi trip a pet deer showed up and begging for food and I look down and here is a pet rabbit that want to share my peanuts. This is a nice restaurant with very good service and food. Walk over the hill to the other side if you want some serious snorkel but the beach in front is best for calm water and swimming. Great way to spend an afternoon. Remember last boat goes back to Playa Linda at 5 PM.

Take a taxi or bus to Playa Linda & catch the panga to Varadera beach on Isla Ixtapa a few hundred yards from the shore. Sandy beaches & perfect swimming. Relax at this splendid beach restaurant. Cold wine, beers & refrescos together with well cooked fish, shrimp & salads. Friendly service at a great price. Professional massage on site. Not to be missed.

There are several beaches on Isla Ixtapa. We traipsed around to look at all of them and decided to settle in for the day on Varadero Beach as it seemed the most tranquil. We weren't there to snorkel or ride banana boats or jet skis so this beach is the quietest. We selected Restaurant Paraiso Escondido and couldn't have been happier with the choice. Tina, our hostess, took wonderful care of us and brought out fresh red snapper, shrimp and lobster for us to choose what we would like for our meal. We settled on a whole lobster grilled (a la plancha) with garlic and butter. Exquisite! In addition we had lobster tacos and guacamole along with fresh red salsa and pico de gallo. Nothing beats dining on wonderfully prepared food while digging your toes in to the sand and hearing gentle waves washing up on the shore.
Getting there: We took a taxi from Playa La Ropa in Zihuatanejo to Playa Linda (120 pesos each way) which is where the pangas (boat taxis) leave from. Fare to the island is 40 pesos round trip per person and takes about 10 minutes each way.
