I have absolutely no complaints about this resort. Check in was fast. No problems with the elevators except one time when too many people crammed in WITH their luggage and it wouldn't open. People, no more than 7 at a time and no heavy suitcases! Restaurants are great--loved not having to make reservations or wear those stupid bracelets. the only restaurant that required long pants for the men was the Italian---well worth it too. No children allowed there. We did the romantic dinner on the beach one night only because we had coupons from Apple and wanted to do something different---not worth the money. Maybe lower the price, add some music---have a violinist or saxaphone player and include a bottle of wine or champagne instead of trying to sell one.
We didn't spend much time on the beach because the surf was so rough. Other than walking it which is fantastic. Did the parasailing one day. Only $20---well worth it. Don't use the ones in front of the hotel. Walk down a bit to the right. there is a group of about 4 guys working together. Felt very safe and trusted them. Also walked farther down the beach to the massage huts---several times that week. Only 150 pesos for a 1 hour massage. Just be prepared that there are up to 6 tables in 1 hut so you may have company!
The entertainment in the evening was ok. Different show every night. They did casino night one night. Only had a few tables set up and when we got there it didn't look like anyone was getting ready to leave so I am guessing it would have been a long time to wait. Maybe add more tables?
We took pesos with us and used instead of US dollar. Best tip, which I found surprising, we exchanged USD at the front desk and got a better exchange than at our bank in the States.
Pool is fabulous. Yes, you have to get up early if you want to play the towel game and save your chairs. Not sure how that will ever change. yes, people reserve their spot and then don't sit there sometimes until afternoon. We are guilty of that on a few days---only because we were in the pool and didn't want to get out. Here's one thing to know about the pool. If you are trying to protect yourself from too much sun by wearing a shirt, it has to be a "swim" shirt. My husband was wearing a t-shirt and was told he had to take it off as it was not allowed----now how stupid is that rule???? Not sure of the reasoning behind that one.
Walked into town a few times. Very safe and not too many vendors bothering us. There is also a very nice walking trail that goes for miles in either direction just outside of the hotel gates. If you go, bring water.
Took the cab into Zihua 2 days to go to La Gatas Beach. Only 80 pesos for 4 of us and dropped us right at the pier. If you want to get in the water and can't do it at the hotel, this is a great option. There are little restaurants and bars lining the beach and it is a calm, safe place for swimming or snorkeling and for the kids to play in the sand.
Everyone at Sunscape works very hard to make your vacation wonderful. The rooms are very clean. They come around in the early evening to see if you need any more towels or anything else. And the towels are a great size. not little skimpy ones! The beds are firm but we didn't mind them. My problem was with the firm pillow. The hotel people in the lobby are helpful but be careful. They will engage you in conversation and then try to get you to go to their sales presentation for the club program. A quick no thank you does the job to get them to stop.
You can't go wrong by staying at Sunscape. It is a great all inclusive resort with a hard working staff, great food, and a perfect location.
