The food was terrible, and I am not a picky eater. I was extremely sick for 1 day, the third day into our 2 wk stay, so I was very wary of the food. If you stay here, do not go all inclusive as there are other places much better for food. We did all inclusive and the buffet was a joke. The hotel room was nice, beautiful view from the 8th floor looking right out to the ocean. Pool was very nice as was the fitness room. Only complaint is the food itself, and the liquor they used was limited and not the best.

One side is beautiful overlooking the ocean and the other side over looks air conditioning units of the building next door. You can hear them running too.

The rooms were large - pretty standard, but clean and comfy. Great balcony with view.
The grounds are large and the beach huge, but not for swimming. Enjoyed the massueses on the beach. Pool large and one area deep enough to dive in.
The problem that will keep me from returning is the 'lounge music' at top volume goes till midnight 3 nights a week even when no one is in the lounge. The noise carries up to the rooms. A neighboring hotel had a wedding that played music so loud till 3 am the windows were vibrating. No one cared nor helped the situation. The music at the pool was also very loud & lousy. We tipped them a few times to get it off the disco & then they wanted a tip for every song. Also a place that people 'save' their chairs at 5am(what's up with that?)
We went before the season started to get some peace & quiet.........
Area restaurants were fabulous. Not sure where one could find quiet in the town???
Snorkle out at Ixtapa island. A day trip to repeat over & over.

Stayed at the hotel on 24th of April. The check in was absolutely a farce. Only 1 employee at the check in counter while there was a fairly big line up. Each check lasted around 10 min..in total I waited about 40 min in the heat...

The rooms are quite nice...we got an ocean view with a balcony. Try to get rooms near the beach/pool (better view). The rooms were quite clean but one can tell that the hotel is aging. Overall, I was quite content with my room. Spacious and bright.

Pool area was nice as well as the beach..can't comment on the food at the hotel as we went in town every night.

two major fallbacks with the hotel was
1. no ice machines on the floors..if you want ice, it's room service and let me tell you it's quicker to make your own ice...

2. wasn't too happy with the overall service

in summary, it was a comfortable stay at the hotel and would recommend it only if you get a really good deal on it. For me, I wouldn't plan to stay here again..

This was our first trip to Ixtapa, and we hadn't been to Mexico for 15 years. The Krystal is great hotel. It is clean and the staff is very attentive and friendly. It is not a luxury hotel like you would find in Vegas or other American cities. This is Mexico. It was very nice and provided everything we were expecting. Almost all the rooms have great ocean views and you can leave your door open at night and easily hear the crashing waves. The pool area and beach were extremely nice. Everyone was very friendly and we had a lot of fun with many other hotel guests. The swim-up bar is perfect for meeting people. We did the all-inclusive. Not sure if we would do that again because there are so many good restaurants close to the hotel. The breakfast buffet at the Krystal was great - lots of choices and food was good. We didn't experience any "discrimination" because we were all-inclusive. All the hotel staff was very friendly and provided excellent service. The maids always left us flowers and decorated with wash cloths. Even though we were all-inclusive, we tipped the maids and the waiters and bartender at the pool. These people work hard for very little money. We definitely will go back to Ixtapa and will probably use this hotel again.
