I will be very upfront regarding my feelings about the Las Brisas Ixtapa: It is not the nicest placest you'll ever stay at, and not even the nicest place in the Ixtapa/Zihuatenejo area (try La Casa Que Canta or Villa del Sol on the Playa la Ropa). The rooms are small and almost tepid. The staff is courteous and prompt, but if you are used to posh 4- or 5-star American hotels, you'll be less than impressed. The grounds are extremely spacious and it can be a little difficult to get from place to place; if you are elderly or struggle with mobility, this may be a concern.

However, the reason I give the Las Brisas five stars is because of the value. Seven days at this hotel will cost roughly $1100 for a deluxe room and only a couple hundred more for the "Beach Club." I have stayed here twice, once in a Beach Club room and once in a standard deluxe room; I really couldn't care less about the upgrade. I love to travel and I can attest that there really is no place on Earth that is a better overall value for the money.

The beach and the views are impeccable. There are plenty of restaurants on site and even a cigar store. If you want to save money, take the short cab ride to Zihua and you'll be able to eat better for less. In fact, what ever you can do away from the hotel will save you money.

The rooms, as stated earlier, are small. They compensate for their small by providing a balcony that is nearly the size of the room itself. On both of my stays, my wife and I spent more time on the balcony anyway.

I highly recommend the Las Brisas. Ixtapa/Zihua is my favorite resort area in Mexico. It is not "in your face" like Cancun or Los Cabos; it is beautiful, laid back, and relaxing. It is kind of like Maui in relation to Waikiki. If you want intense nightlife and a wild party scene, you may spend a lot of your vacation searching in vain. However, if you want to chill, enjoy your time off, or spend a romantic getaway, then Ixtapa/Zihua is for you and no place will serve that need better than the Las Brisas.

We just returned from a week's vacation at Las Brisas and enjoyed every minute of it. We bought an all-inclusive package and made good use of it, eating all our meals there. We enjoyed all the restaurants but found Las Brisas 2 was our favourite. The tables were set outside along paths that overlooked the Pacific. It was absolutely beautiful. The food, wine and service were of superior quality. The hotel staff is wonderful, always smiling and eager to please. The balconies are very large and include lots of seating and a hammock for those afternoon siestas. Our only problem came courtesy of other guests and not the hotel. We were on the 17th floor and directly above us was a large suite complete with pool. The occupants' children took delight in splashing water down upon our balcony and that of our neighbor. We did complain and the management tried to get them to stop, but the children were mainly under the control of a nanny who really had no control of them. Still the problem really only occured on a couple of days and did not detract too much from our short stay. We will go back again.

You can find nicer resorts in Mexico--but not for the price you pay at Las Brisas. It is truly an upscale resort that offers a fantastic private beach, lap pool with waterfall, adult only pool, very good food, attentive service, and great views. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Only negative comment is the bed was a little too hard for my liking. But overall, you can't beat it for what you pay. I've been there twice in three years and plan to return. It beats all other hotels/resorts in Ixtapa by a mile.

We read some reviews before making the reservation... Some liked this place and some did not. We did and a lots! For sure, if we go again to Ixtapa we will stay at the Las Brisas Hotel. Private Beach outside of the commercial zone and classy customers. But food is pricy. We had breakfast, light lunch and happy hour at the hotel but we went out every night for dinner either to Ixtapa or Zihatanejo. Please since this destination has very good restaurants, do not pay for an "all inclusive". It is much interesting to go out for eating. Moreover, taxi from the Las Brisas to town is not expensive at all (only few dollars).

My wife and I just returned from Las Brisas (3/17- 3/21) and we could not have been more pleased. I wouldn't consider us wordly travelers but we have stayed in some top notch resorts in Aruba, Mexico, Hawaii etc. and this was one of our favorites. The beauty of Las Brisa lies in its surroundings. You can hear the Pacific crashing all around you from almost anywhere is the resort. The views from the rooms, lobby etc.are incredible. The service is excellent and the people are friendly. Our weather was perfect, 85F, no humidity and no clouds.

If you are looking for lots of activities and loud parties stay away. This is a place to kick back, read a book and sip on some Mexican beer. The town of Ixtapa is clean and safe and inexpensive. We had great meals and even the best restaurant in town is affordable (Villa de Selva). We made some friends, lost a camera, saw Enya and broke a bunch of pottery, whoops! All in all a memorable vacation. We will keep coming back.

My husband, myself and our two young children were at Las Brisas Hotel Feb 13 - 20, 2005.

Overall, we had an excellent vacation and especially liked the pool and beach areas. At the pool, there was always lots of available chairs and the food and drinks were excellent. The pool staff was always around to serve us. The beach was beautiful but the waves were really rough and you could not really swim. The service there was also excellent. Being with two small children, we spent almost everyday at the hotel and only once or twice went to Ixtapa and Zihuatenejo. Our package included all meals, drinks (from 10am to 5pm and at meals) and room service breakfast if we wished. We did that a few days and absolutely loved sitting on the deck eating breakfast. It was more enjoyable than forcing the kids to sit at the restaurant table while we sipped our coffee! The semi inclusive package is definitely worth it.

The room was small but clean.

The staff was very friendly to the kids and we would definitely go back.

It was our first visit to Las Brisas and Ixtapa -- February 19-22, 2005. The hotel has a great lobby bar with a stunning view. Check-in was slow and my reservation was misplaced but eventually things were straighted out, except we couldn't get a king bed as requested. At our suggestion, they offered up a king bed for two nights later if we were willing to move, which we were. Our room was exactly as pictured on the website -- compact room, beds decorated with native flowers, and a large balcony overlooking the ocean complete with hammock and chairs. We had registered for a special at the Beach Club level so were treated to margaritas, wine, and appetizers from 6-7 p.m. The hotel beach is very private and beautiful. The pools are great. We certainly didn't mind the walk to the beach or the pools. We didn't eat at any of the hotel restaurants so can't comment -- but the Beach Club continential breakfast and Social Hour evenings were wonderful. The day we changed rooms was stressful -- we moved twice before we found a room we liked, but the staff seemed to be trying hard to accomdate us. We usually took cabs to and from the hotel and found the $3-4 charge appropriate. We did take the bus one day (40 cents) and it was like a wild Disney roller coaster. We tried to rent a car from Budget in the hotel but it quickly became expensive and we would have had to wait several hours -- so plan ahead if you want a car. For the same price we were able to taxi everywhere and not try to deal with road signs, traffic and parking. My favorite thing about Las Brisas was watching the sunset over margarita's and snacks during Social Hour -- and spending the mornings reading in a hammock on our private balcony. We met lots of fun people and had a great time. Check-out went smoothly and our bill was accurate. I would definitely return!
