We stayed at Las Brisas 4 nights, Jan 2-6, 2014. This happened to fall during Mexican Nationals' holiday week so as a previous poster stated, guests were "70% Mexican, 30% Canadian, American or other". I'm sure the property is not usually this way but the large number of families with loud children did become rather frustrating. Our check-in took a long time, we waited in line for 30 minutes. However, after that we did not ever see the front desk line as long as it was that day. The hotel does not have a clear activity or show schedule which was disappointing because I'm sure we missed some things. We only learned of the release of baby sea turtles when someone had asked if we saw them the previous evening. We hadn't because we didn't know about them. The hotel is very understated and the focus is on nature and the beauty that surrounds the structure. I liked that about it. The rooms are spacious with separate sitting and sleeping areas, the terraces are also very large. They are furnished with a table and two sitting-chairs and a hammock. All the rooms are ocean view and what a view it is! I believe Playa Hermosa (the private beach of LB) is the nicest beach in Ixtapa. We listened to the waves from our room every morning! We paid for the beach club which was our favorite element of our stay. The number of beach club guests is very few and it was an exclusive little perk of continental breakfast and evening cocktail hour that we thoroughly enjoyed. We especially enjoyed the beach which was very swimmable. The beach bar/snack bar is conveniently located so you don't have to walk far for a drink or snack. Chairs were always available, no towel games. There weren't any water sports available like kayaks, boogie boards, snorkel gear, etc. The hotel was architecturally beautiful but it definitely needs a few updates. The elevators are a pain as they rarely all work and there are only four, all located right in the center of the hotel. The pool and restaurants are located a short walk from the main area of the hotel. It is a lovely walk through the greenery and along the ocean. The pools are shaded from the surrounding trees also. We didn't dine at any of the restaurants on property but reservations were made through the concierge. The menus looked nice but we opted to go into town. Zihuatanejo was a 10 minute cab/bus ride (90 pesos via cab, we didn't take the bus). Ixtapa was a 10 minute walk or a few minute (50 pesos) cab ride. Service was pretty good at the hotel. It was nothing spectacular but nothing to complain about. The only exception was the lovely gal who served us beverages each evening at the Beach Club, she was great! The lobby bar on the 18th floor had a lovely sunset view and entertainment some nights. We only had one round of drinks (110 pesos for a blended cocktail, 50 pesos for a beer). The gym was very sad an dreary with old, worn-out equipment. It needs a serious update.

Room Tip: Rooms on floors below 18 are quieter. If you want to avoid stairs, ask for a room near the elevator.

Dear Guest:

We appreciate the kind review in reference to your recent stay at Las Brisas Ixtapa.

Upon check in, a hotel location map is provided to our guests, it mentions to contact our Concierge if you would like to participate in our ecological tour (every Wednesday and Sunday morning) and/or in the sea turtle release. This last activity is not programmed as there is not a specific day of the turtles hatch which are released in the next 5/6 hours. When this happens, it is announced in the bulletin board at the Front Desk. We are very sorry if you missed this special moment.

In reference to the elevators, we work closely with the company that provides the maintenance service to keep the elevators in good conditions and are always available when needed.

There is a project to renovate the gym equipment in a near future.

Thank you for giving us your feedback, this helps us to measure the quality in service we are providing to our valuable guests.

We look forward to your return at Las Brisas Ixtapa.

Sincerely,

The Management

This is a large hotel with all the amenities in a great location. It has a fantastic view overlooking the Pacific ocean, which can be seen from pretty much every hotel room, the lovely lobby bar, three of the restaurants, and the swimming pool area. Rooms were generously sized with large balconies. We stayed on the 16th floor, which is pretty much idea for the view. The furnishings were pretty basic - could have done with a bit of color in the room. Also would have liked lounge chairs on the deck - we didn't really use the hammock. Room smelled a bit musty but its the tropics - I won't complain. There is no better beach on the area. Soft sand, totally private, with only hotel guests. The ocean is great for swimming - 85 degree water temps in December, and when the viz is good, bring your snorkling gear and head for the rocks on the northern end - we saw a couple of rays, bunches of puffers, and a moray eel! Beach chair area got a bit crowded but we were there over Christmas. Food at the restaurants was mediocre - but there is a fabulous view from Las Brisas II, which makes up for it. Don't expect a lot from the concierge - they really don't have a lot of information. Better to do all your research and make restaurant reservations yourself before you come. You don't need a car - there are not a lot of places to go, and it is probably better and easier to just rely on taxis. It was around $12.00 per trip into the hills of Zihua, or $25.00 round trip, which is probably still cheaper than renting a car if you're only doing one round trip per day. Best excursions were to Isla Ixtapa (crowded but still fun), and to two restaurants - Tentaciones and Amuleto - both fantastic.

Room Tip: 16th floor is good. With lower floors (e.g. 10th) you may not be able to have a full ocean view.

Went with friends and family to Las Brisas Ixtapa 12/25-12/31. We've been to many places in Mexico and Ixtapa has much of the charm that is now lacking in the big destination cities in Mexico. This area is very popular with Mexican nationals for a vacation destination, I would estimate about 70% of the guests were nationals, 15% from the US, 15% international.

The location is fantastic, the beach is the trophy of the hotel. Each room has a million dollar view. The hotel is secluded from the main strip of hotels. The Las Brisas Plan (all-inclusive) is a good value, the property isn't really set up as an all-inclusive, everything keys off your room number and you don't get billed at the end. Lot's of service people, very nice and attentive. I have nothing but good things to say about everyone working at the hotel. Weather was 90 degrees during the day and 70 degrees in the evenings.

The hotel is older, well maintained but older. Rooms are nice but they show a little age. Elevators are a little slow and inconsistent. Internet access is spotty. Although the service and ambiance at the international dinner restaurants is very good, they just can't quite get the seasoning right. Food is good but not special. The local fare in the restaurants is excellent. Drinks are very good, all made to order. Plenty of pools and lounge chairs. Plenty of beach chairs and shade, hours of operation that are posted are general guidelines give or take a couple of hours.

We had a great time. I will add this to my list of places I would re-visit in the future.

Ixtapa is a small beach paradise in Mexico and Las Brisas is a jewel. After staying a number of times at this hotel, I felt compelled to write my opinion. This property is located somewhat away from rest of the hotel resorts/shopping/dining area of Ixtapa. It can be a 15 min walk to other resort areas or 3 min drive by a taxi. The hotel is very good and pays attention to the safety of guests.

Talking about the rooms, all rooms have ocean view and a spacious balcony. The standard rooms have a small sitting area which is very convenient to relax or use as a work space. I have also stayed in a Junior Suite and I liked it a lot - certainly bar better than other hotel suites in the area I have stayed in. A separate sitting/dining and work area and a separate bedroom is what it makes a large suite. Additionally the suites have a jacuzzi at the balcony which gives an amazing view of the sea and can be enjoyed during the sunset with some champagne.

The beds are very relaxing and the wifi speeds are extremely nice. The bathrooms in the suites are larger, but I had a leaky shower (not a big deal). I also enjoyed the English channels on the TV which are somewhat rare in Mexico. Overall the rooms are very spacious and comfortable. This coupled with a terrace sized private balcony makes it perfect.

The hotel beach is private and the water is shallow - so certainly can be enjoyed by everyone. The food options in beach menu are though not attractive. The beach chairs are clean and usually available most of the time. The hotel staff is polite, helpful and speaks good English. I also dined at the Italian restaurant on site - I found the cuisine very delicious and well prepared. Some of the options were pricey but overall value to money is satisfactory.

I will return to this resort again when I am traveling to my business in a nearby town.

Room Tip: Ask for high floor rooms.

i decided to go to Ixtapa this year. it was a very nice hotel, the personal was very kind and fast. the food was horrible. the little wings club was a lot of fun to my girls. the weather is acceptable, my only problem was two of La Brisa management were rude: sergio and margarito. ask for Raul and Klein in La Brisa. ahhh... and i saw an ant and a cockroach. la miscelanea personal is alwayskind. i would definetely come back! hope to see you soon Las Brisas. a big kiss

Room Tip: if you go to a beach, you have to ask for a ocean view. there you can sit on the balcony and hear the sea rush. if you go with your kids ask for connected rooms
