Ixtapa is a small beach paradise in Mexico and Las Brisas is a jewel. After staying a number of times at this hotel, I felt compelled to write my opinion. This property is located somewhat away from rest of the hotel resorts/shopping/dining area of Ixtapa. It can be a 15 min walk to other resort areas or 3 min drive by a taxi. The hotel is very good and pays attention to the safety of guests.

Talking about the rooms, all rooms have ocean view and a spacious balcony. The standard rooms have a small sitting area which is very convenient to relax or use as a work space. I have also stayed in a Junior Suite and I liked it a lot - certainly bar better than other hotel suites in the area I have stayed in. A separate sitting/dining and work area and a separate bedroom is what it makes a large suite. Additionally the suites have a jacuzzi at the balcony which gives an amazing view of the sea and can be enjoyed during the sunset with some champagne.

The beds are very relaxing and the wifi speeds are extremely nice. The bathrooms in the suites are larger, but I had a leaky shower (not a big deal). I also enjoyed the English channels on the TV which are somewhat rare in Mexico. Overall the rooms are very spacious and comfortable. This coupled with a terrace sized private balcony makes it perfect.

The hotel beach is private and the water is shallow - so certainly can be enjoyed by everyone. The food options in beach menu are though not attractive. The beach chairs are clean and usually available most of the time. The hotel staff is polite, helpful and speaks good English. I also dined at the Italian restaurant on site - I found the cuisine very delicious and well prepared. Some of the options were pricey but overall value to money is satisfactory.

I will return to this resort again when I am traveling to my business in a nearby town.

Room Tip: Ask for high floor rooms.

Still the best private beach in Ixtapa with best security. Great location for grabbing a taxi into Zihuatanejo.

If you like hard mattresses you will love the place... like sleeping on a rock. Getting your room made up was an issue and towels seem to be a shortage. The elevators were in poor repair and broken regularly. Some long waits.... ended up taking the stairs for 7 floors. Was much better managed as a Camino Real or Westin. Besides the breakfast, food was very average. Please tune the piano... drives me nuts! Many staff members standing around, needs new management.

Absolutely beautiful views, nice people. Tennis pro was great, always on time and good teacher - Mario

What a wonderful holiday! This hotel is located on a beautiful property with PRIVATE access to
Vista Hermosa Beach. We had so much fun body surfing, boogie boarding and snorkelling in the very warm pacific ocean. To the south of the beach, keeping a safe distance from the rocks, we saw so many beautiful fish - totally unnecessary to travel to Ixtapa island. The pelicans put on quite a show of diving in the water to fish, sometimes 10 feet from where we were floating. We were able to watch day old tortoises released on the beach which was really special. The sand is soft, chairs & loungers plentiful and the beach towels were massive. There are 3 pools and 1 is adult only which is really nice. Beach/pool food highlights were the tuna/avocado salad, tuna salad and the turkey club. You can get really great sandwiches in the deli/store.

Every room has a view, the higher you are the better the view. Our room was a nonsmoking room on the 16th floor and it was comfortable and quiet. There are many stairs around the property so you do not have to wait for an elevator. The gardens are lovely and lush. We felt very secure - each time we left the security team noted our room number and wrote down the taxi license number. At the front gate we always had to state our room number when arriving by foot or car. All of the staff where very polite and respectful.

We ate in the Bellavista restaurant for breakfast - good coffee, lots of fresh fruit and pasteries, eggs made to order. Great view from Las Brisas II, live entertainment, 2/3 of us loved our meals. Portofino restaurant was our most favorite all around meal - caesar salad made at our table was a highlight. Wonderful waiters at all of the restaurants. We were on a European Plan so we had many meals in Ixtapa and Zihua.

The concierge ladies were very helpful - you have to see them to book supper meals in the 3 main restaurants. The front desk staff were friendly but be prepared for a lengthy check-in if you arrive with a group. This was unacceptable and hopefully it can be streamlined in the future. My suggestion to the manager is to offer cool drinks to patrons in the long lines if you can't get more computers and staff at peak check-in times.

The proximity of the property to Ixtapa was great 15-20 minute walk. No wrist bands. Few North American tourists. Lovely gift shops for clothes and jewelry.

We did not want to leave and will be back to this lovely hotel.

This was our 4th time here at Las Brisas and once again we had a great time. The hotel is a mix of All Inclusive and Non-Inclusive guests so you get a mixture of guests & atmosphere that make it a bit more unique for Ixtapa.

We stayed AI as inclusive packages from Canada are pretty darn affordable for this property and bang for the buck has always been pretty good for our time of year (early to mid December). It has been slowly changing to be more 'resort-like' over the last couple of years and while still good, I think the hotel is moving towards a traditional resort atmosphere. This is fine, but what made Las Brisas a bit unique is that it was more a hotel that happened to offer an upgrade to all inclusive as opposed to a regular all inclusive resort like a lot of hotels in Ixtapa have moved to.

An example of this is the mandated # of meals at what they call the Specialty Restaurants (3 of the 4 on property) and then the exclusion of many menu items from the menu for the AI package once you finally get into the specialty restaurant. As far as I know, all AI packages (regardless of what your travel provider indicates) are the same, 3 specialty meals for 7 days (we stayed 10 days and received 5) - what this means is you can eat at each restaurant once and only once or you pay for your meal separately. So there is 4 restaurants and 3 are not included for over half your stay when you stay a week! Then almost 40% of entree items on the menu are not included in the AI package when you (6 of 13 at La Brisa II) - where you pay half of the listed menu price for that item. When we first started coming here you were able to eat at whatever restaurant was available with no restrictions, so this has really changed our opinion. 2 nights of our stay, we had one option for dinner and it was the buffet - don't get me wrong, the buffets are pretty good overall but when you are at a 400 room hotel and you have one option for dinner because we used our specialty dinners already? Also of note is the fact that the AI package includes Lunch/Dinner on your check in day (but check in is 4pm...so try to go for lunch and signing it to your room when you haven't checked in yet) and only breakfast on your last day (but check out is 1pm, but don't try and have lunch at noon because you will be charged cash for it). So the Food & Beverage aspect is starting to make us think of other options because it doesn't seem like the 'old' Las Brisas anymore.

The 10 days we were there, they were getting ready for high season (we stayed the week prior to Xmas) so they were fixing the elevator to the beach and were also fixing all the palapas on the beach. Great for the following week, but we had only 1 day of working elevator to the beach (if you are familiar with the hotel, this is a big deal for some) and 1/4 of the palapas were blocked off each day. It created a bit of 'chair reserving' and not coming back for hours which is pretty rare for Las Brisas. Again, it seemed more resort-like with reserved but empty prime seating each morning and tourists in shorts and flip flops (the gringos, not nationals) in the semi-formal restaurants.

staff are still awesome and the location is still great. Maritza at the concierge desk is a stand out for sure! For regulars, they cut the forest down a bit at the pools and now you can look down to the beach from the pool area and it is great view that was previously blocked.

Weather was great (as usual) - no rain, sunny everyday, no wind. The waves were a bit larger than normal but calmed down by the last day, I still went swimming every day but some may not enjoy it.

I would still recommend this hotel - but I really hope they reverse the F&B practices as we are currently looking elsewhere for our 'go to hotel' now.

The foyer was bleak and uninviting, the reception area and personnel were unhelpful. The meals were held in different areas on different nights and nobody seemed to know where. However the jungle scenery and the views were stunning the help in most areas were very friendly. The Italian restaurant had the best food and Brisas11 had the best view and ambiance.

We just got back from a week's vacation, and as usual the stay was worth it. This is probably our 12th or 13th stay here, and it really is like going home again. We had a problem with our room on the 19th floor. This floor is open to the lobby below, and the acoustics are such that every conversation or music of any kind reverberates to your front door, and it sounds as if you are outside in the lobby. No kidding. However, we were very pleased that management got involved and helped us out. Just ask for a different floor. 20 and 21 are for Brisas Beach Club, and 22 is for Junior Suites, so think about a different floor if you like it quiet. After all of our years going the week after Thanksgiving, La Brisa II was FINALLY open, so we got to go. Fantastic setting, wonderful service, and very good food. We are already booked for next year, and we'll look forward to it all year long!

Please accept our sincere apology for the inconvenience you had with the room originally assigned on the 19th floor due to the noise from the Lobby Bar. We were glad to know it was solved once you were moved to an upper floor. and your stay was as pleasant as years before.
