“Excellnt local restaurant”
Reviewed December 11, 2012

this little restaurant is tucked away in a residential street and is a hiden little gem. The staff are welcoming and the food is freshly cooked in an open kitchen. They have recently extended to seating area and built a new open grill section. The delicious aromas alone are enough to make your mouth water before you've even sampled their menu. Main courses start at £7 upwards and its reasonably priced for the area. There is a mixture of pizza, pasta and specials all of which are gorgeous. I only wish they delivered for those nights you can't leave the house. They do however run a collection service which is speedy and efficient. My family are regulars and would highly recommend it to anyone in the area

“Falling standards”
Reviewed December 2, 2012

We've been eating at Don Beni's in Winkfield Row for years and have recently noticed a decline in many areas of the restaurant. For example, a main course such as a steak used to be accompanied by potatoes and vegetables as standard. Now potatoes and vegetables are extra and charged a £3 per portion, so steak meal that used to cost £19.99 now costs £25.99 for the same meal. We had to wait over 20 mins before we were asked for our drink selection, despite there being only 6 other people in that night. Worst of all, a family at the table next to us had to complain because a main course simply failed to turn up. When they reminded the waiter, he told the Chef who forgot to cook it again! They had to take the food away as the rest of their table had finished by the time the dish was ready. There is also an over powering smell in the room of the fuel used to create a flame in the kitchen, our clothes smelled so badly they all had to be put in the wash. With The Cricketers now revamped to a very high standard, and priced at a reasonable level, Don Beni's is going to have to work a lot harder if it is to maintain its custom.

“Señor Beni has gone meaty”
Reviewed November 23, 2012

The Don has now become a Señor as the offer is now a mix of Argentinian grill and Italian. They have obviously found an Argentinian meat supplier as the cuts are authentic and similar to what you would get in a Gauchos restaurant. Our fillet steaks were excellent and the rib mixed grill was, again, very good and a generous portion. The quality steaks are around £23 with sides but are the equal of Gauchos where you would pay at least double for the same thing. It has lost it's Italian ambience but all the old favourites are still on the menu. The same old buzz and atmosphere is still evident and its great to have something a bit different on offer in the area. The Argentinian menu gets five stars for quality and value.

Good pizza, pasta, wine place, with and atmosphere of friendliness and not so hard on the the wallet, could do with some more modern decor though?

“Really good empanadas”
Reviewed October 12, 2012

Been here and had these meat empanadas as a starter which I liked very much and I recommend. Sirloin steak was ok as well (more on the average side). Price ok for a full 3 course dinner.
