The restaurant is situated about as well as one could imagine ... Overlooking the cliffs and the beach, it also sits above the entire compound of villas... And is open air with a palapa to protect from above but otherwise unconstructed views.  Traditional and eclectic sounds also invite one in.  It's convenience to guests is unmistakable and especially makes for a great first night or last night meal, and certainly the early morning coffee and simple breakfast of huevos, taquitos, or the like.

It is not necessarily suited for an every night meal however.  The wonderful smell of garlic and other typical spices hint at the delicious fare in store. But it is somewhat pricy.  And for those looking for traditional fare or at least high end typical meals will be surprised and sometimes alarmed by the chef's creativity. Else everything is of great quality, standard tacos are served in a rich mole sauce. Guacamole comes with pineapple. A pollo with creamy rosemary sauce has untold seasonings, and spiciness, to challenge most patrons.  The sopa azteca was almost unrecognizable as a  flavorless chicken broth without an ancho in sight nor crema or much tortilla.   And unfortunately, the chef ran out of some of the specials, though the grilled shrimp with ajo was truly delicious.

All in all, for the adventurous couple, out on a romantic evening, or others willing to taste unique fare that can't be tagged with a label, this is excellent food in an unsurpassable setting. For families with teens or younger, it will be a challenge ...

We ate here several times during our stay at Villas Carrizalillo and found the food to be consistently good with different menus for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Breakfasts are excellent with the chilaquiles and huevos rancheros particularly tasty. For lunch the tacos are all very creative with different accompaniments to go with the chicken, steak, pork or prawns. Some of the dinner mains could be better and portions could be larger, the whole snapper is delicious though. Wonderful location perched on the cliffs overlooking the bay and secluded beach. Friendly service.

Excellent sunset views and views of Playa Carrizalillo located in the Villas Carrizalillo hotel. Really good appetizers of shrimp and calamari. Main course o.k. but not if your filet mignon lover stick to the flank steak.

Stunning view of Carrizalillo from this rooftop restaurant. We had a wonderful guacamole piña with chipotle and mint, followed by coconut shrimp and tacos and a burger. Service was friendly , and did I mention the view?
