Michael has been escorting tours through the lagoon for almost 40 years. A great way to see the lagoon and natural wildlife.

This large lagoon has fresh, brackish, and salt areas so attracts many water birds. We had a wonderful trip with Michael Malone and highly recommend his tour. He is quite knowledgeable and friendly as was the native boat driver who took us around.

We went bird watching on Manialtepec Lagoon for the first time more than 20 years ago. Each time we return the Lagoon is cleaner, the birds more prevalent and the guides more seasoned. We went out twice in December, once with Michael Malone and the second time with the son of the former mayor of the little villlage on the lagoon. My husband, a professional photographer, got a number of shots he had been after for years. Nothing to dislike, much to enjoy, even if you aren't a birder or a photographer.

This is a perfect way to spend a morning, just book online and Kiko will come and collect you from your Hotel. We are a family of four and we went with our fantastic friendly guides Stace and Tanya and of course not to forget their cutest dog ever Thor. We paddled about an hour up the lagoon, stopping on the way to have a swim, the views were beautiful, so still, quiet and peaceful. At one stage we were the only ones out there. Stace and Tracey also gave us so much information along the way about the area etc. They took some fantastic quality photos which you can purchase. Thank you Kiko for supplying such a great experience. The Gibsons Australia

After hearing about the excellent reviews about this lagoon, and understanding that we probably wouldn't get to experience the bioluminescence, I still thought this would be a beautiful half day trip for my husband and I (honeymooning). We kayaked, with a guide dropping us off and meeting us at a couple points along the way to show us where else we could go. While the river our guide brought us to had more wildlife and I found it very peaceful and beautiful, we come from Southern Oregon where there is wildlife and nature in essentially every corner. With that considered, it wasn't as impressive of an experience as it may be for others who live in desert or city environment.
