We arrived at Calcot manor on a very cold wet december afternoon and were met with a very helpful receptionist who couldnt do enough. As you can imagine traveling with two children the car journey was a little frought, but as soon as we entered our family suite that was soon forgotten. The receptionist could have easily point me to our accomodation as it was in one of the converted barns out in the pouring rain, but no she found a couple of umbrella's and showed me to our room. The room was amazing, imaculatley clean and their special touchs ie: a christmas tree in the room was fantastic and the children loved it. There was ceebies in their room and everything you could want in ours. We had high tea for the children in the Gumstool again a menu perfect for any fussy eater. Breakfast was again relaxed and very easy with their restuarant in the main hotel covering every breakfast cereal you could want. What was really helpful was on a separate table were plastic bowls, cups spoons and straws so I didnt need to pack all the usual stuff, service was fantastic the staff couldn't do enough. We had the children booked in to the Mez creche the following day for a couple of hours again very professional staff and every toy you could imagine including Wii if you have older ones. So amazing accomodation, fantastic staff great food not to mention as it was our aniversary they sent a bottle of very exspensive champagne to our room. A real home from home but I didnt do any washing up.

Room Tip: We stayed in the wood chester suite it has two baths with a TV so no need to fight over who has the...

Stayed at Calcot Manor last week to celebrate a wedding Anniversary and to recuperate after a particularly stressful few weeks.
Overall enjoyable, however several things to mention .On arrival we found the receptionist particularly unwelcoming. She showed us to our room walking several metres in front while we struggled behind with our luggage; at no time did she offer to assist.
We stayed in Oxford room which was very spacious, however it was also extremely badly lit which made it difficult to read. There was no full length mirror and no suitable mirror for make up in the bathroom It also had a large water stain on the ceiling which should be repaired/redecorated at the earliest opportunity. We had breakfast delivered to our room on one morning. There was no knives ,napkins or juice which necessitated 2 return trips by the waiter.
On one night we were unable to eat in the GumStool as it was fully booked which we felt as hotel guests should have been available to us. When we did eat in the Gumstool we thought the decor was very dated and the food unremarkable.
However on a positive note, the spa was great and we enjoyed the track and bikes. The food in the hotel restaurant was excellent and the beds extremely comfortable ensuring a good nights sleep.
Will we be back... Maybe

This trip was a birthday present to me from my wonderful wife. I had mentioned, conversationaly, earlier in the year that I had never experienced a massage so we spent a wonderful half day at this beautiful Spa and were treated as royalty by the exceptionally attentive team. My massage was just amazing and the pool, sauna, steam and relaxation areas were just great.
Good food, a hot tub [and champagne] ... couldn't be beated and, if I was asked to make any negative comment at all ... Buy some decent pens fdor guests to complete the entry forms with ... 5p Biro's are just not up to your standards :-)

We stayed at this hotel for a wine tasting dinner.
The hotel has a wonderful setting and certainly looks good.
On arrival we were dealt with pleasantly by the reception staff, shown around the hotel and taken to our room.
Both the hotel and our room (a deluxe double) could be described as rustic or shabby chic - depending on your viewpoint. The hotel and our room was somewhat dull and both could be improved by better lighting - especially if you want to read, dry hair, apply make-up etc. Another commmon problem was the need for additional heaters to boost the central heating system - even so, the bathroom was cold.
The room itself was large and well appointed. The bathroom featured a walk-in shower and was well equipped.
We decided to have a drink/sandwich in the lounge, but getting the attention of a member of staff proved difficult - we had to go to reception to get some attention, which eventually came.
There are plenty of staff and they are all friendly, but they need to be more aware of their customer requirements.
The dinner and wine tasting was excellent, the quality of both being exceptional - but here again greater attention to detail was required, portion sizes were very variable and my wife was served a scallop dish without the scallop. Similarly at breakfast we were missing a cup & saucer and butter dish.
So, in brief, an excellent location, looks great, staff friendly, food etc good - but improvements to lighting and greater attention to detail required.

Lunch today in the Gumstool Inn was immense! Ambience, service and quality of the cooking was perfect. Staff were patient and helpful in spite of the size of our party (12). And the Christmas pudding was the best ever. Note to myself, I must come back again soon!

I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough! The hotel staff are exceptional and their standard of service second to one.

I've been here as a private individual with the family's and also staged a number of large events here too. The level of commitment to customer satisfaction is exceptional.

Room Tip: All rooms are great but for a special treat, ask for the little cottage with the upstairs bathroom.

We recently went to the Cotswolds for a few days and stayed in this lovely hotel situated in rural Tetbury which incidentally is a charming and quaint village definitely worth a visit. Calcot Manor offers a relaxing ambiance, log fires, beautiful walks, delicious food in their conservatory ( we did not try the Brasserie). The decor is fairly modern and very comfortable as indeed are the bedrooms with their kingsize beds and every accoutrement for a comfortable stay. We were greeted as if we were " coming home" that is to say not intrusively nor particularly service orientated but all the staff are keen to bend over backwards to accommodate your needs. It is just a question of asking. Breakfast was delicious with a wide choice of food. The evening meals as I have already hinted offer a good selection of locally sourced foods and in our view were very good indeed Tetbury is well situated to visit nearby Cheltenham and Cirencester as well as smaller villages such as Stowe on the Wold in the locality which offer a wealth of typically English heritage. Finally, the spa side of the hotel offers pool and gym as well as the usual treatments. I had a wonderful aromatherapy massage which was sheer bliss and extremely relaxing. We would return any time given the chance.

Room Tip: The mid week offer with a significant discount is well worth it.
