We went to the Black Horse while on a break Up North. We were touring all the local villages from Northallerton and found this one in Kirby Fleetham. We had lunch from the set menu, there were a few choices and I have to say both of our chosen dishes were delicious! Cant quite remember our starters but I had a wild mushroom tagliatelle, and my husband a chicken dish for our main course, both really really good and I think the price was £10 for 2 courses, great value! The House wine was good and reasonably priced. The Sunday Lunch sounded good but alas we had to leave before we could try that too, next time for sure!!The service and Staff were very friendly and the venue itself was lovely- nice décor, attractive furnishings and furniture and very comfortable( lovely little village too). All in all a great find and we will most definitely visit there, again when we go up North. Looking forward to it.

Early lunch and fairly quiet today. We have eaten here 5 times now and never been disappointed. Sunday lunch menu is £15 for two courses, very good value. There is of course, the normal menu as well! We enjoyed a traditional prawn cocktail, which contained plenty of prawns, and whitebait served with a delicious mayonnaise and lemon. Unusually, we both went for the roast beef, three good slices of pink, perfectly cooked and tender beef with Yorkshire pudding, two types of potatoes and four veg. Unsurprisingly we couldn't manage puddings! A very nice if lightweight red wine from Spain.
Very good service with attentive serving staff, as always. Well worth a detour to eat here, a very pretty and well maintained village eatery.

Found this on line when looking for somewhere to eat near Catterick. The staff were excellent and friendly. The food choice was good and the meal was amazing. Went for Sunday lunch it was very tasty and the food was hot. Went on Easter Sunday and the pub was very full with several parties booked in, but we did not have to wait very long between courses. The only negative was that we were told the dining room was full due to a party coming in and we had to sit in the bar, the tables were all made up for diners and was very pleasant. However we finished our meal and as we were leaving we noticed that the dining room was still empty so felt a bit disappointed that we had not been sat in there especially as we had booked an early lunch. But on the whole this was a really pleasant public house and restaurant, and would definitely eat there again.

Great menu choices and relaxing atmosphere to enjoy a meal. Service was not too attentive - just enough. In the end fabulous food arrived and struggled to eat the main course. Overall atmosphere, service and quality/choice of food was fantastic and will be visiting again
