The Blue Bar is well established and always popular mainly because of the locality and view. Its the last Bar before the beach and enjoys uninterupted views out to sea. Faces West so it is at its best afternoon and evening. Menu reasonable but not extensive and prices are on the high side, but if you want a coffee and late sun its the place to go.

I have to agree with the other recent reviews, we've been going to the Blue Bar for years, its always been a bit too cool for school - like good service just wouldn't be cool - and in a way you forgive that because its on a north coast beach, so what do you expect... but I have to say it seems to have gone down hill and if you're a local or not (we are) the service aspect of running a bar/restaurant has just been forgotten completely. Locals are, after all, what keeps business like this going during the winter months. The many staff appear to find serving you in a polite way difficult, in fact they seem to find it difficult to serve you at all. We were constantly kept waiting while people busied themselves doing anything accept serve those waiting at the bar. When they did serve you they seemed more pre-occupied with the staff banter behind the bar than serving you, hence my order was repeated about five times. The food was bland, and uninspiring, not what I had remembered it to be prior to the summer season and hence greatly overpriced. The atmosphere was weird, even on a lovely sunny day, it was strange and uncomfortable, unless you were in the Blue Bar Clique, or you were two sheets to the wind. The Blue Bar is in such a nice place and used to be a great place to go with kids after a day on the beach... I think the management team just need a bit of a re-think on the service aspect and a bit of work on the food quality!

Poor food, poor service It's just a bar on the beach, great for a drink, in my opinion. Perhaps we went on a bad day, had heard good things about it. Shall not be returning to eat.

Turned up for an early lunch at 1145am only to be told lunch didn't start until 12. Fair enough, however, the rather self-absorbed and rude staff informed us whilst we stood at the bar that they couldn't take our order until 12 noon - Why they couldn't take our order whilst we ordered our drinks and take it through to the kitchen at 12, i don't know - perhaps their pen didn't start working until 12 on the dot?!

We couldn't see the clock from our table so when my husband got up to order at what turned out to be 1157am, he was told again that they couldn't take his order.

We drank our coffees that took 10 minutes to arrive and went somewhere else to eat so can't comment on the food but it seemed slightly expensive for what it was.

Sorry, Blue Bar, we won't be coming back.
