I stayed at the Koh Kong city hotel for 3 nights during the latter stages of a month-long school expedition travelling across Cambodia. For a group of travellers on a tight budget this was the first hotel (as opposed to guesthouse) that we had stayed in: you can imagine our excitement at the relative luxury!
A slight hiccup when we arrived is that the hotel had only booked us in for half the number of rooms we had asked for, meaning that 4 people had to sleep in each double room for our first night. Another administrative error by the hotel meant that once this was sorted out, several rooms had been double-booked and so the occupants were relocated. Not a problem, but a minor inconvenience.
The rooms were nice, with large comfortable beds, air conditioning and a TV with lots of channels, as well as good views. The bathrooms were as good, with a separate bath/ shower and two sinks. This allowed us to have our first warm shower of the trip! Complementary bottled water, towels and toiletries were welcome to a group of dirty travellers used to staying in rather cheaper guesthouses.
The hotel was located around a 10 minute walk from the centre of Koh Kong - although there's really not a lot to see. Restaurants are spread out across surrounding streets, and trekking offices are a short walk away. The hotel is located on the waterfront, giving nice views of a large bridge.
Rooms were not serviced every day but any problems or requests were quickly sorted out. Free wifi was available, as were laundry services (although these are quite expensive).
