I volunteered for helping cut back the rhododendrons with the friends of plean group. I love the park, always changing colours, people out walking, running or even horse riding. Always looking for volunteers

We stopped here to have a break from driving whilst travelling. 3 hours later we made it back to the car after exploring numerous trails and stumbling on some interest places. Some of the trails simply weaved through some beautiful parkland while others lead to an old house and stables, an adventure playground, a couple different pond areas, old coal mining houses and even some WW1 training trenches. One of the favourite trails we found one of the locals called heart attack hill due to the steep climb. It’s is a steep climb in parts but nothing to much to worry about. On the way up you get some good views through the trees and at one point the forest opened up onto a open misty paddock where you could watch the deer without being spotted because you were still amongst the tree. All the locals we stopped and talked to loved the park. If you want a place to have a nice walk and are in the area definitely consider this park.

Good paths to walk on, good play park for children, lots of picnic tables and seats for the less energetic. Toilets are on site. One of the walks takes you past the now ruin of Plean House and the ruins of the stables. For the more energetic there are other walks in the woods and grounds. There were no leaflets left at the information board in the large car park which was a shame as our grandson would have liked one to take home. This park is favoured by dog walkers.

Having Googled country parks we came across this park which had ww1 trenches, walled garden etc which we thought would be great for our family day out. When we arrived we were full of excitement of what we could do and see. This changed dramatically after our picnic when we realised beside a play park and badly sign posted trails there is NOTHING to do. After touring around the trails attempting to find the interesting things advertised we were left disappointed to realise everything was either closed off or like the ww1 trenches hidden under the overgrown bushes and trees. Having travelled for over an hour to get to the park we were most definitely devastated at the waste of a day. We gave up after trailing around with dissapointed kids/teens/adults and drove to the Kelpies instead. Definitely not as advertised great if u want to play at a playground or walk a dog but not for people looking for an adventure

Arrived on a beautiful sunny Easter Monday. Had a lovely picnic then started walking round the trails on the map. I was very surprised there was so much to see and so much to do for children and I am looking forward to going back with my grandchildren very soon.
