In the Gosport area for a funeral and stopping two nights,we decided to try a meal at The Bun Penny. We had a Monday 'Special' which was well cooked and presented by pleasant staff. I would,no,will eat there next time we are in the area.

As locals we use The Bun Penny regularly and always enjoy it whether we are taking the kids as they have a fresh healthy kids menu or whether we are on an Adults night. Today we had our Christmas meal at The Bun Penny & despite the £50 cost we'd have booked a year in advance if we couldn't as it was soo good. Food was exceptional and service very thorough.

IIIHad christmas dinner in the bun penny 2 years ago and it was fabulous. This year not even half as good, but the same price, feel like I was robbed.

A list is easiest:

No atmosphere,
No table clothes or xmas bits and bobs,
No music,
Poor service, very rushed!
Not xmasy at all,
Kids of people in the bar running around and throwing stones about inside completely unsupervised,
Dull staff, who really did not want to be there,
Starters dull, limp side salads,
Mains cold, limited poorly cooked veg,
Veg choice was a joke,
Processed turkey,
No extra gravey,
Sweets small, bland and very cold,
Cheese, poor selection with only 6 crackers for 4 people,
Coffee no cream,
2 mince pies for 4 people!
No drinks service,
Not asked ' how was that?'
Bill had to be corrected,

All for £50 a head!

Incredibly poor value for money.

I'll give it 6 months!

I organised a get together for 11 people including 1 baby and 2 children at the Bun Penny and it was excellent, staff were very helpful and the food was outstanding, in fact the best children's food I have seen at a restaurant in a long time. We had a great time and I would highly recommend anyone going to this pub/restaurant.
