I love Puebla. Been visiting since 2006. I discovered early on that the best eats in town are found in establishments which the locals patronize. El Gran Tacazo was packed the night I visited. Families, couples, folks of all ages.
The food? How do you like your tacos? Mine was a Taco Arabe con Queso. Delicious! This place serves so much sliced pork that they employ two guys to slice the roasted pork from the huge vertical rotisseries gently twirling in front of giant fires.
Whatever you order comes with typical Mexican accompaniments, the salsas, the limes, etc., etc. I didn't feel like a beer, so ordered lemonade on a whim. To my delight it was real lemonade, made with freshly squeezed lemons. Not something from a bottle.
If you are visiting Mexico, do what I did years ago. Make friends with a local family through a hospitality exchange. Then you will eat like real Mexicans eat! Bon provecho!
